For the peacefulest route through the Emerald Grove in Baldur’s Gate 3, speak with Zevlor, save Arabella through dialogue, investigate Kagha before rescuing Halsin, and then address the goblin threat to the refugees’ journey. The order matters: rescuing Halsin first can close Kagha’s optional investigation, while attacking during Arabella’s judgment can spark a wider fight between druids and tieflings.
Spoilers: This guide covers Arabella, Kagha, Halsin, the Shadow Druids, and the tiefling refugees.

What is happening in the Emerald Grove?
The Emerald Grove, also called the Druid’s Grove, is an Act One location in the Wilderness. First Druid Halsin is absent, and Kagha is leading the druids. She has ordered the Rite of Thorns, which would seal the grove while tiefling refugees are sheltering there and goblins threaten the area.

- The Hollow: Refugees and traders gather here. Zevlor asks you to speak with Kagha about the rite and the refugees.
- The Sacred Pool: The druids conduct their ritual here, around the Idol of Silvanus.
- The Inner Sanctum: Kagha, Rath, and Nettie are here. Arabella’s judgment takes place in the Druid’s Chambers, and Kagha’s hidden chest is in the sanctum.
- The Secluded Cove: This area contains the harpy encounter and the “Investigate the Beach” quest.
- The Underground Passage: This route links parts of the grove to the forest and contains dangerous guardian statues.
Recommended order for a low-conflict Grove route
- Finish the arrival encounter and talk to Zevlor. After the first goblin attack, go to the Hollow and hear Zevlor’s concern about the Rite of Thorns and the refugees.
- Resolve Arabella’s scene before exploring into combat. Enter the Druid’s Chambers and speak with Kagha. If you want to protect Arabella without provoking a fight, choose a suitable persuasive or class-based dialogue option.
- Investigate Kagha before rescuing Halsin. Search the Inner Sanctum for Kagha’s hidden chest and letter, follow the lead to the swamp, then return with evidence and confront her.
- Choose how to handle the Shadow Druids. Exposing the conspiracy can lead to a confrontation. You can fight the Shadow Druids and try to persuade Kagha to reject their plan.
- Deal with the goblin threat. Resolving the Grove’s internal conflict does not settle the danger on the roads. The refugee quest also involves rescuing Halsin and defeating the goblin leaders so the tieflings have a chance to travel safely.
This is a suggested sequence, not a required route. The Grove allows violent and factional outcomes, but the order above preserves the opportunity to pursue Kagha’s evidence quest while reducing the risk of an early, broad conflict.

How to save Arabella
Arabella was caught trying to steal the Idol of Silvanus. Kagha judges her in the Druid’s Chambers while Arabella’s snake, Teela, is present. Choose a persuasive or suitable nature-based dialogue approach to try to save her; which checks and options appear depends on your character and circumstances, so there is no single universal dialogue line or difficulty number to rely on.
If you do nothing, Teela can bite and kill Arabella. Attacking during the judgment is a high-consequence alternative: it can trigger a large-scale fight involving druids and tieflings across the Grove. If Arabella dies, later consequences can affect Kagha and Arabella’s parents.

How to investigate Kagha without missing the timing window
Kagha’s hidden chest in the Inner Sanctum contains a letter that advances “Investigate Kagha” and points toward a covert location in the swamp. Find the evidence there, then return to confront her. Do this before rescuing Halsin; otherwise, the investigation can end early.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsThe evidence can reveal Kagha’s connection to the Shadow Druids and lead to a fight. Persuasion or Religion checks may help convince her to side with the grove druids, and studying all the Inner Sanctum frescos beforehand can help with that persuasion. If Kagha survives and turns against the Shadow Druids, the tieflings can remain in the Grove while they still need shelter.

How the main choices change the outcome
| Route | Arabella | Grove conflict | Kagha investigation and refugees |
|---|---|---|---|
| Save Arabella through dialogue, then investigate Kagha | You preserve the opportunity to save her. | Offers a chance to avoid provoking a Grove-wide fight during the judgment and to seek a less hostile resolution with Kagha. | Keeps the Shadow Druid evidence route open if completed before rescuing Halsin. Persuading Kagha to turn against the Shadow Druids can allow the refugees to stay temporarily. |
| Ignore the judgment or fail to save Arabella | Teela may kill her. | Does not itself guarantee a peaceful outcome elsewhere in the Grove. | Later consequences can affect Kagha and Arabella’s parents. The separate Kagha investigation remains subject to its timing window. |
| Attack during Arabella’s judgment | Her outcome depends on the fight. | Can trigger a battle involving druids and tieflings throughout the Grove. | Does not substitute for investigating Kagha; the evidence route can still be lost if Halsin is rescued first. |
| Continue the refugee quest without investigating Kagha | Arabella’s outcome depends on the earlier judgment. | The broader refugee storyline can proceed through the ritual and goblin conflict. | Rescuing Halsin before following the evidence can prematurely close the optional Kagha route. Defeating the goblin leaders remains relevant to the refugees’ chance of safe travel. |
What resolving Kagha does—and does not—solve
Exposing the Shadow Druids and persuading Kagha can address the immediate internal conflict and give the refugees a place to remain while they need shelter. It does not remove the goblin threat on the roads. The refugee storyline still connects the group’s chance of safe travel to the wider goblin conflict, including the goblin leaders.
