- Base-gold OVR: the initial Ultimate Team player-card overall ratings. The GamesRadar+ list cited here covers the top 22 entries and is marked correct as of September 4, 2021; it does not verify a complete top 100. GamesRadar+: FIFA 22 ratings.
- Career Mode potential: a projected development rating, not the player’s launch-day base OVR.
- Special Ultimate Team items: later promotional and SBC cards that can have higher OVRs than base cards.
Accordingly, the table below is the supported launch-period top 22, not a reconstructed top 100.

#1 Best Overall
- GOALKEEPER REWRITE: A brand new goalkeeper system brings a new level of intelligence to the last line of defence, unlocking more reliable shot-stopping and smarter decision-making between the posts. In FIFA 22, goalkeeper positioning personality replicates the different styles of keepers throughout the game - to represent the lightning-fast reflexes of world-class shot stoppers
- TRUE BALL PHYSICS: Real-world data imported into FIFA 22 takes the game’s ball physics to a new level of realism. Tuned parameters including speed, swerve, air drag, air resistance, ground friction, and rolling friction mean every touch, trap, shot, volley, pass, and dribble will look, move, and fly like the real thing
- EXPLOSIVE SPRINT: A new gameplay mechanic that changes the dynamic of one-on-one situations, Explosive Sprint gives you more control over acceleration when dribbling or defending. Lure opponents in and choose when to unleash your full speed to get away from the defender as you drive your team forward in attack
- NEW ATTACKING TACTICS: New Attacking Tactics give you more control over how you want your team to play. Set up your team with different styles in each half of the pitch: keep the ball in your half and explode into attack with fast build up in the opponent’s, play direct from box to box, or line up in your own unique style
- New ICONS - Mix today’s biggest stars with FUT ICONS: the greatest players to ever play the game. Wayne Rooney, Robin van Persie, Iker Casillas, and Cafu join over 100 of football’s all-time giants including Pele, Maradona, Cruyff, Ronaldo Nazário, Zidane, Beckham, and more in FUT 22

Examples of non-Icon 99-rated items in that archive include Ousmane Dembélé Premium Futties, Mohamed Salah Premium Futties SBC, and Robert Lewandowski Player Moments SBC. The same database also shows Pelé Icon Moments at 99 OVR. Pelé is an Icon, so his item does not qualify for a non-Icon ranking. FUTWIZ provides separate filters for Non Icons, Icon Moments, and FUT Heroes, alongside promo categories such as Futties, Player Moments, TOTS, and TOTY. The filter choice matters if compiling an exhaustive list—especially whether Heroes count as non-Icons—and any such list needs a defined database and snapshot date. FUTWIZ FIFA 22 players database.

Career Mode potential is a different rating
EA’s Career Mode material lists Kylian Mbappé at 95 potential OVR, with Erling Haaland and Gianluigi Donnarumma at 93. Potential describes a development value in Career Mode; it is not a launch-period Ultimate Team base rating, so it should not be inserted into the base-gold ranking. - Identify the category and snapshot. Confirm whether the item is base gold, a named promo or SBC version, an Icon, or a Hero, and note which database and date you are using.
- Check the position and attributes. Compare the listed position and six face attributes, rather than assuming two cards with the same OVR perform alike.
- Consider chemistry and links. EA says a Premier League Hero can link with any other Premier League player regardless of club; nationality can also create a link across leagues. That chemistry role is separate from OVR. EA: FIFA 22 FUT Heroes.
- Use platform details for market comparisons. If comparing prices, specify the platform and check a current listing; archived database coin values are not current-price evidence.
