EVE Online: Legion launched on 27 May 2025, after CCP announced the date at EVE Fanfest. The event also revealed EVE Vanguard’s Operation Nemesis pre-alpha event and an initial Summer 2026 Early Access target. CCP later moved Vanguard’s Steam Early Access beyond Summer 2026 without announcing a replacement date.
When did EVE Online: Legion release?
CCP announced at EVE Fanfest on 2 May 2025 that the Legion expansion would launch on 27 May. The expansion notes later specified an 11:00 UTC release time. That date has passed: Legion is a released EVE Online expansion, not an upcoming launch. CCP’s announcement and expansion notes record the announcement and launch details.
What did CCP announce for Legion?
CCP presented Legion around cooperation and corporation activity, with Freelance Jobs, new warships and sovereignty upgrades among its headline features. The launch notes show that the expansion also included changes across the game, rather than only those three items.
Freelance Jobs and corporation features
Freelance Jobs let player-run corporations post tasks that pilots outside their membership can take on. CCP described the system as a way for newer or independent pilots to find work, earn ISK, gain experience and connect with corporations. The notes also include Corporation Palette and an Omega Benefits Window.

What was announced for EVE Vanguard at Fanfest?
EVE Vanguard is a separate ground-combat game set in the EVE universe, not part of the Legion expansion. At Fanfest, CCP announced Operation Nemesis, a free open pre-alpha event scheduled to begin on 16 September 2025, and described Early Access as planned for Summer 2026. CCP’s Fanfest announcement gave those original plans.

In an August 2025 director’s letter, Game Director CCP Collins said, “We’re still in pre-alpha.” The letter described Operation Nemesis as a way to gather player feedback while development continued toward Early Access. CCP later specified the event’s run as 12:00 UTC on 16 September through 12:00 UTC on 2 October 2025. Those dates describe the past event, not a current opportunity to join it. The director’s letter contains the event schedule and development context.

There is no replacement date in CCP’s latest cited schedule update. The Summer 2026 target announced at Fanfest was subsequently postponed: in its 3 February 2026 Directors’ Letter, CCP said Steam Early Access was moving beyond Summer 2026 and that more news would follow. The letter gave no new date. Its wording was: “A note on dates: Update your calendars, as EVE Vanguard’s Steam Early Access release is moving beyond Summer 2026 — giving us the time needed to deliver a stronger, more fully realized experience for players.” The statement is from the letter signed by CCP Burger, CCP Rattati and CCP Okami.
