Spoilers for the ending unlock route. End of Abyss has separate normal-ending and secret-ending completion milestones. Guides report that the secret ending requires collecting all eight Data Shards, turning them in at the Mainframe in Lower Levels B3, and defeating the final boss again. The available sources establish how to reach that milestone, but do not document what changes in the ending’s story or cutscene.
What changes between the normal and secret endings?
The confirmed difference is the completion milestone: Exophase’s Xbox Series achievement record lists “You Did It” for the normal ending and “The End” for the secret ending. The achievement record does not describe either ending’s scenes or story. View the achievement record.

How to unlock the secret ending
According to the iTechGuides walkthrough, the route is available after the main story, so its account describes a post-completion route rather than a requirement that must be met before finishing the game. The community Logbook guide also describes beating the normal ending, continuing, turning in the eight shards, and defeating the final boss again. These are third-party guide directions, not official route documentation.
- Collect all eight Data Shards. The iTechGuides walkthrough lists the areas below and credits its route to a 100% Guides walkthrough. Open the shard-location walkthrough.
- Go to the Mainframe in Lower Levels B3 and turn in the full set of shards.
- Defeat the final boss again to complete the reported secret-ending route.

The achievement record is useful for verifying that the game distinguishes the two completion milestones, but it contains no plot summary. The walkthroughs explain the reported unlock route, not what the secret-ending sequence depicts. The official PlayStation listing identifies a PS5 version and describes Cel as “the young combat technician, Cel” investigating disturbances in an underground compound; it does not explain either ending. So, if you are deciding whether to collect the shards for additional story revelations, the sources linked here cannot confirm what the secret ending adds. They support the unlock steps and separate achievement, but not a claim about Cel’s fate, the parasite, or the facility’s purpose.
