To improve Dragon’s Dogma 2 performance, start with the platform-specific option that actually exists. On PC, compare your hardware with Capcom’s current Steam requirements and reset an over-aggressive configuration if the game is unstable. On consoles, Title Update 3.2 (released September 2, 2026) added or changed graphics choices: Windows Central reports a 60-fps maximum target for Xbox Series X and 45 fps for Xbox Series S with FSR upscaling. Those are ceilings, not guarantees that every scene will hold the number. The faster choices trade image quality or resolution for responsiveness, so select the highest mode your display and tolerance for visual softness can support.

Choose the right fix for your platform
PC: repair the configuration before tuning graphics
Capcom’s Steam FAQ warns: “The game may not run properly if the in-game graphics settings are higher than your PC specs.” Its documented remedy is to replace the game’s configuration file, then relaunch and choose settings your hardware can handle. This is a configuration reset, not a universal high-FPS preset.

After the reset, use the Steam Store page linked from Capcom’s support article to compare your CPU, GPU, memory, and operating-system setup with the current requirements. Title Update 3.2 also brought updated PC requirements, so launch-era requirement lists may no longer describe the current build accurately.

PlayStation 5: use the options present in the current build
Title Update 3.2 added or changed console graphics choices according to current reporting. On PS5, open the game’s graphics or display settings and read the descriptions attached to each mode. Select the performance-oriented choice if steadier motion matters more than maximum image quality; select the quality-oriented choice if you prefer a sharper presentation and can accept a lower frame-rate target. No matched PS5 benchmark or universal PS5 frame-rate ceiling is established in the cited material, so do not assume an Xbox target applies to PS5.
Xbox Series X and Series S: the targets differ
Windows Central reports that the update introduced a maximum target of 60 fps on Xbox Series X and 45 fps on Xbox Series S, using FSR upscaling on Series S. Its writer briefly observed 30-fps and 60-fps choices on Series X, with the faster choice reducing resolution quality. Treat those observations as an attributed report of the update, not a promise of a locked rate in every location, combat encounter, or town.

Reset Dragon’s Dogma 2’s PC graphics configuration
Use Capcom’s reset procedure when the game refuses to run, crashes after changing settings, or behaves as though an unsupported configuration is still active. Close the game first; changing the file while it is running can cause the game to overwrite your changes.

- Exit Dragon’s Dogma 2 completely.
- Open Steam and select Library.
- Right-click Dragon’s Dogma 2 and choose Properties.
- Open Installed Files.
- Locate
config.iniin the game’s installation folder. - Rename
config.initoconfig_backup.ini. Keeping the backup lets you restore the previous file if needed. - Make a copy of

A careful PC method for finding more FPS
1. Record a baseline
Before changing anything, write down your resolution, display refresh rate, current graphics mode, and the frame-rate behavior you are trying to fix. Distinguish a low average from stutter: a game that usually runs smoothly but pauses during traversal needs a different diagnosis from one that is consistently below your target. Use the same save location and repeatable activity for each comparison so that one change can be judged against the previous result.
2. Check the current requirements
Capcom directs PC players to the Steam Store page for system requirements. Compare your actual CPU and GPU models, system memory, operating-system version, and chosen resolution with the current listing. Title Update 3.2 changed the requirements, and the reviewed Capcom support text does not reproduce the full component table, so avoid relying on a launch-era screenshot or a generic “recommended PC” list.
3. Lower settings that exceed your hardware
Start with the settings that demand the most from your system, but do not assume one universal bottleneck. A CPU-limited scene will not be fixed by repeatedly lowering a GPU-heavy option, while a resolution or quality setting that exceeds your graphics card can leave the processor underused. Change one setting or one small group at a time, restart only when the game requests it, and compare the same scene after every change.

- If the game is unstable immediately after a change, return to the last known-good value or perform Capcom’s configuration reset.
- If frame rate improves when you lower output resolution or image-quality choices, your graphics processor is likely under pressure at that workload; keep the setting that gives the best balance on your display.

