Keep transfer fees and wages in view together. RealSport101’s guide advises retaining funds and managing wages, and reports objectives including a forward signing and shirt sales. Treat those as possible career objectives rather than universal requirements: the objectives shown in your save should determine how much you reserve.
Which formation should you use?
A midfield 4-4-1-1 is a sensible opening option if you want Almirón close to Rondón while retaining two lines of midfield cover. RealSport101 recommends this shape and names 4-2-3-1, 4-4-2, and 4-1-2-1-2 as alternatives. - Put Almirón behind Rondón. Use Almirón as the link between midfield and attack, with Rondón as the central forward.
- Keep a midfielder in reserve. The cited guide suggests asking Ki Sung-yueng to stay back while attacking, giving the back line cover when other players move forward.
- Use Yedlin’s runs selectively. Set DeAndre Yedlin to overlap when you want width from the right, but avoid sending him forward without cover if the opposition is threatening the space behind him.
- Keep Rondón central. The guide recommends a central target-man role. Use it to give crosses and forward passes a clear focal point.
- Choose Ritchie’s job to suit your attack. Matt Ritchie can come short and either cut inside or stay wide to cross; decide based on whether your side needs another central option or natural width.
These are a starting configuration from a contemporaneous strategy guide, not tested outcomes. Where should you strengthen the squad?
The source-era guide flags left midfield and left back as positions to consider improving. Its reasoning is tied to the FIFA 19 roster: Kenedy is listed on loan at left midfield and Barreca on loan at left back. Check your squad update and loan status before treating either position as an urgent vacancy.
- Left midfield: Look for pace if you want a player who can carry the ball and help stretch the opposition.

How to develop players and manage the first season
Use development and loans to avoid blocking prospects who need regular minutes.
