In updated versions of Dragon’s Dogma 2, fixed Portcrystals are available in Vernworth, Harve Village, Bakbattahl, Melve, Checkpoint Rest Town and Volcanic Island Camp. The Unmoored World adds progression-dependent options. Activate fixed crystals when you find them, then spend portable Portcrystals on remote routes or places you expect to revisit—not destinations that already have a permanent crystal.
All static Portcrystal locations in the current version
“Static” means a Portcrystal already placed in the world, rather than one you carry and set down yourself. Older launch-era guides list only Vernworth and Harve Village. Later updates expanded the list: Game8 reports a permanent crystal at Bakbattahl, and Capcom’s June 10, 2026 update added crystals at Melve, Checkpoint Rest Town and Volcanic Island Camp. Those changes make older advice to spend a custom crystal on Bakbattahl or Volcanic Island Camp obsolete in updated builds.

For the six ordinary fixed locations, interact with the crystal to activate it. Capcom’s patch notes establish the three locations added in 2026 but do not give exact coordinates inside those settlements; follow the marker in the current game rather than inferring a gate or building from the settlement name alone.
Where to place custom Portcrystals
Choose a spot that saves a difficult or frequently repeated journey. Consider whether you have reached the area, how much an Oxcart route helps, and whether a fixed crystal already covers the destination. There is no universally optimal order: the best placement depends on your route and what you still plan to do.

- For remote optional areas, favor the destination that avoids your longest repeat journey.
- For story or vendor visits, consider whether you expect to return often enough to justify a crystal.
- If preparing for the Unmoored World, distinguish a useful pre-endgame custom placement from the additional crystals that become available in that world.
- Recheck the current map before placing one near a settlement: post-launch updates added permanent destinations that older guides did not account for.
How to get more portable Portcrystals
Portable crystals come from story and side quests, exploration, the Sphinx, a merchant exchange and—since the June 2026 update—Monster Culling. Older guides predate that latest reward, so their lists are not exhaustive for updated versions.
- Feast of Deception: PowerPyx describes a crystal as an automatic story reward associated with the quest; PC Gamer says Captain Brant grants one after his main-story quests. [PowerPyx; PC Gamer]
- Glyndwr’s questline: Complete Gift of the Bow and then Trial of Archery for a Portcrystal reward. [PowerPyx; PC Gamer]
- Forested Griffin’s Nest: Search the nest in the Misty Marshes area. [PowerPyx; PC Gamer]
- Sphinx: PowerPyx lists the Riddle of Madness as a reward and an optional duplication opportunity through the Riddle of Conviction; PC Gamer also lists the Riddle of Madness reward. PowerPyx cautions that Sphinx quest choices are one-time per playthrough, so do not assume a failed answer can simply be retried. [PowerPyx; PC Gamer]

Do you need Ferrystones to fast travel?
A Portcrystal is a destination; it is not the item that transports you there. Older guides describe Ferrystones as the travel item, acquired in chests or quest rewards or bought from general stores, with merchant stock replenishing over time. [PowerPyx; PC Gamer]

Capcom’s June 10, 2026 update introduced an Eternal Ferrystone: it is awarded after speaking with Brant during Seat of the Sovran, or added to the inventory of players who had already completed that quest. The same update also made other fast-travel adjustments, so the older descriptions of Ferrystone scarcity should not be assumed to apply unchanged to every installed version. [Capcom update notes]
