The free-play weekend often associated with this headline was for F1 22, not F1 Manager 2022, and it took place in October 2022. The available official announcements do not establish a free offer for either game this weekend, October 8–11, 2026.
Which game was free?
F1 22 and F1 Manager 2022 are separate games. EA announced a free-play event for its racing game, F1 22; it was not an announcement for the management game. EA listed PlayStation, Xbox, and Steam as participating platforms (EA’s event announcement).

F1 Manager 2022 had a distinct Steam free-weekend announcement in March 2023, listed on its official Steam product page. That was a separate, historical event and does not make the game free now.
When did the F1 22 free weekend take place?
EA and Steam gave the event dates as October 20–24, 2022. Xbox Wire listed its Xbox Free Play Days dates as October 20–23, 2022, and said Xbox participation required Xbox Live Gold or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate (Xbox Wire’s event listing). These dates and terms have expired.

Could players keep their progress?
EA said progress from the 2022 F1 22 free weekend would carry over if a player bought the game afterward. Steam also advertised a purchase discount through November 1, 2022. Both were terms of that past promotion, not current offers (EA; Steam Community Announcements).

Check the game’s listing on your platform for a newly announced trial or promotion, and verify the event dates and any subscription requirement before downloading. Do not treat the 2022 F1 22 event or the 2023 F1 Manager 2022 Steam event as active.
