To get the Magic Key in Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake, solve the button puzzle in the Pyramid and open the chest in its third-floor basement. First, collect the Thief’s Key at Dreamer’s Tower; children in Isis provide the clue for the Pyramid puzzle.
Get the Thief’s Key first
The Thief’s Key is found at Dreamer’s Tower. Speak to the old man at the end of the tower to obtain it, according to Game8’s key guide. It opens simple locks and is needed before you make the Pyramid trip.

Find the Magic Key in the Pyramid
- Travel to Isis. Talk to the children there for the clue to the Pyramid’s button puzzle.
- Go to the Pyramid. The Magic Key is located inside, but you must solve the button puzzle to reach it.
- Open the chest in the third-floor basement. The chest contains the Magic Key, as described in Game8’s Pyramid walkthrough.
The available walkthrough confirms that children in Isis give the clue, but does not establish the button sequence. Use their in-game hint rather than relying on an unverified sequence.
