The encounter has two distinct phases. Ramza starts alone against Wiegraf. When Wiegraf is defeated, he transforms into Belias, and your selected party joins Ramza against Belias and three Archaeodaemons. That change makes Ramza’s individual survival the first priority, followed by party-wide damage and threat management.

Prepare Ramza for the Wiegraf duel
Use a physical job and equip the abilities that your save actually has available. A Wccftech guide by Francesco De Meo, published October 2, 2025, reports a detailed setup tested in Enhanced Mode on Tactician difficulty; it presents alternatives rather than a mandatory build. Its strategy is described as usable across current difficulty settings and Classic Mode, but that is the guide author’s assessment, not a guarantee that every mode has identical balance or behavior.

How to beat Wiegraf
Wiegraf uses Holy Sword’s Hallowed Bolt and has a high chance to counter physical attacks with Counter, according to the Wccftech guide. Do not trade repeated ordinary attacks if they leave Ramza exposed to counters. The guide’s core plan is to use distance and buffs to build enough attack power to defeat Wiegraf in one strike, with Auto-Potion helping Ramza endure the setup.
- Create space. Move away when possible so Ramza has time to prepare instead of immediately committing to close combat.
- Build the right advantage. Use Focus to raise attack power. If Ramza’s Bravery is too low for Auto-Potion to trigger consistently, use Steel; if Wiegraf’s speed is producing consecutive turns, use Tailwind to improve Ramza’s turn order.
- Recover if needed. If Wiegraf’s damage outpaces X-Potion recovery, heal with an available ability or the Items command rather than assuming the reaction alone will keep Ramza safe.
- Take the finishing opportunity. Once Ramza can defeat Wiegraf in one hit, attack. The guide recommends striking from behind to improve the hit chance.
Judge readiness by Ramza’s actual damage, healing, Bravery, and turn order in your battle. The source does not establish a level or buff count that works for every character setup.

How to handle Belias and the Archaeodaemons
After Wiegraf falls, Ramza’s party joins the battle against Belias and three Archaeodaemons. Belias can summon Cyclops for heavy area damage and can inflict Silence or Petrify, so a plan that depends entirely on casting is vulnerable. The guide’s Cyclops warning is especially tied to Tactician difficulty; damage severity should not be assumed identical across modes.

- Pressure Belias with physical damage. The guide recommends focusing attacks on Belias quickly rather than letting the phase become a prolonged exchange.
- Protect Ramza. The attack boosts used for the duel can make him a major damage source in this phase, so avoid exposing him unnecessarily.
- Control threats when possible. If Mustadio is in the party, Arm Shot can Disable Archaeodaemons for a few turns, creating room to concentrate on Belias.
- Account for area attacks and status. Avoid needless clustering when Cyclops is a threat, and do not rely on a character whose only useful contribution can be shut down by Silence or Petrify.
Does the advice change between Enhanced and Classic?
Square Enix describes Enhanced as featuring improved graphics, voiced dialogue, refined gameplay, tuned features and battle mechanics, plus a more accessible Squire difficulty setting. Classic brings together the graphics and gameplay of the 1997 version with the War of the Lions translation. The Wccftech setup was tested in Enhanced Mode on Tactician, while its author says the principles carry over to current difficulty settings and Classic. Treat the tactical ideas—survival, spacing, a decisive attack, then party focus—as adaptable guidance rather than proof that item access, AI behavior, or damage values match across versions.
