Dumpster Gang is not downloadable on Nintendo Switch 2 yet. Curve Games and Coyote House Games announced a Switch 2 version for March 2027, but no day, eShop price, file size, age rating, physical edition, or Game-Key Card plan has been published. There was no Nintendo eShop listing as of 29 October 2026.
You can play the free demo now on Steam or Xbox on PC; it contains the tutorial and first two levels. The complete PC version is scheduled for 3 December 2026 on Steam, Xbox on PC, and PC Game Pass. When the Switch 2 edition arrives, Nintendo’s Virtual Game Card system will handle the download. If it freezes or will not start, follow Nintendo’s order: restart, update the system, update the game, scan for corrupted data, then delete and redownload it before troubleshooting microSD Express storage or controllers.

The announced Switch 2 release window is March 2027 worldwide, with no calendar day confirmed. The announcement was made during the Nintendo Indie World Showcase Fall 2026 on 28 October 2026 and repeated in the Curve Games and Coyote House Games console announcement.

There is no published Switch 2 price, download size, rating, physical SKU, or confirmation that the game will use a full cartridge or a Game-Key Card. Curve Games has released physical Nintendo products for other games, but that history does not confirm a physical Dumpster Gang edition.
What is Dumpster Gang?
Dumpster Gang is a cooperative action sandbox from Coyote House Games, published by Curve Games. One to four players control mischievous raccoons on ridiculous missions: knocking over trash cans, stealing shiny junk and snacks, hauling loot, solving environmental puzzles, and escaping an Exterminator who can trap or capture the gang. Solo play is included in the publisher’s description.

The levels are built around vertical movement and improvised interactions. Raccoons can sprint, climb walls, crawl through vents, pick up and throw objects, steal items, and smash parts of the environment. The intended chain reactions are unpredictable: a plan can become a rescue mission, an accidental betrayal, or a frantic escape.
- Co-op loop: carry heavy loot together, solve puzzles, rescue captured teammates, and evade the Exterminator.
- Hideout progression: customize a raccoon, unlock hats with distinct abilities, and decorate the hideout with stolen objects.
- Player count: the publisher advertises one to four players, including solo play.
- Current PC information: Steam lists Full Controller Support, Xbox controller support, English and at least Simplified Chinese, French, Italian, and German among a 10-language set, and interactive online elements. Steam Deck compatibility is listed as Unknown and the unreleased full game has no user reviews.

Can I download Dumpster Gang on Switch 2 now?
No. There is no Switch 2 download to start before the March 2027 launch window. A third-party page offering a Switch 2 APK, NSP, “free ROM,” or an early eShop file is not an official release channel and should be treated as unverified.

There is no announced Switch 2 demo, no announced cross-save from the PC demo, and no confirmed cross-play between Switch 2, PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox. Do not assume that a PC purchase or demo entitlement will transfer to Nintendo’s console.

How will I download Dumpster Gang on Switch 2 when it launches?
Nintendo Switch 2 digital purchases are tied to the purchasing Nintendo Account and appear as Virtual Game Cards. Once Dumpster Gang is actually listed in Nintendo eShop, use this sequence.
- Connect the Switch 2 to the internet and complete any pending system update.
- If the Dumpster Gang icon is already on the HOME Menu, highlight it and choose Download.
- If there is no icon, open Virtual Game Cards from the HOME Menu, select the user who bought the software, and complete the password or PIN authentication if Nintendo requests it.
- Select Dumpster Gang and choose Load to This Console. The virtual card is then loaded and the software download can begin.
- To queue several purchases, open Virtual Game Cards, press X, select the cards, and choose Load Multiple.
- If you need the data downloaded without loading the virtual card on a console that is not one of the two consoles permitted to load that card, open Virtual Game Cards, select the user and title, choose Options, then Download Data when Online License is enabled.
- If the icon does not appear after the download starts, hold POWER for three seconds, choose Power Options, then Restart.
Demos, Nintendo Switch Online classic libraries, Expansion Pack downloadable content, and Game Trials are commonly redownloaded from Nintendo eShop rather than from the Virtual Game Card screen. That distinction may matter if Curve distributes a separate Dumpster Gang demo later.
What does “You must have the software in order to play” mean?
Nintendo says this message generally means the downloadable game or its downloadable content is not present on the console; it is not, by itself, evidence of a hardware failure. For a digital copy, restart the console, check for a software update, load the Dumpster Gang Virtual Game Card with Load on This System, and then start the game.

