Before changing anything, record:
- Which program shows the error: a printer utility, an application during printing, Windows sign-in, or another executable.
- When it appears: during startup, when opening a printer queue, while printing, or after installing an update.
- Your Windows architecture: open Settings > System > About and check System type.
- The printer model: check the printer label, its queue name, or Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
- Whether security software recently quarantined a file.
This information matters because a 32-bit printer driver may be required even on 64-bit Windows. The operating system’s architecture does not by itself determine which copy of the DLL is correct. The printer-driver package does.

What ep7uip00.dll is and whether it is safe
Public file metadata associates ep7uip00.dll with the Epson SIDM printer user-interface plug-in and identifies SEIKO EPSON CORP. as the publisher. SIDM refers to Epson’s serial impact dot-matrix printer family. The file belongs to the Epson printer-driver stack, rather than to DirectX, .NET, Visual C++ Redistributables, or a typical game installation.
The file may be delivered inside an older Windows printer-driver package. That does not make it a core Windows component used by ordinary applications. A public driver record associates one package containing the file with prnep004.inf and an Epson LX Series 1 driver, but that is an example of a package association, not a universal source for every Epson printer.

Some public catalogs list older 32-bit and Windows 7-era file variants. Those records are not an official standalone Epson download and should not be used to choose a replacement file. The correct version, architecture, language, and dependencies come from the complete driver package for your printer.
Fix 1: Remove and reinstall the Epson printer
This is the fastest and most likely repair when the error appears during printing or when Windows opens an Epson utility.
Remove the existing printer
- Press Windows + I to open Settings.
- Select Bluetooth & devices.
- Select Printers & scanners.
- Select the affected Epson printer.
- Choose Remove.
- Confirm the removal.
- Restart Windows.
Removing the queue clears the printer association, but it may not remove every old driver package. That is normally fine for the first pass.

Add the printer again
- Open Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
- Select Add device.
- Wait while Windows searches for printers.
- Select the Epson printer when it appears.
- Follow the installation prompts.
- Print a test page from the printer’s settings page.
Windows may retrieve a compatible driver through Windows Update. Microsoft’s printer installation instructions cover the same workflow.
If the printer does not appear, select Add manually and follow the connection-specific prompts. For a network printer, verify that the printer and PC are on the same network. For USB, connect the cable only when the installer requests it.
If Windows installs the wrong driver
Search Epson’s official support portal for the exact printer model and your Windows release. Download the complete printer-driver package from Epson, not a loose DLL. Run the installer, restart Windows if requested, and print a test page.
The model-specific package is important for older Epson hardware. A generic driver may produce a working queue while still lacking the user-interface or spooler component that expects ep7uip00.dll.

How to tell whether this fix worked
The repair succeeded if:
- The printer appears without a warning icon.
- The original error does not return when opening the queue.
- A Windows test page prints.
- The same executable no longer reports a missing or unloadable DLL.
If the error returns immediately, continue with Device Manager and the driver cleanup steps below rather than downloading ep7uip00.dll separately.
Fix 2: Repair the printer through Device Manager
Use Device Manager when Windows keeps restoring a broken device entry or the printer appears with a warning symbol.
- Right-click Start.
- Select Device Manager.
- Expand Printers, Print queues, and, if present, Universal Serial Bus controllers.
- Locate the Epson printer or its related print device.
- Right-click it and choose Update driver.
- Select Search automatically for drivers.
- Restart Windows and test the printer.
If updating does not help:
- Return to the same device entry.
- Right-click it and select Uninstall device.
- If Windows offers a checkbox to remove the driver package, select it only when you are certain the package belongs to the affected Epson device.
- Select Uninstall.
- Restart Windows.
- Add the printer again from Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.

On supported Windows versions, advanced administrators can inspect or remove a known driver package with pnputil, but use the original signed package and confirm the published name first. Microsoft lists the syntax in its PnPUtil documentation.
Fix 3: Check antivirus quarantine
Security software can remove a printer component after a scan, leaving the Epson package incomplete.
- Open Windows Security.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Look for an event involving
ep7uip00.dll, an Epson driver, or the printer installation directory. - Do not restore the file solely because its name matches the error.
- Confirm that the file belongs to the expected Epson driver package and that the package source is trusted.
- If the event is a confirmed false positive, follow your security product’s restore process.
- Reinstall or repair the Epson driver afterward.
If you cannot verify the file’s location, signature, and parent driver package, leave it quarantined and reinstall the official driver instead. Do not disable antivirus protection indefinitely to force a printer installation.
Fix 4: Repair Windows components with DISM and SFC
This step is secondary. It can repair protected Windows components and servicing problems, but it does not guarantee that a third-party Epson driver will be restored.
- Save your work.
- Open Start and type
Command Prompt. - Right-click Command Prompt.
- Select Run as administrator.
- Approve the User Account Control prompt.
- Run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Wait for it to complete. It may appear to pause at a percentage for some time.
- Then run:
sfc /scannow
- Wait until verification reaches 100 percent.
- Restart Windows.
- Remove and reinstall the Epson printer again.
Microsoft recommends running DISM before SFC because DISM can provide the repair source used by SFC. See Microsoft’s System File Checker guidance.

