Final Fantasy VII Rebirth’s Version 1.050 update added Versatility Mode, a PS5 Pro-only option that combines characteristics of the game’s Performance and Graphics modes. Square Enix’s English notice said the update would be available November 4, 2024; its Japanese notice, dated November 5, said distribution began that day. The different dates reflect the notices’ regional and publication context.
What Version 1.050 added
Square Enix described Version 1.050 as including fixes for some bugs and improvements to functionality and stability. Its headline addition was Versatility Mode, which brings together characteristics of the existing Performance Mode and Graphics Mode. The Japanese notice calls the mode “Enhance Mode”; the English-language branding is “Versatility Mode.”

The mode is available when playing on PS5 Pro, not on every platform that runs Rebirth. Square Enix says PS5 Pro’s PSSR resolution technology enables motion at 60 fps, as in Performance Mode, alongside high resolution equivalent to Graphics Mode. The company also says it optimized rendering specifically for PS5 Pro and used High CPU Frequency Mode to improve gameplay stability. These are Square Enix’s descriptions; the notices do not provide independent benchmark results or a numerical resolution specification.

When the update was announced and distributed
- English notice: Square Enix said Version 1.050 would be available from November 4, 2024. The notice also said the PS5 Pro version was scheduled for release November 7, 2024.

How Versatility Mode compares with the existing modes
| Mode or feature | Platform eligibility | Motion and resolution description |
|---|---|---|
| Performance Mode | Existing mode; the notices do not give a complete platform-by-platform eligibility breakdown. | Square Enix describes its motion as 60 fps in the explanation of Versatility Mode. |
| Graphics Mode | Existing mode; the notices do not give a complete platform-by-platform eligibility breakdown. | Serves as the reference for Versatility Mode’s stated high-resolution equivalence; no numerical resolution is specified. |
| Versatility Mode (Japanese notice: Enhance Mode) | Selectable when playing on PS5 Pro. | Square Enix says PSSR enables Performance Mode-like 60 fps motion and resolution equivalent to Graphics Mode. |
The comparison reflects Square Enix’s announced design goals, not a measured guarantee that every scene holds a particular frame rate or resolution.

Version 1.050 is not the latest update identified by Square Enix’s notices. A later Japanese notice dated June 3, 2026 reports PS5 Version 1.090 and says that update was implemented for the PS5, Epic Games Store, and Steam versions. It does not establish the latest version number for every platform, so no broader platform-version claim follows from that notice. See Square Enix’s June 3, 2026 update notice.

- Immerse yourself in the city of Midgar like never before, with improved textures, lighting, and background environments
- Players can switch between two game modes: o "Graphics Mode" prioritises 4K high-resolution graphics o "Performance Mode" prioritises smooth action at 60 frames per second
- Capture and share your memorable moments from the game with a fully customisable “Photo Mode”
- Players can enjoy immersive battles by using the DualSense PlayStation 5 controller with its haptic feedback integration
Square Enix’s official Rebirth page describes the game as part of the three-title remake project and lists it for PS5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. That broader platform availability does not make the PS5 Pro-specific Versatility Mode available on those other platforms.
