What kind of game is Dragon Quest VII Reimagined?
It is a remake of DRAGON QUEST VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past, which originally released on PlayStation in 2000. Square Enix describes a hand-crafted visual style built around miniature-like characters and diorama-style environments. The Square Enix media kit gives the original-game and art-direction context.

The story begins on the secluded island of Estard, where childhood friends discover pieces of an ancient tablet. Activating its fragments sends them into the past, where they encounter lost lands and a danger threatening their world. Square Enix says the remake revises more than the visuals: it also reworks the scenario, battles, side quests, and systems, with the English announcement describing the narrative as more approachable and accessible. Square Enix’s English-language announcement provides that framing.