What success looks like
SFC may report that it found and repaired corrupted files. DISM may report that the restore operation completed successfully. After restarting, test the printer and the exact program that originally displayed the error.

If both tools report no corruption but ep7uip00.dll is still missing, that points back to the Epson driver package rather than Windows’ protected component store.
Fix 5: Check the Print Spooler service
A damaged or stopped Print Spooler can make a valid driver appear unusable.
- Press Windows + R.
- Type
services.msc. - Press Enter.
- Find Print Spooler.
- Check that its status is Running and its startup type is Automatic.
- If it is stopped, right-click it and select Start.
- If it is running, right-click it and select Restart.
- Try printing again.
If the spooler stops again, remove pending print jobs:
- Stop Print Spooler in the Services window.
- Open File Explorer and enter
%windir%System32spoolPRINTERS. - Approve administrator access if requested.
- Delete the files inside that folder, not the folder itself.
- Start Print Spooler again.
- Reinstall the Epson printer.
If the error appears during boot or sign-in, inspect installed printers, shared print-server connections, Epson startup utilities, and the Print Spooler service. The named DLL may be loaded by a printer utility rather than by the application you were actively using.

Do not normally run:
regsvr32 ep7uip00.dll
regsvr32 is intended for DLLs that expose the COM self-registration entry point DllRegisterServer. Printer-driver files are normally installed and managed through the driver package, Driver Store, print subsystem, and spooler. If regsvr32 reports that the entry point was not found, that usually means registration is not applicable, not that the DLL is defective.

Windows Features is also not a source for this Epson file. You can inspect optional printing components through:
- Open Settings.
- Select System > Optional features.
- Select More Windows features.
- Review Print and Document Services.
Do not enable random features expecting them to supply ep7uip00.dll. If a print feature is already enabled, repair the Epson package instead.
Do not download ep7uip00.dll separately
A standalone DLL from an untrusted download site can have:
- The wrong architecture.
- The wrong version or language.
- Missing dependent files.
- An incompatible export or entry point.
- Malware or a modified payload.
- No relationship to your printer model.
Copying it into System32 is not a reliable repair. Printer files may belong in the Driver Store or spool-driver directories, and the installer must place them with the correct package metadata and permissions.
The safe sources are Windows Update, Microsoft’s printer-driver guidance, and the official Epson support portal for the exact model. If no current Epson package supports your Windows release, use a compatible inbox Windows driver where available or contact Epson rather than forcing an older DLL into a protected directory.
What the common error messages mean
These are common reported variants:
- “The program can’t start because ep7uip00.dll is missing from your computer.” The owning printer utility or driver cannot find the file.
- “The code execution cannot proceed because ep7uip00.dll was not found.” The required module was not located during startup.
- “Error loading ep7uip00.dll. The specified module could not be found.” The DLL itself may be missing, or one of its dependencies may be missing.
- “The procedure entry point could not be located…” The installed file may be the wrong version for the program loading it.
- “ep7uip00.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error.” The file may be corrupt, incompatible, incomplete, or blocked.
The phrase “specified module could not be found” does not prove that the named DLL is absent. Replacing only that file will not fix a missing dependency elsewhere in the driver package.
FAQ
Is ep7uip00.dll a virus?
The name is associated with Epson SIDM printer software, so a legitimate copy can exist. Verify its path, digital signature, and parent Epson driver package. A file with this name in an unrelated application directory should be investigated rather than trusted automatically.

Is it part of Windows?
It can be delivered inside legacy Windows printer-driver packages, but it is not a general Windows runtime. Its presence does not mean every Windows installation should contain it.
Is it 32-bit or 64-bit?
Public records are inconsistent, and the correct architecture depends on the installed printer-driver package. Check Settings > System > About, then install the driver intended for the exact printer and Windows architecture.
Will Visual C++ Redistributable repair it?
There is no verified evidence that Visual C++ Redistributables repair this Epson-specific file. Reinstalling the Epson printer driver is the appropriate first repair.
What if the error names a different program?
Identify the executable that displays the message and check which printer, utility, or startup component launched it. If the error does not occur in a printing context, inspect recently installed software before assuming Epson is the owner.
Should I use System Restore?
Use System Restore only if the problem began immediately after a driver or Windows change and a suitable restore point exists. Driver removal and model-specific reinstallation are usually more direct.
