“ep0lvra3.dll” error messages
You may see one of these messages when Windows starts an Epson utility or another application:
- “The program can’t start because ep0lvra3.dll is missing from your computer.”
- “There was a problem starting ep0lvra3.dll. The specified module could not be found.”
- “Error loading ep0lvra3.dll.”
- “The code execution cannot proceed because ep0lvra3.dll was not found.”

ep0lvra3.dll is an Epson printer-driver component, not a normal Windows file. The safest repair is to identify the Epson printer that installed it and reinstall the complete driver package from Epson rather than downloading the DLL separately.

Available file records identify ep0lvra3.dll as part of an EPSON Printer Driver associated with SEIKO EPSON CORPORATION. The filename alone does not identify the exact Epson printer model. It may belong to an Epson printer utility, print-monitor component, or driver package left behind after a printer was updated or removed.

Public records list different architecture and version details for related copies. One catalogued record describes a 32-bit build, but that does not mean every installation is 32-bit. Treat the installed Epson package, its digital signature, and the model-specific Epson download as authoritative.
This file is not established as:
- A Windows component
- A Microsoft Visual C++ runtime
- A DirectX file
- A .NET Framework file
- A generic DLL that should be registered manually
The wording “specified module could not be found” also needs care. Windows may be unable to load the named DLL because another dependency is missing. Replacing only ep0lvra3.dll therefore often fails.

The problem may appear in Windows startup, Epson Scan or print software, the print spooler, a document application, or an installer. Note where it appears before changing anything. If only one old application fails while printing works normally, that application may be loading an incompatible legacy Epson component.

Fix 1: Reinstall the exact Epson printer package
This is the most likely fix for a missing or unloaded ep0lvra3.dll.
Identify the printer model
- Press Windows + I to open Settings.
- Select Bluetooth & devices.
- Select Printers & scanners.
- Record the complete Epson model name.
- Select the printer and note whether it is still installed.
If the printer is not listed, check the physical label, the original purchase information, or the Epson software still installed on the PC. Do not guess between similar models.
Remove the damaged Epson software
If the printer is still usable and you are uncertain which package is installed, record the model first.
- Open Settings.
- Select Apps > Installed apps.
- Search for Epson.
- Remove the Epson printer utility, scanner utility, or driver package associated with the affected device.
- Restart Windows if the uninstaller requests it.
You can also remove the printer:
- Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
- Select the Epson printer.
- Select Remove.
- Confirm the removal.
Removing the visible application may not remove every driver package from Windows. That is acceptable at this stage. Do not delete random files from C:WindowsSystem32 or the Driver Store.

Download and install the replacement
- Open Epson’s official Support or Download Center.
- Search for the exact printer model.
- Select the correct Windows version and system architecture.
- Download the current printer driver or the recommended combo package.
- Run the installer as an administrator if Windows requests permission.
- Follow the connection instructions for USB or network setup.
- Restart Windows after installation.
- Print a Windows test page.
To print a test page, open Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners, select the Epson printer, choose Printer properties, and select Print Test Page.
The repair worked if the test page prints, the Epson utility opens without the DLL message, and the error does not return after another restart. If the installer reports that the printer is unsupported, return to the model-specific Epson page and verify both the model and Windows architecture.
Fix 2: Check 32-bit and 64-bit compatibility
A 64-bit edition of Windows can run many 32-bit programs. That does not make every driver package interchangeable. An older 32-bit Epson utility may require 32-bit components, while the main printer driver may have a separate x64 package.
To check Windows architecture:
- Open Settings.
- Select System > About.
- Look at System type.
- Record whether Windows is 64-bit or 32-bit.
Install the Epson package explicitly listed for that system type and printer model. Do not mix ep0lvra3.dll files from different Epson packages. Do not copy a 32-bit DLL into a 64-bit driver folder, or vice versa.

