For reliable progress in Dying Light: The Beast, chain nearby quests and map activities instead of roaming to fight every infected. Night objectives may pay more, according to a 2025 third-party guide, but nighttime is also more dangerous; scout your route in daylight, use safe areas and UV tools, and retreat when a chase becomes too risky. No verified, current XP-per-minute comparison establishes a single fastest method.

Build a compact route before you farm

  1. Scout in daylight. Mark several nearby quests or map activities so you can spend less time traveling after dark. Techland advises planning safe routes, carrying supplies, and using rooftops and UV tools at night (Techland’s night-survival guidance).
  2. Choose a safe starting point. Sleep at a safe location, then begin with objectives close enough that you can retreat without crossing a large stretch of dangerous territory.
  3. Chain compact objectives. Prioritize side content and nearby activities over aimless combat. A 2025 guide from All Things How recommends this approach, but it does not provide a verified XP-per-hour comparison (All Things How’s XP guide).
  4. Use safe areas to manage risk. Indoor combat spaces and UV-lit safe areas can help you break off or reset when pursuit gets dangerous. Do not assume a route is safe simply because it worked on another build or patch.

Is XP farming better at night?

A 2025 All Things How guide recommends completing objectives at night for increased payouts. That is a secondary-source claim, not a publisher-issued XP rule or a guarantee for every activity or game version. Techland characterizes night as a high-threat period, so the possible reward comes with real risk. Scout by day, bring supplies, favor rooftops and UV protection, and keep a retreat route in mind.

The guide also reports that deaths can cost XP, but the reviewed official sources do not establish a universal loss amount. Treat any potential lost progress as another reason to avoid unnecessary fights rather than as a fixed number.

What about the Town Hall volatile farm?

All Things How describes drawing Volatiles into a UV-supported chase around Town Hall and killing them for XP. It reports roughly 500 XP per volatile, but that estimate is not an official benchmark and may change with updates or builds. The guide also notes that some builds may fail to credit Beast Mode kills. Because the tactic depends on the encounter, equipment, and XP credit working as expected, it is a version-sensitive option—not a dependable universal farm.

How much XP do quests, Safe Spots, and Explorer gear give?

There is no publisher-issued XP award table among the reviewed sources. The following figures are estimates reported by All Things How in 2025, not stable or officially verified values:

Activity or equipment Reported estimate How to interpret it
Early side quests 4,000–10,000 XP All Things How’s approximate range; subject to version changes.
Later tasks Up to about 20,000 XP All Things How’s estimate, not a guaranteed award.
Safe Spots About 2,000–3,000 XP All Things How’s approximate estimate.
Explorer armor 2% XP per equipped piece All Things How’s reported bonus; verify it in your current build before relying on it.

Use these figures as leads for what to check in-game, not as a basis for predicting a guaranteed return. The guide does not establish current values across platforms or patches.

How to choose between farming routes

Because comparable XP-per-hour measurements are not available, choose based on the practical trade-offs rather than a supposed ranked list:

  • Time: Count travel and preparation as well as the activity itself. A nearby objective can be more practical than a high-value target far away.
  • Risk: Weigh the chance of dying and losing progress against the possible reward. Avoid fights that do not serve your route.
  • Repeatability: Check whether an activity can be repeated or is one-time content before building a routine around it.
  • Build dependence: A method that relies on a particular patch, gear setup, unlocked skill, or XP credit bug may stop working or behave differently.

What should you do after reaching level 15?

The reviewed official sources do not identify level 15 as a special progression threshold. For players who have reached the end of their current progression, Techland’s 1 December 2025 update introduced New Game+ and Legend Levels. New Game+ lets you replay Kyle’s story while retaining gear, weapons, and character progression, with increased challenge and improved or rarer loot. Techland Support says New Game+ can be repeated multiple times; each completed run raises difficulty and unlocks stronger, rarer weapons and tougher enemies (Techland’s Update 1.4 announcement; Techland Support on New Game+).
