Some players have reported intermittent failures, but available reports do not establish how often the problem occurs now or what causes it. The workarounds below are checks, not guaranteed fixes.
1. Check the binding, then test a short hold
Start in the game’s controls settings and confirm which input is assigned to Survivor Sense. This is especially useful if you remapped controls or switch between keyboard and controller; defaults can vary by platform or setup.

Press and briefly hold R3—the right stick button—instead of making a quick click. A community mod page describes a short hold, but it is not authoritative control documentation, so treat this as a test rather than a confirmed requirement. Community control reference

Check the assigned PC key; Q is commonly reported, but your binding may differ. Try holding the assigned key briefly. One player reported that holding Q worked for them, which makes this a low-confidence workaround, not a guaranteed fix. Community report

2. Try the reported in-game reset
If the input still does not register, open the in-game options menu, return to play, and test Survivor Sense again. One player reported this as a temporary reset. It is anecdotal, and there is no guarantee it will help or that the effect will last. Community report
3. Check whether a particular action triggers the failure
Notice whether Survivor Sense stops working after you are hit or perform a specific parkour action. Techland’s official patch announcement dated February 3, 2022 said: “Survivor Sense now works correctly and can be triggered without any cooldowns after getting hit or performing specific parkour actions.” That statement describes a historical fix for those conditions; it does not establish that every current platform or game build is free of activation problems. 4. Contact Techland if the failure is reproducible
If the input repeatedly fails after you check the binding and test the workarounds, submit a ticket through Techland Support. Include details that help narrow down whether the issue is tied to your setup or a repeatable in-game action:
- Your platform and game version.
- Whether you are using a controller or keyboard, and the exact Survivor Sense binding.
- Whether that button or key works in other games.
- The actions and steps that consistently lead to the failure, including whether it follows being hit or a parkour move.
These are useful diagnostic details to provide; they are not presented as Techland’s required checklist. Current reports and the historical patch note do not establish the status of the issue on every platform or build.