For a physical copy, if one is eventually announced, Nintendo’s recovery sequence is to restart, remove and reinsert the card, delete the software data while keeping the save, install updates, and redownload any DLC. No physical Switch 2 version has been confirmed, so do not buy a listing that claims to be an official Dumpster Gang cartridge before Nintendo or Curve publishes a SKU.
Why is Dumpster Gang crashing, freezing, or refusing to launch on Switch 2?
There are no Dumpster Gang-specific Switch 2 crash reports or published crash-rate statistics because the console build has not shipped. Use Nintendo’s generic downloaded-Switch-2-software procedure for a long load, severe lag, a frozen console, a logo that returns to HOME, or messages such as “Unable to start software. Return to the HOME Menu and try again.” and “Could not start the software. Please try again from the HOME Menu.” If an error code appears, search that exact code first and follow its dedicated Nintendo article instead of skipping to a generic fix.
1. Restart the console
Hold POWER for three seconds, select Power Options, and choose Restart. If the system does not respond, hold POWER for 12 seconds to force it off, then press POWER again to start it.
2. Update Switch 2 system software
From HOME, open System Settings, select System at the bottom of the left-hand list, and choose System Update. Install the update and restart if Nintendo requests it.

3. Update Dumpster Gang
On HOME, highlight the game without launching it. Press + or −, choose Software Update, then Via the Internet. The console must be online.
4. Scan for corrupted data
Open System Settings → Data Management → Manage Software, select Dumpster Gang, and choose Scan for Corrupted Data. Nintendo’s UK wording is Check for Corrupted Data. Update the console first, as Nintendo UK advises, then run the scan again if necessary.
5. Delete and redownload the game
Go to System Settings → Data Management → Manage Software, select Dumpster Gang, and choose Delete Software. The HOME icon is removed, but Nintendo’s procedure keeps save data. Redownload with the same Nintendo Account through Virtual Game Cards or eShop, then reinstall updates and any DLC. A Switch 2 crash article from Koei Tecmo also echoes that reinstalling does not delete saves and that purchased DLC and bonuses must be downloaded again.
6. Test the microSD Express storage path
Only follow this branch if a microSD Express card is inserted and the problem continues. First back up screenshots and videos to a computer. Formatting erases the card, while save data remains in system memory.
- Format the card: open System Settings → System → Formatting Options → Format microSD Card, select Continue, then Format. The console restarts.
- Try another microSD Express card: a failing or incompatible card can reproduce launch and loading errors.
- Remove the card: power off the console, open the adjustable stand to reach the slot, push the card until it clicks, slide it out, and download Dumpster Gang directly to internal storage.
Switch 2 accepts only microSD Express cards. Ordinary Switch microSD cards that do not meet the Express standard cannot be used, so moving a card from an original Switch does not automatically provide usable storage.
7. Contact Nintendo if the sequence fails
If the game still freezes or closes after an update, corruption scan, clean redownload, and storage check, Nintendo’s guidance is to contact Nintendo Support. Do not treat an unverified “crash fix” download or modified game file as a replacement for the official recovery path.
Could a Joy-Con 2 problem be causing the launch failure?
Possibly, but this is a practical secondary check rather than a Dumpster Gang-specific Nintendo diagnosis. Technobezz reported that a game can hang when it detects a controller in a conflicting state, including a Joy-Con 2 rail that has not registered correctly. If a launch failure appears only with controllers attached, reseat them before repeating the software-repair steps.

- Slide both Joy-Con 2 controllers off the console and attach them again until the magnetic connectors make a firm snap.
- If the left controller still does not respond, restart the Switch 2 with both controllers detached.
- After the reboot completes, attach the Joy-Con 2 controllers and retry the game.
- If the game supports mouse input, keep the Joy-Con 2 away from a tabletop or other flat surface while launching so mouse mode is not accidentally triggered.
Nintendo describes the Joy-Con 2 magnetic release button and side-mounted mouse sensor as platform features. Mouse control works only in compatible games. Curve Games has not confirmed that Dumpster Gang supports Joy-Con 2 mouse mode, so do not assume that a mouse icon, a Project N report, or another game’s compatibility guarantees it here.

