What the error tells you—and what it doesn’t
The message reports that patch files could not be downloaded, but the available Square Enix forum discussion does not explain the technical meaning of the codes or establish one cause or universal fix. One player report shows [30413][25008][20495][20495] alongside the wording “Unable to download patch files.” Do not assume those codes identify a particular network fault.

Square Enix moderator Votraftur asks players to provide connection and failure details in the official support-forum discussion. That is useful intake guidance, not a complete troubleshooting procedure for every platform.

Before changing settings, note the details that let you describe the problem accurately:

These are the kinds of details requested in the forum support discussion. Record them before trying fixes so you can report what changed, if anything.
Try a connection comparison if you use Wi-Fi
If your device is on Wi-Fi, you can compare the result on a wired connection, if one is available. The forum asks whether a player is wired or wireless, but it does not establish that switching to Ethernet fixes this error. Consider DNS or patch-folder changes cautiously
Forum discussions include reports of changing DNS settings and suggestions to remove the local patch folder. They are anecdotal options, not confirmed fixes, and outcomes vary. If you consider either, use current platform-specific guidance rather than guessing at settings or deleting files you cannot identify. When and how to contact Square Enix support
Contact Square Enix support if the download still fails or you need platform-specific instructions. Include the complete error and codes, your platform and launcher, whether this is an install or update, where the failure occurs, and how often it happens. Also report:
- Whether you use a VPN.
- Whether your connection is wired or wireless.
- Your internet service provider and region or state.
- Any troubleshooting steps you have already tried and their results.