Fix 3: Check Windows Security quarantine
Antivirus software can remove or block a driver component after an update or during installation. Do not immediately restore the file.
- Open Windows Security from the Start menu.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Look for an entry mentioning the Epson installer or
ep0lvra3.dll. - Check the detected file path and detection details.
- If the file did not come from Epson’s installer, remove it and run a scan.
- If the file came directly from a verified Epson package, reinstall that package instead of restoring an isolated DLL.
Microsoft warns that restoring a detected file can expose the computer if the detection is genuine. Use Scan options > Full scan. If suspicious behavior continues, use Microsoft Defender Offline scan.

After the scan, download the Epson package again from the official source and install it. A clean reinstall is safer than repeatedly allowing a loose DLL.
Fix 4: Repair Windows components with DISM and SFC
DISM and SFC are useful when Windows has broader problems, such as failed updates, damaged system services, or several unrelated applications reporting missing files. They are not guaranteed to restore a third-party Epson DLL.
Open an elevated Command Prompt:
- Open Start.
- Type Command Prompt.
- Right-click Command Prompt.
- Select Run as administrator.
- Approve the User Account Control prompt.
Run DISM first:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
Wait for it to finish. Then run:
sfc /scannow
Microsoft’s instructions for these commands are available in its System File Checker and DISM guidance.
Restart Windows when both commands finish. Test the Epson printer again. If SFC reports that it repaired files but ep0lvra3.dll is still missing, reinstall the Epson driver. SFC protects Windows system files; it does not necessarily recreate a vendor driver file.
Repeating these commands without checking the Epson installation will not solve a damaged printer package. Fix 5: Do not use regsvr32 unless Epson specifically instructs it
regsvr32 is not a general DLL installation command. It is intended for self-registering COM or OLE libraries that provide a DllRegisterServer entry point.
Do not run:
regsvr32 ep0lvra3.dll
There is no verified evidence that this Epson driver component should be manually registered. If you run the command, Windows may report that the entry point is missing, or the command may create the impression that the file is installed when its dependencies remain broken.
Microsoft explains the correct use and common errors in its regsvr32 documentation. For ep0lvra3.dll, use the Epson installer instead.

Fix 6: Clean an obsolete Epson driver package
Use this step only when the printer has been removed or a confirmed old Epson package is blocking a fresh installation.
First inspect installed driver packages:
- Open Command Prompt as administrator.
- Run:
pnputil /enum-drivers
- Review the output for Epson entries.
- Record the exact Published Name, such as
oem42.inf, and confirm that it belongs to the obsolete Epson package.
Only after confirming the package should you run:
pnputil /delete-driver oem42.inf /uninstall
Replace oem42.inf only with the actual published name you verified. Never substitute an unknown value. Removing the wrong package can leave a printer or another device without a driver.
Microsoft documents the syntax in its PnPUtil command reference and explains driver removal in its Device Manager guidance.
Restart Windows, then install the correct Epson package. If you are unsure which package is safe to remove, leave the Driver Store unchanged and contact Epson support.

If the error began immediately after a driver update, Windows Update, software removal, or system migration, System Restore may return the driver environment to an earlier state.
- Press Windows + R.
- Type:
rstrui.exe
- Press Enter.
- Select a restore point created before the error began.
- Review the affected programs.
- Select Next > Finish.
System Restore does not remove personal documents, but it can remove drivers and applications installed after the selected restore point. Microsoft describes the process in its System Restore guidance.
After restoring, install the current Epson package rather than continuing to use an old driver indefinitely.

If the error remains
Collect these details before trying more changes:
- Exact Epson printer model
- Windows edition and system type
- Where the error appears
- Whether the printer still prints
- Whether Windows Security quarantined a file
- The Epson installer result
- Whether the error began after an update or uninstall
Check Event Viewer by opening Start and searching for it, then review Windows Logs > Application and Windows Logs > System around the time of the error. Also check the Epson installer log if the package provides one.
If the printer is no longer used, remove the Epson software, printer, and confirmed obsolete driver packages instead of restoring ep0lvra3.dll. If Windows has widespread failures beyond this printer, back up important files and review Microsoft’s Windows recovery options.

Is the file always 32-bit?
