ZERO adds 11 playable character slots, including several Gohan and Piccolo forms, plus Gamma 1, Gamma 2, and Cell Max. It also includes a Piccolo costume and three film-inspired battle additions. The pack is based on Dragon Ball Super: SUPER HERO.
What characters are in the Hero of Justice DLC?
The official Dragon Ball roster lists these 11 playable slots:
- Gohan (Super Hero)
- Gohan (Super Hero) Super Saiyan
- Ultimate Gohan (Super Hero)
- Gohan Beast
- Piccolo (Super Hero)
- Piccolo (Super Hero) Power Awakening
- Orange Piccolo
- Orange Piccolo Giant Form
- Gamma 1
- Gamma 2
- Cell Max
That count refers to playable character slots, not 11 entirely different characters: Gohan and Piccolo each appear in multiple forms. Steam uses a different name for Piccolo’s Power Awakening form, listing it as “Piccolo, Potential Unleashed”; the official Dragon Ball roster calls it “Piccolo (Super Hero) Power Awakening.” The official roster and announcement and Steam’s pack listing provide the character names and included content.
Does the pack include Beast Gohan?
Yes. Gohan Beast is one of the 11 listed playable slots. The roster also includes three other Gohan entries: Gohan (Super Hero), his Super Saiyan form, and Ultimate Gohan (Super Hero).
#1 Best Overall
- DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZERO base game disc
- Season Pass - 3 Packs including Dragon Ball Super: SUPER HERO and Dragon Ball DAIMA content that contains more than 20 playable characters
- Season Pass Bonus - Summon Shenron
- Collectible lenticular card
- Ultimate Upgrade Pack voucher
What else comes with the Hero of Justice Pack?
- One Piccolo (Super Hero) costume.
- Three bonus battles on Steam’s listing.
Bandai Namco’s launch announcement describes the three additions as “custom battle stages,” while Steam calls them “bonus battles.” The sources use different terms, so it is safest to describe them as three film-based battle additions rather than assume the labels mean precisely the same thing. The official Dragon Ball notice says the pack recreates actions and special moves from Dragon Ball Super: SUPER HERO. Bandai Namco’s announcement and Steam’s listing give their respective descriptions.
Do you need Sparking! ZERO to play the DLC?
Yes. Steam explicitly says the base game, DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZERO, is required. The DLC is additional content, not a standalone game. At launch, Bandai Namco said the pack was included for owners or purchasers of certain Deluxe, Ultimate, and Premium editions, as well as the Season Pass. Check the edition details in the store for your platform before buying the pack separately; inclusion can depend on the specific product you own.

When did the Hero of Justice Pack release?
The listed date depends on which official source you use: Bandai Namco Entertainment America dated its release announcement January 21, 2025; Steam lists January 23, 2025; and the Dragon Ball Official Site published its “Available Now” article on January 24, 2025. These are the dates stated by those sources, not a single universal date that applies to every region or storefront.
Which platforms is it available on?
At launch, the publisher and official Dragon Ball notice listed PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. Bandai Namco said the pack could be purchased on platforms where the game was available. Storefront availability can vary by platform and region, so check the DLC page for your system before purchasing.

How the pack fits into Sparking! ZERO
Bandai Namco describes DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZERO as an arena brawler developed by Spike Chunsoft. Its launch materials describe modes including Episode Battle, Custom Battles, online and split-screen versus, and World Tournament. The publisher also announced a balance patch alongside the Hero of Justice DLC. These are publisher descriptions; they do not establish how the DLC characters perform in a particular matchup or current balance version.
