A community post announced a $500 reward for developing modding tools for Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO in October 2024. The announcement indicates an incentive, not proof that the reward was paid or that a particular tool was submitted or developed in response.
What the community announced
On October 5, 2024, a post on r/tenkaichi4 titled “Announcing a Modding bounty to help kickstart the modding scene! $500 Reward for modding tools” announced the reward. A related post appeared on r/SparkingZero on October 8. These are community announcements, not statements from the game’s publisher.

The available announcements do not establish who funded the reward, its complete eligibility requirements, a deadline, judging criteria, how submissions were to be made, or whether anyone received payment. The amount should therefore be described as an announced $500 bounty, not a verified payout.
What the later tool listings show
Subsequent listings document a range of PC-focused modding utilities, but the available information does not connect them to the bounty or identify them as winners.
#1 Best Overall
- Engage in heart-pounding, high-speed 3D battles that stay true to the anime and video game series
- This game contains breathtaking visuals and authentic combat moves like beam clashes, rush attacks, and movements too quick for the eyes to see
- Step into an arena that reacts to your every action including planet-razing ultimate attacks
- Watch the environment respond with stunning realism, and leave a trail of destruction in your wake as you battle to your heart’s content
- Video: A February 1, 2025 Nexus Mods listing describes USM Zero as a utility for decrypting USM files extracted from the game and converting or encrypting MP4 files into USM format for custom video. See the Nexus Mods listing.
- Audio and other game-specific tools: Additional listings indicate activity in audio modding and other tooling. They establish that tools exist, but the available descriptions are not enough to compare compatibility, installation requirements, or maintenance status. See the GameBanana listings.
These examples concern PC modding. The available information does not establish that the tools work with console versions of the game.
Later community project reports
In an August 3, 2026 community post, an online modpack project described itself as in development and said more than 50 characters were being tested, with around 15 confirmed at that point. Those counts are the project author’s report, not an independently verified tally, and the post does not establish that the project resulted from the 2024 bounty.
Rank #2
- UK PSN Account Requirement: UK PSN account may be required for any online features
- Legendary Budokai Tenkaichi Gameplay: Experience the iconic gameplay of the Budokai Tenkaichi series elevated to new heights with enhanced mechanics and controls
- Extensive Character Roster: Learn and master an incredible roster of playable characters, each with signature abilities, transformations, and techniques
- Authentic Dragon Ball Combat: Harness the destructive power of the strongest fighters ever to appear in DRAGON BALL with faithful recreations of their abilities
- Regional Compatibility: Physical game disc compatible with PlayStation 5 consoles in UK PAL regions
A GameBanana tool listing dated August 10, 2026 says JSON support appears to have been dropped from a newer mod loader released that day. That is a tool-specific compatibility note, not a general statement about every mod loader or every mod for the game; compatibility can change as tools are updated.

What remains unconfirmed
- The identity of the bounty’s sponsor or organizer.
- Its full terms, submission process, deadline, and judging criteria.
- Whether the $500 reward was paid.
- Whether any later utility or modpack was submitted for, or developed because of, the bounty.
The evidence supports a narrow conclusion: community members publicly announced a $500 mod-tool reward in October 2024, and later listings show a varied PC modding ecosystem. It does not establish a payout, a winning tool, or a causal link between the announcement and subsequent releases.
