The settings folder is separate: it is under Documents. Use the paths below to locate the right files, then make a separate manual copy before moving or editing anything.
Where Dying Light 2 saves are stored on Windows
Techland lists these default PC save locations. In File Explorer, paste the relevant path into the address bar. For Steam, replace the placeholders with your actual Steam installation folder and account-specific user ID.

The Steam path includes 534380, the game’s Steam app identifier. Techland’s support article, modified January 29, 2024, gives the default save paths and notes that the Steam installation directory and profile ID can vary: Techland Support: Dying Light 2 save files location.

Steam
- In File Explorer, open your Steam installation folder. The default is often
%PROGRAMFILES(X86)%Steam, but use the folder where you installed Steam if it differs. - Open
userdata, then the folder matching your Steam user/profile ID. - Open
534380remoteout.
Epic Games
- Open File Explorer.
- Paste
%USERPROFILE%Documentsdying light 2outstorageinto the address bar and press Enter.
If a pasted path does not open, check that you used the correct Windows account and, for Steam, the right installation folder and user ID.

Where the Windows config and settings folder is
PCGamingWiki lists the Windows settings folder as %USERPROFILE%DocumentsDying Light 2outsettings. This is distinct from both storefront save paths, including Steam’s userdata location. The config-folder reference is community-maintained rather than Techland support documentation: PCGamingWiki: Dying Light 2 Stay Human.
PCGamingWiki notes that in-game settings changes may restore config files to defaults, and game updates may reset configuration. Copy the original files before experimenting; treat edited settings as version-sensitive.

Steam Play on Linux
For Steam Play/Proton, PCGamingWiki lists the game’s prefix beneath <SteamLibrary-folder>/steamapps/compatdata/534380/pfx/. The Steam library folder can vary, and the effective file path depends on the prefix, so this is not the Windows Documents path. PCGamingWiki also notes that the app ID may differ in some cases.
Back up saves before changing files
- Open the appropriate save folder for your storefront.
- Copy the save data to a different folder, such as another location on the same drive or a separate storage device.
- Keep that copy separate from the working folder before moving, replacing, or editing files.
Techland recommends making a backup of save files and warns that deleted or corrupted save data cannot be retrieved or repaired if there is no manual backup. Its lost/deleted-save guidance was modified October 3, 2023: Techland Support: Dying Light 2 lost or deleted save. A reinstall or cloud sync should not be treated as a substitute for a separate manual copy.

Console saves
These folders are for PC. The cited support information does not provide a console file-system path, so do not apply the Windows locations to PlayStation or Xbox.
