Play Ironeye as both a ranged attacker and a team enabler: use Eagle Eye to help the expedition find better items, mark a priority enemy so the party can break its temporary weak point and stagger it, then fire Single Shot when you have a clear, useful line through the target.

What Ironeye does

Bandai Namco describes Ironeye as “An archer with split-second judgement and pinpoint accuracy.” That captures the ranged role, but the character also contributes outside direct damage: Eagle Eye benefits the expedition’s item search, while Marking creates a combat opening the whole party can exploit. Bandai Namco’s ELDEN RING NIGHTREIGN Gameplay Guide and its Ironeye character page describe the kit.

Use Eagle Eye during the expedition

Eagle Eye is Ironeye’s passive ability, not an attack to activate. It helps discover more items from foes; Bandai Namco’s advanced tips specify that the benefit is active for all team members during the expedition and helps the party find high-rarity weapons. The publisher does not give a drop-rate percentage, so treat it as a team-wide discovery advantage rather than a guaranteed item or a measurable increase. Bandai Namco’s advanced tips provide that team-wide detail.

This matters during the preparation portion of a run. The game’s beginner guidance describes each day as a limited window to gather loot, defeat lesser enemies, and level up at Sites of Grace before facing the night’s boss. Eagle Eye supports that whole-team gathering phase. Bandai Namco’s beginner tips explain the expedition loop.

Mark a target to create a team opening

Marking is a close-range setup move: Ironeye cuts the foe with a dagger, leaving a temporary weak point. Damage to that point breaks it and staggers the target, and further damage to the point extends the mark’s duration. Because the party can attack the weak point, the practical play is to mark a dangerous or valuable enemy and let teammates focus their attacks on the exposed point while it is available. That coordination follows from the shared weak point and stagger effect; the publisher does not state a guaranteed damage multiplier.

  1. Close enough to use the dagger attack on the enemy you want the team to focus.
  2. Once the temporary weak point appears, signal or otherwise direct the party’s attacks onto it.
  3. Keep pressure on the weak point to break it and stagger the foe; continued damage extends the mark’s duration.

Since Marking requires a close-range approach, use it as a deliberate setup rather than assuming Ironeye can apply it safely from bow range. The official ability descriptions appear in the gameplay guide and on the Ironeye page.

Fire Single Shot through a useful line

Single Shot is Ironeye’s ultimate art: hold to draw the bow, aim, and release a powerful arrow. Bandai Namco says it ignores defenses and pierces enemies, terrain, and structures. Look for a firing line where the arrow can pass through a target or multiple obstacles and enemies; its piercing behavior makes positioning and aim central to getting value from the shot.

The official descriptions do not specify its damage, cooldown, or a particular boss breakpoint. Avoid treating it as a guaranteed defeat or stagger; use the properties the publisher documents—defense-ignoring and piercing—to choose when and where to fire. How to combine the abilities

  • While exploring: Let Eagle Eye work passively as the team searches and fights lesser enemies for expedition resources.
  • When a priority foe is in reach: Use Marking to create the temporary weak point, then have the party concentrate attacks there to break it and stagger the target.
  • When you have a clear opportunity: Hold, aim, and fire Single Shot along a useful path that takes advantage of its ability to pierce enemies, terrain, and structures.

This sequence connects Ironeye’s expedition utility with the team’s combat: Eagle Eye helps during preparation, while Marking and Single Shot serve different combat opportunities. The exact timing depends on the fight; the publisher’s published descriptions do not establish fixed mark durations, cooldowns, or damage values.
