Two gameplay presets
EA describes Authentic Gameplay as its most true-to-football experience, intended for Career, and Competitive Gameplay as designed for Football Ultimate Team and Clubs, with an emphasis on consistency and responsiveness. These are EA’s descriptions of the presets, not independent performance assessments.
Career: Manager Live Challenges
Manager Live Challenges bring real-world and alternative scenarios that change through the season, giving Career players changing situations to take on.

Clubs and Player Career: Archetypes
Archetypes are player classes inspired by football greats. EA says they add individuality in Clubs and Player Career; some of the newly announced ICONs also inspire Clubs Archetypes.
Ultimate Team: Live Events and Tournaments
Football Ultimate Team adds Live Events and Tournament modes, alongside refreshed Rivals and Champs. EA’s launch description identifies these as mode additions but does not establish how they compare in practice across platforms.

Who are the new EA FC 26 ICONs?
EA announced 12 incoming ICONs: Zlatan Ibrahimović, Alex Morgan, Andrés Iniesta, Toni Kroos, Caroline Seger, Giorgio Chiellini, Sissi, Francesco Totti, Marcelo, Steffi Jones, Oliver Kahn and Cha Bum-Kun. EA says ICONs can be used in Football Ultimate Team, and that some of the new players inspire Clubs Archetypes. This is EA’s announced class.
The ICON-related Ultimate Edition preorder offer was limited to qualifying preorders placed by August 26, 2025. EA described an untradeable Debut ICON from a pool of 15, upgraded to a Champion version later in the year. That deadline has passed, so the announcement is not evidence that the item can still be claimed. See EA’s ICON announcement for the original offer terms.

What did the 2026 international update add?
EA’s 2026 announcement for The World’s Game update describes a standalone international tournament featuring 48 teams, with a group stage, knockout rounds and a final. The update also adds one-off international matchups in Kick Off using 60 selectable nations, alongside related Ultimate Team and Career content. These are later-update features, not launch-day additions. Details are in EA’s update announcement.
How big is EA FC 26’s licensed football roster?
EA’s September 26, 2025 launch announcement says FC 26 includes 20,000+ players across 750+ clubs and national teams, 130+ stadiums and 35+ leagues. These are figures published by EA, not independently audited counts. They differ from an earlier EA partnership announcement dated August 28, 2025, which described 20,000+ athletes, 750+ clubs and national teams, 120+ stadiums, 35+ leagues and 300+ global football partners. The stadium figures are from different dated announcements; they should not be combined into a single count. See EA’s partnership announcement for the August figures.
What should you check before buying?
Since the game has launched, check the current listing rather than relying on old preorder pages. Match the edition and format to your platform, and confirm that the product page names the intended platform. If you are choosing based on a mode, EA positions Authentic Gameplay for Career and Competitive Gameplay for Ultimate Team and Clubs; the 2026 international tournament is a later-update feature. EA’s historical preorder bonuses should not be assumed to come with a current purchase.
EA’s launch announcement listed 20,000+ players, 750+ clubs and national teams, 130+ stadiums and 35+ leagues, but the cited announcement does not independently verify those figures. EA’s launch statement also quoted Nick Wlodyka, SVP and Group GM of EA SPORTS FC, saying the release celebrated “the power of our players to shape a fan-first future for football.” That is the company’s promotional framing, not an independent assessment of the game.
