Square Enix calls Rebirth an action RPG and says players can start with it without having played another Final Fantasy game. It also includes an in-game recap video covering Final Fantasy VII Remake for players who want that story context. See Square Enix’s Rebirth product page and Xbox Wire’s launch-week roundup.
What is Final Fantasy VII Part 3 called, and when does it come out?
The third and concluding game is officially titled Final Fantasy VII Revelation. Square Enix lists April 8, 2027 as its planned release date. That is a planned date, not a statement that the game has already launched.
#1 Best Overall
- Remaster of the original CRISIS CORE - FINAL FANTASY VII-, featuring a complete HD graphics overhaul, a remastered soundtrack, a reimagined UI, and an updated combat system.
- The story begins seven years before the events of FINAL FANTASY VII (1997) and follows Zack Fair, a young and ambitious Shinra SOLDIER operative. Zack is tasked with tracking down a missing SOLDIER 1st Class operative named Genesis Rhapsodos.
- But as his adventure unfolds, he discovers the dark secrets of Shinra's experiments and the monsters they create. The game features a number of characters from the FINAL FANTASY VII franchise such as Cloud, Sephiroth, Aerith and others.
Square Enix’s current product page lists Revelation for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, Nintendo Switch 2, PS5, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. The publisher’s June 6, 2026 announcement said the game would arrive in spring 2027 and described it as the remake series’ first simultaneous multi-platform release. The product page supplies the specific planned date; the announcement provides the simultaneous-launch context. See Square Enix’s Revelation product page and Square Enix’s June 6, 2026 announcement.

The January 28, 2026 confirmation came before the final game had an official title or release date. In a social post reproduced by Windows Central, director Naoki Hamaguchi said Xbox players would receive Rebirth and “the last part of the trilogy.” Square Enix later confirmed Rebirth’s Xbox availability and announced the final installment as Revelation, with its platform list and planned date.

The key distinction is that the first answer is about a game players can get now, while the second is about a future release: Rebirth is available on Xbox Series X|S; Revelation is listed for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC with an April 8, 2027 planned date. The available platform information does not establish comparative performance, price, edition parity, or whether progress carries between games.
