For a smoother start in Enotria: The Last Song, learn to mix parries with other defensive choices, build around masks and loadouts, and use enemy affinities to adjust your approach. Resting at a waypoint restores health and flask charges but also brings most ordinary enemies back, so plan when to reset an area.
How should you approach combat as a beginner?
Build your combat rhythm around attacking, reading enemy moves, and choosing when to parry. Jyamma Games says parries can be chained: a partial parry reduces incoming damage, while a perfect parry negates damage depending on the equipped gem, deals Unraveling posture damage, and costs no stamina. The developer describes the perfect-parry effect in its official FAQ.
Attacks and well-timed parries fill an enemy’s Unraveling meter. Once it fills, a finisher deals heavy damage and grants the Awakened state; the bonuses you receive while Awakened depend on your mask. That makes successful timing valuable, but it does not mean every incoming attack should be parried. Use the option that best fits the attack and your ability to read it; the available sources do not establish universal parry timing windows or a rule that parrying is always safer than evading.
How do masks and loadouts work together?
Masks are functional build choices, not just cosmetics. Jyamma Games describes them as pre-made armor sets with passive modifiers, and says quests and characters can react to the mask you wear. Check a mask’s effects before committing to it: a change can alter the strengths of your build and the bonuses you receive while Awakened.
#1 Best Overall
You can prepare up to three customizable loadouts and switch between them. Each can hold two weapons, one parry gem, up to four Lines, and six passive perks from the Path of Innovators, according to the Epic Games Store beginner guide. Use the extra setups to experiment or prepare for different situations rather than treating your first arrangement as permanent.
- The Guise of Spaventa boosts stamina and grants Solar Barrage.
- The Mask of Change boosts heavy attack damage and physical power while Awakened.
These examples illustrate different bonuses, not a guaranteed best choice. Compare the mask’s passive effects with your weapons, parry gem, Lines, and the kind of challenge you are facing.
How should you use weapons, Lines, and attributes?
Make Lines part of your combat loop
Lines are special spells based on enemy abilities. The developer says they drop from enemies, can be equipped up to four per loadout, and charge by attacking. Keep them in mind during ordinary combat rather than saving them indefinitely; attacking helps charge them. A separate loadout can also give you room to try different Lines or combinations.

- Wield Ardore to alter the world around you.
- Stay on the offensive with quicksteps and chainable parries.
- Strike foes to charge powerful magical Lines.
- Strategically swap between up to three Loadouts at any time.
- Break an enemies posture for a devastating attack, granting you a mighty Awakened buff.
Match attributes to the problem you want to solve
The Epic guide describes five attributes, each addressing a different need:
- Bruiser: increases health and physical defense.
- Assassin: increases physical attack.
- Elementalist: raises elemental power and defense.
- Trickster: increases stamina and consumable pouch capacity.
- Battle Mage: increases Ardore power and spell charge speed.
The Epic guide’s author recommends prioritizing Bruiser for survivability, followed by Assassin and Elementalist, while meeting equipment requirements as needed. Treat that as one guide author’s progression suggestion, not an official or universally optimal build. A Severed Braid of a Maiden resets stats; the same guide describes the item as fairly rare, so avoid using it casually.
Adjust weapons and infusions to the enemy
The affinity cycle in the Epic guide is Fatuo over Vis, Vis over Mallano, Mallano over Gratia, and Gratia over Fatuo. Use the matchup and an enemy’s defenses to inform your weapon infusion or elemental choice; no single element is established as best against every opponent.

Older weapon rankings may not match the current movesets. Jyamma Games’ Steam announcements record a January 24, 2025 update with movement and guidance improvements, followed by a March 13, 2025 update that changed most weapon movesets, with changes varying by rarity. Check the date and version behind any specific weapon recommendation rather than assuming an older ranking remains current: official announcements and patch notes.

A waypoint restores health and Armoria flask charges, and lets you change loadouts, assign Path of Innovators perks, level up, and fast-travel to previously tagged points. The trade-off is that resting respawns most non-boss enemies, as described in the Epic beginner guide.

When you die, you wake at your last waypoint. Your carried Memoria must be recovered at the place you died or it is lost. Before resting or pushing farther into an area, consider whether you need the recovery and preparation enough to accept that ordinary enemies will return.

What should you look for while exploring?
Ardore is useful beyond combat: Jyamma Games says it can change environmental states to solve puzzles, reveal secrets, traverse areas, and provide a strategic advantage in battle. Pay attention to unusual symbols and scenery rather than treating Ardore as only a fighting tool.
The Epic guide distinguishes three exploration clues: Reality Rifts change surroundings; Combat Rifts require defeating nearby opponents to access hidden locations; and Canovaccio Glyphs activate with Ardore to reveal translucent platforms. If a route appears blocked or a symbol seems out of place, inspect the area for one of these interactions.
Which advice may be version-sensitive?
Specific weapon recommendations deserve more caution than general system advice because the March 13, 2025 update changed most weapon movesets. By contrast, the core guidance here—experimenting with loadouts, checking affinities, and weighing waypoint recovery against enemy respawns—describes systems laid out in the official FAQ and Epic guide. Jyamma Games’ official site advertises more than 120 weapons, eight weapon classes, 45 spells, and eight parry modifiers; these are developer-published feature counts, not independent measurements. See the official game site for the game’s feature information.
