The outfield roster below follows FIFPlay’s FC 25-specific reference; EA’s official FC 25 gameplay guide supplies the goalkeeper effects and explains how the tiers work. Lists and availability can vary by mode, update, and player item, so check the relevant in-game details when choosing a player.
How PlayStyles work in FC 25
PlayStyles represent particular on-pitch abilities. A regular PlayStyle boosts its associated action; PlayStyle+ is the enhanced tier. EA’s goalkeeper descriptions illustrate the difference: the regular version improves an action, while the plus version generally strengthens that improvement. This is a description of gameplay effects, not a promise that a player will win a particular contest or match.

EA frames PlayStyles alongside FC IQ and HyperMotionV as foundational gameplay features in FC 25. That is EA’s product framing, not an independent assessment. In its July 25, 2024 gameplay deep dive, EA also reported an animation-library expansion from 1,373 players with upper-body movement in FC 24 to 1,847 athletes with full-body movement in FC 25. EA’s FC 25 Gameplay Deep Dive describes six goalkeeper PlayStyles and their regular and PlayStyle+ effects. The wording below follows EA’s descriptions; it is not a ranking of which style is best.

EA’s July 25, 2024 FC 25 gameplay deep dive is the primary source for these goalkeeper effects. FIFPlay’s reference says goalkeeper PlayStyle buffs are limited to Be a Goalkeeper modes in Player Career and Clubs; treat that mode limitation as secondary-source guidance and confirm it in the mode you play.

Which PlayStyles are best for each position?
There is no single objective best-style ranking established here. A useful starting point is to match the action named by a style to your player’s role and the way you play: scoring styles concern finishing actions, passing styles concern distribution, defending styles concern defensive actions, and control or physical styles concern how a player handles the ball or physical situations. Goalkeeper styles describe keeper actions such as claiming crosses, rushing out, or distributing with throws. The value of a style depends on position, mode, player item, and your approach; the category names alone do not establish a universal ranking.
PlayStyles by game mode and player item
EA says PlayStyles appear across Ultimate Team, Career Mode, and Clubs, but how a player gets or equips them differs by mode. In Ultimate Team, you cannot manually edit the PlayStyles on a player item. Instead, EA says different versions can be obtained through Packs, Objectives, the Transfer Market, or Evolutions; Evolutions can grant player items new PlayStyles. EA also states that PlayStyles do not directly change chemistry. EA Help’s PlayStyles and PlayStyles+ guide explains these rules.