The game is advertised for one to four players, but the Switch 2 announcement does not publish a button map, local-versus-online breakdown, rumble support, or a required controller combination. The console’s included Joy-Con 2 pair can cover basic two-player use; a four-player session will require enough additional compatible controllers for the way the final build assigns players.
Do not count on GameShare or cross-play yet. Project N reported that the Switch 2 version accepts Joy-Con 2 mouse controls and GameShare, but that claim does not appear in the Curve Games release, Steam listing, Nintendo’s Dumpster Gang materials, or the other cited announcement coverage. Nintendo GameShare is a system feature, not proof that every game supports it. Curve has also not confirmed squads mixing Switch 2, Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox players.
GameChat is separate from the game’s own multiplayer networking. Nintendo says GameChat requires an internet connection, a Nintendo Account, and Nintendo Switch Online; camera chat additionally needs the Switch 2 camera or another compatible USB-C camera sold separately. The publisher has not stated whether Dumpster Gang’s own online co-op will require Nintendo Switch Online, so that requirement remains unconfirmed.

Either location should be possible once the game ships, but internal storage is the sensible diagnostic choice when a microSD Express card is involved in a crash. Nintendo Switch 2 has 256 GB of internal storage, which Nintendo describes as eight times the original Switch’s internal capacity. If a clean redownload works in system memory but not on the card, the card or its formatting is the likely variable.
Use only microSD Express media. A conventional microSD card used in an original Switch is not a compatible substitute. Formatting, swapping, or removing the card erases or removes software stored there, so back up screenshots and videos first; save data remains in system memory according to Nintendo’s procedure.
What can I play while waiting for the Switch 2 version?
The free PC demo is the only currently announced playable preview. It includes the tutorial and first two levels on Steam and Xbox on PC. The complete PC game is scheduled for 3 December 2026 on Steam, Xbox on PC, and PC Game Pass, ahead of the March 2027 console window.

The PC route has different requirements from the future Switch 2 edition. Steam lists a 64-bit operating system, an Intel Core i5-4670K or AMD FX-8350 processor, 8,192 MB of RAM, a GeForce GTX 1050 with 2,048 MB or Radeon RX 550 with 4,096 MB, and DirectX 12 as minimum requirements for the demo and PC path. Those specifications do not predict the Switch 2 download size or performance.
The demo is useful for learning the movement and co-op premise, but there is no announced progress transfer to Switch 2. A PC demo purchase, save, or entitlement should therefore be treated as separate until Curve Games publishes cross-save details.
What Switch 2 details are still unknown?
Several practical buying and setup questions remain open:
- The exact day in March 2027.
- The Nintendo eShop price and download size.
- The age rating and regional eShop availability.
- Whether the game will be digital-only, a full cartridge, or a Game-Key Card.
- Whether a physical edition will exist at all.
- Joy-Con 2 mouse support, GameShare support, and the final local or online four-player modes.
- Cross-play with PC, PlayStation 5, or Xbox.
- Any post-launch patch notes, crash acknowledgements, or controller bug fixes.
- The Nintendo Switch Online requirement for Dumpster Gang’s own online co-op.
Until those details are announced, the reliable facts are the March 2027 window, the one-to-four-player design, and Nintendo’s standard Virtual Game Card and downloaded-software recovery procedures.

Will the Steam demo save transfer to the Switch 2 version?
No cross-save or account-transfer feature has been announced. Unless Curve Games publishes a specific migration system, assume that progress made in the Steam or Xbox PC demo stays on that platform.
Can I preload Dumpster Gang on Switch 2 before March 2027?
There is no Switch 2 eShop listing or preload date yet, so preloading is not available. A preload option would appear through Nintendo eShop or Virtual Game Cards only after Nintendo publishes the product listing.

That format has not been confirmed. Curve’s physical releases for other games do not establish a cartridge, Game-Key Card, or digital-only plan for Dumpster Gang.
Does the Switch 2 version require Nintendo Switch Online?
Nintendo Switch Online is required for Nintendo’s GameChat service, but Curve Games has not specified the subscription requirement for Dumpster Gang’s own online co-op. Wait for the game’s eShop listing or a publisher update for that platform-specific detail.
