This Is Not For You is an unreleased horror graphic adventure in which navigating an impossible lighthouse costs blood. Its official Steam listing plans a 2027 release, though it gives no confirmed day or month and currently marks the game as not yet available. Players are encouraged to draw their own maps: a route north can return them to a room they thought was south.

Developed by Interactive Dreams, This Is Not For You is a single-player horror graphic adventure. Its story begins after a ship crashes nearby: protagonist Ulysses enters an isolated lighthouse and discovers that its interior does not obey ordinary rules of space. The lighthouse is described as larger inside than outside, with passages that loop and destinations that can confound the player’s sense of direction.

Keys, statues, riddling characters, and puzzles populate the lighthouse. The game’s official Steam description sums up the mood with the invitation, “Try to make sense out of a dreamlike place.” The challenge is not just to find a way forward, but to work out what “forward” means in a building where familiar directions may mislead.
Why draw your own map?
Directions are unreliable
The official description specifically warns that going north may bring Ulysses back to a room the player thought was south. This is a core navigation problem, not simply a maze with a dependable compass: the player must notice how spaces connect and revise their assumptions when a route loops.

Notes help with exploration and puzzles
The Steam listing recommends drawing your own map to find items and solve increasingly complex puzzles. A developer announcement likewise emphasizes relying on notes and taking patience with the dreamlike maze. The mapping advice is therefore best understood as a player strategy; the available official descriptions do not promise a conventional in-game map.
When playing, a useful approach is to record what you actually observe rather than what you expect the layout to be: note the room you leave, the direction you travel, where you arrive, and any distinctive objects or characters. If a route returns to a familiar place by an unexpected direction, preserve that connection in your notes instead of forcing it into a normal floor plan. The official material establishes the need to map, but does not provide a completed route or puzzle solutions.

Movement has a cost
Each step slowly drains blood, according to the Steam description. That makes movement itself part of the horror and gives exploration a resource cost: wandering and backtracking are not presented as consequence-free. The phrase “vampiric lighthouse” is a vivid way to describe this blood-draining movement mechanic, not terminology used by the developer to name the lighthouse.
How House of Leaves relates to the game
The Steam listing says the game is partially inspired by Mark Z. Danielewski’s House of Leaves, early text adventures, and gothic fiction. Interactive Dreams’ official site also lists Silent Hill among the inspirations. These are influences, not evidence that the game adapts the novel or reproduces its story.

The connection to House of Leaves is especially legible in the premise of a space whose interior resists ordinary measurement. But the formats differ: the novel is a book, while This Is Not For You asks players to navigate a maze themselves, keep notes, and pay a cost for movement. Reading the novel is an optional way to explore one stated influence, not a prerequisite for playing.

As of October 2026, Steam lists a planned 2027 release and says the game is not yet available. The listing names Windows and macOS, and lists English and Spanish interface and subtitle support.
