Ebony Odogaron is an Odogaron subspecies featured in Monster Hunter World: Iceborne and separately listed in Monster Hunter Now. In Monster Hunter Now, it is weak to Water, Poison, and Paralysis; the official profile recommends attacking during gaps between its fast attack sequences and says breaking its head and forelegs weakens it. Those weaknesses and habitats are specific to Monster Hunter Now and should not be assumed to apply in Iceborne.
What is Ebony Odogaron?
Ebony Odogaron is a subspecies of Odogaron. Capcom introduced it for Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, describing a monster that begins fights powered up, carries meat to regain strength, and uses Dragon element attacks. Capcom also noted that those attacks can remove a hunter’s weapon elemental or status properties. These details describe the Iceborne-era monster; they are not a complete move list or weakness chart.
Capcom’s August 29, 2019 introduction called it “quite terrifying” and described its powered-up opening state, meat, and Dragon attacks. Read Capcom’s introduction to Ebony Odogaron.

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne
Capcom identifies Ebony Odogaron as an Iceborne addition, but its introduction does not provide a specific map, quest, or encounter unlock. The announcement states that Iceborne originally launched on PS4 and Xbox One on September 6, 2019, with the PC version following in January 2020; those are historical launch dates, not a statement about current editions or availability. Capcom’s announcement has the original context.
What is Ebony Odogaron weak to?
In Monster Hunter Now, the official profile lists Water, Poison, and Paralysis as weaknesses. Do not carry that weakness list over to Monster Hunter World: Iceborne: the cited Capcom introduction identifies Dragon attacks but does not establish Ebony Odogaron’s Iceborne weaknesses.
How to fight Ebony Odogaron in Monster Hunter Now
The Monster Hunter Now profile says Ebony Odogaron uses breath attacks and quicker, more powerful sequences than regular Odogaron. Its advice is to wait for the openings between sequences and counterattack, rather than trying to force hits while it is still attacking.
- Prioritize breaks: Destroying both the head and forelegs weakens the monster, according to the official profile.
- Watch for the bite: Its bite is more destructive than regular Odogaron’s.
- Watch the front legs: Front-leg attacks can cause bleeding.
- Know the breakable parts: Head, forelegs, hindlegs, and tail. The tail is sever-only.
This advice and these part effects are specific to Monster Hunter Now; the available Capcom Iceborne introduction does not supply equivalent tactical detail.
