What happened to Project AGE 1000?
Bandai Namco first announced the project at the Dragon Ball Genkidamatsuri event on January 25, 2026. The publisher’s January 26 announcement described a new Dragon Ball world and original characters brought to life by Akira Toriyama, with the game planned for 2027. On April 19, at Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour, it revealed the official name: DRAGON BALL XENOVERSE 3, a new entry in the Xenoverse series. Bandai Namco’s original AGE 1000 announcement and its Xenoverse 3 reveal document the change.

So, “Project AGE 1000” was the project’s initial announcement name, not the current game title. AGE 1000 remains the setting; Xenoverse 3 is the official title.
When does Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 come out, and what platforms are confirmed?
The announced release window is 2027. The confirmed platforms are PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, according to the publisher’s April 2026 platform announcement.

The official material does not give a specific launch day, platform-specific performance details, cross-play information, or edition differences. The Japanese official game page lists both suggested retail price and player count as undecided. No price, preorder, Amazon listing, or physical retail edition is established in the publisher material reviewed.
What is the AGE 1000 setting and story?
AGE 1000 is presented as an unexplored future in the Dragon Ball world, with West City at its center. Players create a hero, explore the city, and join the Great Saiyan Squad, a peacekeeping group. The official English material varies between “Great Saiyan Squad” and “Great Saiya Squad”; this article uses “Great Saiyan Squad” consistently. In the June 2026 trailer description, the protagonist arrives from another era with no memory of who they are, becomes a student at West City University, and serves in the squad. The publisher’s character profile names Brett, Tap, ROM, and Lilica: Brett is an aspiring hero and friendly rival; Tap is a student who skipped a grade; ROM is both student and idol; and Lilica is a classmate. The trailer description also mentions Bulma and Gamma 1. These details establish the premise and some characters, but do not reveal a complete plot. Avatar creation and fighting styles
Bandai Namco’s September 3, 2026 announcement describes a story-driven action RPG with six playable races: Earthling, Saiyan, Namekian, Frieza Race, Majin, and the newly introduced Android. Players can customize their fighter’s appearance, inherit techniques from Super Fighters, and select a fighting style drawing on the movement and abilities of 130 heroes. Previewed battle mechanics
The September 11 battle guide describes light and heavy attacks, Ki management, Perfect Guard, Ki Break, Super and Ultimate Attacks, Soul Assist, Soul Switch, and Awoken Skills. Players can call an original-series character to assist; Soul Switch temporarily lets the player use the equipped character’s signature techniques; and an Awoken Skill transforms the avatar according to its chosen race. The guide also refers to over 130 fighting styles, a separate description from the September 3 announcement’s styles based on 130 heroes. Neither number confirms the game’s total character roster.
These are previewed mechanics, not a guarantee of the final release build: Bandai Namco says UI and features may change before launch. The official battle guide includes the currently shown systems and controller inputs.

What has not been announced?
As of October 8, 2026, official publisher material establishes the title, 2027 window, three platforms, setting, and selected character and combat details. It does not establish:
- An exact release date or price.
- Player count, multiplayer modes, or cross-play.
- Physical retail editions, platform-specific feature differences, or performance targets.
- A complete character roster or the full story.
A Xenoverse 3 demo is scheduled for the official road-tour event at Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota, October 16–18, 2026.