On Xbox Series X, Windows Central reports that the update exposes a 60-fps choice, but the same report says the mode reduces resolution quality compared with the 30-fps choice. On Xbox Series S, the reported ceiling is 45 fps with FSR upscaling. Upscaling reconstructs an image from a lower internal resolution; it can support a higher target while making fine detail look softer or more unstable in motion.
Quality or graphics mode
A quality-oriented mode spends more of the console’s rendering budget on image quality and may use a lower frame-rate target. Choose it when sharper detail, reduced softness, or a steadier visual presentation matters more to you than control latency. The exact labels and available combinations can differ by platform and update, so read the description in the menu rather than assuming that “quality” means a specific resolution.

“60 fps maximum target” and “45 fps maximum target” describe the update’s stated or reported ceiling, not a measured guarantee for every scene. Dragon’s Dogma 2 can place different loads on the console in towns, traversal, combat, and effects-heavy encounters. If motion remains uneven in a demanding area, try the next lower option offered by the menu instead of judging the whole game from its best-case result.

Does turning off ray tracing improve FPS?
The available material does not provide a controlled frame-rate gain for disabling ray tracing in Dragon’s Dogma 2, so no honest percentage improvement can be promised. If your platform exposes a ray-tracing switch, compare the same scene with the option on and off, keep resolution and other settings unchanged, and retain the faster setting only if the difference is visible in your own play.
There is no ray-tracing toggle to disable on Xbox Series S: Capcom’s Xbox FAQ says the feature is unavailable on that console. Do not spend time looking for a missing setting or follow instructions written for Series X, PS5, or PC as though they apply to Series S.

The game will not start after changing graphics
Close the game and use Capcom’s config.ini replacement procedure. Rename the existing file to config_backup.ini, copy config_default.ini to config.ini, then launch again. Reapply settings gradually rather than restoring every aggressive value at once.

The frame rate is lower than a guide promises
Check whether the guide predates Title Update 3.2, uses a different resolution, or describes a different platform. The cited sources contain no matched benchmark showing a fixed FPS result for a particular PC component combination, and the reported console targets can vary by scene.

The image looks soft in the faster console mode
That is the stated trade-off of the reported Xbox Series X 60-fps choice and the Series S use of FSR upscaling. Switch to the quality-oriented option if the loss of resolution bothers you, or keep the faster mode if responsiveness is more important.
You are considering a hardware upgrade
Do not buy a GPU, CPU, console, cooling accessory, or storage device solely from a generic FPS claim. The available guidance does not establish a universal upgrade, a per-setting FPS delta, or a controlled comparison for your exact hardware. Identify whether your workload is graphics-limited, processor-limited, or configuration-related first.
How the 2026 update fits the performance timeline

The official Capcom update page linked in coverage may use different menu wording from the article, so rely on the labels visible in your installed game.
A July 16, 2026 TechRadar interview quoted producer Naoto Oyama saying Capcom was making “as many small tweaks as we can make” to build a larger console Performance Mode improvement. In the same pre-release interview, Oyama said the Switch 2 version was reaching at least 30 fps and higher in many scenes during development. Those comments predated Title Update 3.2 and the Switch 2 release; they are historical development statements, not post-launch measurements and not a basis for assuming performance on PC, PS5, or Xbox.
Practical recommendation
On PC, compare your hardware with the current Steam requirements, reset config.ini if the game is unstable, then lower settings methodically while testing a repeatable scene. On PS5, use the performance or quality choice shown by the current build and do not import Xbox numbers. On Xbox Series X, try the reported 60-fps option if you accept lower resolution; on Series S, the reported ceiling is 45 fps with FSR and ray tracing is not available. In every case, treat targets as scene-dependent and judge the final choice by the smoothness and image quality you actually see.
