DreamPunk 2.0 is a PC graphics mod for Cyberpunk 2077 that a 2024 showcase report describes as a weather, lighting, and exposure overhaul. Its “2.0” is the mod’s version number—not the game’s separate Update 2.0, which launched in September 2023 and changed major gameplay systems. The visual features below are reported by PC Guide, not independently tested.
What is the DreamPunk 2.0 mod?
PC Guide’s August 19, 2024 report describes DreamPunk 2.0 as a graphics mod by NextGen Dreams and highlights an 8K showcase. The report attributes these changes to the mod:

DreamPunk 2.0 is not Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.0
The similar names refer to different releases. DreamPunk 2.0 is the mod; the game’s free Update 2.0 began rolling out on September 21, 2023, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. CD PROJEKT RED said the update overhauled core gameplay systems, including the police system and Perk trees, and included fixes and improvements. It applied to the base game; a new playthrough was recommended to experience the changes, but existing saves could continue. CD PROJEKT RED’s Update 2.0 announcement

Will DreamPunk 2.0 run on your PC?
There is no verified DreamPunk-specific minimum or recommended PC specification in the cited report. It says the showcased system used an RTX 4090, Intel Core i9-13900KS, 64 GB of RAM, and an NVMe SSD. That is the reported demo configuration, not proof that those parts are required—or that they guarantee the same result on another PC.
For a useful baseline, CD PROJEKT RED publishes requirements for the game’s Update 2.0 and Phantom Liberty. These are game targets, not benchmarks for DreamPunk:
| Official game target | Listed hardware |
|---|---|
| Low preset, 1080p at 30 FPS, non-ray-traced minimum | GTX 1060 6 GB, RX 580 8 GB, or Intel Arc A380 |
| High preset, 1080p at 60 FPS, recommended | RTX 2060 Super, RX 5700 XT, or Arc A770 |
| Ray Tracing Overdrive, 2160p at 60 FPS | RTX 4080 with DLSS Frame Generation enabled |
CD PROJEKT RED says actual performance varies with hardware, software, settings, and resolution. Its 4K Overdrive target, in particular, includes DLSS Frame Generation and is not a promise of a specific frame rate with a graphics mod. Check the publisher’s current PC system requirements before upgrading or installing a mod.

- NVIDIA Ampere Streaming Multiprocessors: The all-new Ampere SM brings 2X the FP32 throughput and improved power efficiency.
- 2nd Generation RT Cores: Experience 2X the throughput of 1st gen RT Cores, plus concurrent RT and shading for a whole new level of ray-tracing performance.
- 3rd Generation Tensor Cores: Get up to 2X the throughput with structural sparsity and advanced AI algorithms such as DLSS. These cores deliver a massive boost in game performance and all-new AI capabilities.
- Axial-tech fan design features a smaller fan hub that facilitates longer blades and a barrier ring that increases downward air pressure.
- OC Mode : 1500 MHz (Boost Clock)/Default Mode : 1470 MHz (Boost Clock)
The publisher’s revised PC requirements also make an SSD a requirement and advise against using an HDD or a Steam Deck SD card, because lower bandwidth can affect streaming. Update 2.0 notes
How does DreamPunk compare with a texture mod?
The HD Reworked Project is a different kind of visual change: its author says it replaces or reworks assets at higher resolutions while preserving the original art style. The listing offers Ultra Quality and Balanced variants, with author-estimated additional VRAM use of about 1–1.5 GB for Ultra and 0.5–1 GB for Balanced. These are the author’s estimates, not independent measurements.
| Mod | Reported visual focus | Hardware or compatibility notes |
|---|---|---|
| DreamPunk 2.0 | Weather, lighting and color grading, and exposure adaptation, according to PC Guide’s 2024 report | No verified minimum specification; the reported showcase used an RTX 4090 system |
| HD Reworked Project | Higher-resolution assets, with the original art style retained, according to its author | Author estimates extra VRAM use of 1–1.5 GB for Ultra Quality and 0.5–1 GB for Balanced; its listing describes compatibility with game Update 2.1 and above and Phantom Liberty |
Compatibility can change as the game is updated. Check each mod’s live listing against your installed game version rather than assuming that a listing’s stated compatibility remains current. HD Reworked Project listing

What happened to older mods after the game’s Update 2.0?
CD PROJEKT RED strongly recommended uninstalling pre-2.0 mods until their creators updated them, warning that outdated mods could disrupt play or cause critical errors. That warning concerns older mods after the game update; it does not establish whether DreamPunk 2.0 or another specific mod works with a particular current game version.
Before installing or updating a mod, check its current compatibility notes and follow its author’s installation instructions. If an older mod causes problems, remove it and test the game without it before troubleshooting further. The publisher’s Update 2.0 notes explain the original warning.
Are these graphics mods available on console?
The reported DreamPunk showcase and the named HD Reworked Project are PC modding examples; the cited sources do not establish console versions. The game’s Update 2.0 did roll out to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, but that does not mean these PC mods are available on consoles.
CD PROJEKT RED’s REDmod license describes the tool as being for creating, developing, and using Cyberpunk 2077 modifications. It also says the company does not monitor or endorse mods and does not take responsibility for problems caused by them. The published license was last updated September 6, 2022, so consult the current terms rather than treating it as up-to-date legal guidance. CD PROJEKT RED user agreement
