This is a framework for choosing a Strength weapon, not a claim that every named weapon has been tested or that the tiers are official. The evidence available for this guide does not establish current requirements, scaling, damage, movesets, skills, weight, locations, or upgrade routes for specific weapons. Assigning named weapons to tiers without those details would risk giving you a misleading recommendation.

For a meaningful PvE comparison, evaluate weapons on the same assumptions: a Strength-focused build, comparable upgrades and character investment, and the same point in progression. A hybrid build may favor different weapons. Consider practical damage and damage type alongside requirements and scaling; then weigh moveset, reach, speed, stamina demand, stagger potential, skill usefulness, infusion options, weight, and how soon you can obtain the weapon. Strength weapon tiers: what can be ranked responsibly
No specific weapon can be placed in a defensible tier from the available verified item-level facts. Rather than present guessed picks as a current ranking, use these categories to identify what to compare—and check each candidate’s current in-game data before committing your build.

Base game versus Shadow of the Erdtree
Keep expansion weapons separate from base-game recommendations. Bandai Namco describes Shadow of the Erdtree as additional content for Elden Ring, and the official version 1.12 notes identify the update that added expansion support. A tier list that mixes both without labeling ownership requirements can recommend gear a reader cannot access.
Current patch context
The latest patch identified for this guide is Elden Ring version 1.17, released August 27, 2026. Bandai Namco’s official patch notes list gameplay balance adjustments and Tarnished Pack support across PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam. The notes name a PvP-only adjustment to Rakshasa’s Great Katana; that is not evidence of a broad Strength-weapon rebalance. Check the notes for a weapon-specific change before treating any ranking as current, and don’t assume that a PvP adjustment changes PvE performance.

Choosing your own must-have Strength weapon
- Set your mode and build. This guide defaults to PvE and a Strength-focused character. If you play PvP or use a hybrid build, reassess the ranking against those needs.
- Check access. Confirm whether the weapon is in the base game or requires Shadow of the Erdtree, and whether you can reach it at your current point in the game.
- Compare the full kit. Check current requirements, scaling, damage type, moveset, reach, stamina use, stagger potential, weapon skill, weight, and infusion or Ash of War flexibility where applicable.
- Match it to your actual play. A weapon that suits your preferred speed, reach, and skill use may be more useful than one that looks stronger on attack rating alone.
Version and ranking limits
The version 1.17 date is a patch-context baseline, not proof that any individual weapon was changed or remains unchanged. The official notes should be consulted for the specific weapon and mode in question. Because current weapon-by-weapon stats, acquisition details, and balance changes are not established here, this guide does not invent numerical rankings or present unverified locations as fact.
