Switch 2 announcements that are not original Switch releases
Nintendo also announced titles specifically for Switch 2. They should not be counted as games coming to the original Nintendo Switch.

Nintendo’s event archive identifies the presentation as “Nintendo Direct 9.9.2026,” and its recap covers both generations: Nintendo’s event archive.
Some Direct announcements were already available that day
The presentation was not exclusively a forward release calendar. Nintendo also said that titles including MECCHA CHAMELEON and Crisis Core –Final Fantasy VII– Reunion for Switch 2 would be available later on September 9, 2026. Those are same-day availability announcements, not future release dates. Because the Direct was on September 9 and this article is current to October 8, check Nintendo’s current game pages or eShop listings for the latest availability before treating any announced window as still upcoming.

How to read Nintendo’s release windows
- Exact dates—such as December 10, 2026, or January 14, 2027—are the specific launch dates Nintendo announced.
- Season, part of year, or year only—such as spring 2027, early 2027, or 2027—are broader windows, not exact launch dates.
- Platform labels matter: a game announced for Switch 2 alone is not thereby an original Switch release. The Direct included announcements for both systems, and Nintendo specified platforms title by title.
- Announcement type matters: the recap included new games, collections, editions, updates and games available on Direct day. It is not a list of future full-game launches only.
The titles above are selected examples with platform and timing details confirmed in Nintendo’s recap, not an exhaustive inventory of every game shown. For the complete announcement record, consult Nintendo’s September 9, 2026 Direct recap.
