Final Fantasy Resonance contains the same story and gameplay content on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. The native Switch 2 edition is the technical upgrade: launch-period comparison testing reported a roughly 60-fps target, a sharper image and substantially shorter loading. What is the difference between the Switch and Switch 2 versions?

Is Final Fantasy Resonance better on Switch 2?

The advantage is not extra chapters, characters or modes. Content is equivalent, so owners of an original Switch do not miss story material by choosing that edition. The Switch 2 version is primarily worthwhile for its performance and presentation, provided you accept its separate save and physical-media arrangements.
Can I transfer a Switch save to the Switch 2 version?
No. Nintendo’s product information says save data cannot move from the Nintendo Switch version to the Nintendo Switch 2 version, and the reverse transfer is also unavailable. Treat the editions as independent products: progress made on one must be continued on that edition.
This matters if you expect to replace an original Switch with a Switch 2 soon. Buying the older edition now does not create a documented entitlement to the native Switch 2 edition or a way to carry its progress forward. Waiting until you have the target console avoids starting the game twice.

Does the original Switch version run at 60 fps?
No. Launch-period testing reported an approximately 30-fps target for the original Switch edition, with dips in certain areas and cutscenes. The approximately 60-fps target was reported for the native Switch 2 edition.

If you own only an original Switch
Choose the Nintendo Switch edition. It is the compatible native product, and any demo or existing progress tied to that edition remains relevant there.

Waiting is the safest choice because the editions do not share saves and no upgrade pack has been announced. Otherwise, buy only if you are comfortable keeping that progress on the original console version.
If you collect physical games
The reported formats favor the original Switch release if avoiding downloads is important: it uses a full cartridge, while the Switch 2 game-key card requires a download.
