How do I verify the game files in Epic Games Launcher?
Verification is the best first step for an Epic game that suddenly reports “File Not Found.” The launcher compares the installed data with its expected files and replaces items that are missing or damaged. The scan duration depends on the game’s size.
- Open Epic Games Launcher and select Library.
- Find the game showing LS-0014 and click its three dots menu.
- Select Manage.
- Click Verify beside Verify Files.
- Wait for the scan and any downloads to finish, then launch the game again.
Do not interrupt the process by closing the launcher or shutting down the computer. If verification completes but LS-0014 returns immediately, continue with the interference, cache, and permission checks rather than repeatedly starting the same scan.
Could another program be blocking the game?

Use a Windows clean boot when the conflict is unclear
If ordinary exits do not identify the culprit, perform a Windows clean boot using Microsoft’s current clean-boot procedure. A clean boot starts Windows with a minimal set of services and startup programs. If the game launches in that state, re-enable items in groups until the conflicting service or application is identified, then return Windows to normal startup.
A clean boot is a diagnostic state, not a permanent gaming configuration. Keep a record of anything you disable so you can restore it after testing.
How do I clear the Epic Games Launcher cache?
A stale web cache can leave the launcher with incorrect metadata even when the game files are present. Use the instructions that match your launcher and operating system.
Legacy Epic Games Launcher on Windows
- Exit Epic Games Launcher completely, including its tray icon.
- Press Windows + R to open the Run dialog.

If the game works only when elevated, inspect the installation folder’s permissions and any security policy affecting it instead of assuming permanent administrator use is the safest answer. If elevation makes no difference, return to the normal launch path and continue troubleshooting.
What platform checks can explain LS-0014?
A local file problem is not the only possibility. Epic’s general troubleshooting guidance also calls for checking service availability, launcher updates, system requirements, and graphics drivers.
- Service status: Open Epic’s public status page and look for an active incident affecting login, the store, downloads, or game services. The status snapshot available on October 26, 2026 showed all systems operational, but status can change after that time.

- System requirements: Confirm that the computer meets the game’s published operating-system, processor, memory, graphics, and storage requirements.
- Graphics driver: Install a current driver supported by the graphics-card manufacturer and restart Windows if the installer requests it.
An outage can make a launch attempt fail even when your files are intact. If the status page shows an incident, wait for service recovery before performing destructive steps.
Can antivirus or a firewall cause “File Not Found”?
Security software can quarantine, lock, or block Epic Games Launcher files and game executables. Publisher guidance for Epic installations recommends testing whether antivirus or firewall protection is responsible.

- Temporarily disable protection only long enough to attempt a controlled launch.
- If LS-0014 disappears, turn protection back on immediately.
- Create a narrowly scoped exclusion for the Epic launcher and affected game paths, following the security vendor’s instructions.
- Run a security scan and remove any exclusion that is no longer needed.
Do not leave antivirus or firewall protection disabled as a workaround. A targeted exclusion is safer than disabling an entire security product, and the correct exclusion syntax varies by vendor.

When should I reinstall the game?

- Sign in and reinstall the games that are no longer installed.
Make sure you have enough free storage and a stable connection before beginning. If the launcher’s uninstaller warns that games will be removed, stop and confirm that you are prepared to download them again.

Not usually. Epic’s historical Unreal Engine issue UE-97908 records LS-0014 after cleaning an Xcode project in a specific macOS and Unreal workflow. It lists affected Unreal Engine versions 4.24.3 and 4.25, a target fix in 4.26.1, creation on August 31, 2020, resolution on January 5, 2021, and an update on October 26, 2022.

That record is useful when an Unreal developer sees the code after cleaning an Xcode project, but it is not evidence that every current Epic Games Launcher failure is an Unreal Engine defect. For a store-installed game, follow the launcher troubleshooting sequence first.

Will clearing the Epic cache download the whole game again?
No. Cache clearing removes launcher web-cache data, not the installed game directory. The launcher rebuilds the cache when it starts; a full game download is associated with reinstalling the game, not with deleting those cache folders.
Why does LS-0014 affect only one game?
