What KONAMI has confirmed about eFootball crashes
In its April 16, 2026 notice, KONAMI says: “We are aware that some users have been experiencing an issue where the game crashes.” It adds: “This issue is currently under investigation.” The notice names PS5 among the affected platforms but does not say which game build, mode, or error code is involved, or whether a later update resolved the issue. Check KONAMI’s eFootball notices for any status change; the official sources available here do not establish the latest game build number.
KONAMI’s eFootball 2024 v3.0.0 notes also listed “The application may crash due to an error” among PS5 and PS4 issues targeted by general fixes. That is historical release-specific information, not evidence that every later crash was fixed. Read the v3.0.0 notes.
Try these PS5 troubleshooting steps in order
PlayStation’s guidance is general advice for game crashes and launch problems. It is not a KONAMI-confirmed cure for the issue under investigation. Test the game after each step so you can tell whether anything changed.

- Check for an eFootball update. Open the game’s options from the PS5 home screen and check for an update. Also review KONAMI’s notices for a newer status or update announcement.
- Restart the PS5. Restart the console, launch eFootball again, and note whether the crash returns.
- Restore licenses if appropriate. On PS5, go to Settings > Users and Accounts > Other > Restore Licenses. PlayStation says this does not affect your data and may help when a game crashes. PlayStation’s license-restoration instructions.
- Check for PS5 system software updates. Use Settings > System > System Software > System Software Update and Settings to check for an available update.
- Delete and redownload eFootball. If the crash persists, delete the game and download it again from your game library. This is among PlayStation’s general troubleshooting suggestions; it is not a confirmed eFootball-specific fix. Before deleting, make sure you understand how your game data is stored and synced.
- Try Safe Mode maintenance options if needed. PlayStation lists Clear Cache and Rebuild Database as separate options. Rebuild Database scans the drive and creates a new database. Which steps can erase PS5 data?
Do not treat a console reset as a routine crash fix. PlayStation says Reset PS5 and Reset PS5 (Reinstall System Software) delete user data. Reserve them for a last resort, after backing up important data and following PlayStation support guidance. The less destructive Safe Mode options—Clear Cache and Rebuild Database—are distinct from those reset choices.

Contact KONAMI through its regional and platform support routes. When seeking PlayStation help, provide the error code, a detailed description, the steps that reproduce the problem, and a screenshot or video if possible, as PlayStation’s crash guidance recommends.

- Record whether the crash happens at launch, in a particular menu, or during a match.
- Include what you were doing immediately before it happened and whether it happens consistently.
- Capture any error code and, if possible, a screenshot or video.
KONAMI’s notice does not establish a particular mode or trigger, so these details help describe your case rather than identify a known cause.
