What changed in EA Sports FC 25?
EA SPORTS FC 25 launched worldwide on 27 September 2024 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch. EA foregrounded two additions: Rush, a 5v5 format, and FC IQ, a tactical system built around player roles.

Rush makes room for short-sided football
EA describes Rush as a new 5v5 mode available in Football Ultimate Team, Clubs and Kick-Off. Its smaller teams and pitch offer a different rhythm from the standard 11-a-side match, and its inclusion in several modes gives players more than one way to try it. That breadth is a meaningful addition if you play those modes; it is less compelling if your main interest lies elsewhere.
FC IQ adds tactical choices, not proof of realism
EA says FC IQ uses a new AI model powered by real-world data to shape tactics through player roles. That is the publisher’s account of the feature, not independent evidence that the game simulates football more realistically. For players who enjoy adjusting tactics and thinking about how roles work together, it offers a potentially engaging layer. Its value is best judged by whether those decisions make your matches more interesting.

Is FC 25 worth playing if you already own FC 24?
The main reservation is novelty. TechRadar’s review, whose reviewer played on PS5, captured both sides of the question: “It’s easy to dismiss EA Sports FC 25 as a glorified reskin of EA Sports FC 24 – and in many respects, it is – but the customarily small tweaks made to graphics and gameplay add up to a near-perfect sports game experience.” That is one reviewer’s judgment, not a universal verdict, but it points to the central trade-off: refinements can add up without making the new game feel like a major reinvention.
Metacritic’s critic page likewise displays praise for tactical and mode changes alongside criticism of limited novelty. Taken together, those reviews support a qualified recommendation rather than a claim that FC 25 is definitively the best or peak football sim.

- If you mostly play Career, do not assume Rush or FC IQ alone makes the upgrade worthwhile; the available evidence here does not establish a separate verdict on Career mode.
What do the player activity figures tell us?
Electronic Arts reported that during the first 25 days after launch, players played 1.7 billion matches and scored 4.3 billion goals across modes. EA also reported nearly 300 million Rush matches in that same launch-period report. These are publisher-reported activity totals, not sales figures, unique-player counts or independent measures of quality. They show that people played the game and tried Rush at scale, but they cannot settle whether FC 25 is a worthwhile upgrade for an individual player.
Which platforms support FC 25?
EA announced FC 25 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch. Platform availability does not establish a current regional price, physical stock or a particular edition. Check the relevant store or retailer for those details before buying.

Online play on Nintendo Switch
Nintendo says online features require a Nintendo Account and a separately sold Nintendo Switch Online membership. That membership condition is specific to online features; it is not evidence that all ways to play require a subscription.

FC 25’s case rests on useful additions rather than a wholesale change of direction. Rush gives players a new 5v5 option across several modes, while FC IQ offers more tactical structure. Reviews recognize those strengths but also the game’s resemblance to FC 24. If those additions suit the way you play, FC 25 has a clear appeal; if you are seeking a dramatic leap over the previous entry, the evidence points to a more modest evolution.
