FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE INTERGRADE is the enhanced PlayStation 5 edition of FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE, and it includes the complete Remake game plus FF7R EPISODE INTERmission, the separate Yuffie Kisaragi story. It also adds PS5 graphics options, a 60-fps Performance Mode, Photo Mode, DualSense features and a group of bonus items.
The key buying distinction is between Intergrade and the free PS5 enhancement for eligible PS4 owners: the enhancement upgrades the main game but does not include INTERmission. If you want the base game and Yuffie’s episode together, look for the complete Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade PS5 package rather than only the upgrade entitlement.

Intergrade contains two separate playable components: the PS5 version of the main FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE campaign and FF7R EPISODE INTERmission. The first is Cloud Strife’s Midgar adventure; the second is a Yuffie-led side story set in the same world.
The complete Remake campaign
The included game follows Cloud, a former SOLDIER operative working as a mercenary, as he joins Avalanche’s fight against Shinra in Midgar. It is the first entry in a planned, multi-part remake project. Its story draws from the 1997 FINAL FANTASY VII through the escape from Midgar, while adding new scenes and material.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
That means Intergrade is not the entire remake project, and it is not the complete story of the original game. Buying it gives you the first Remake game and its PS5 enhancements, not every future installment.
Yuffie’s separate episode
INTERmission is included with an Intergrade purchase. You select it as its own story content rather than as a chapter inside Cloud’s campaign. The episode puts you in control of Yuffie Kisaragi, a Wutai ninja who infiltrates Midgar and works with Avalanche HQ to steal Shinra’s ultimate materia.

The episode adds characters and factions that are not the focus of the main campaign, including Sonon Kusakabe, Zhijie, Avalanche HQ members Nayo, Billy Bob and Polk, and Weiss, the ruler of Shinra’s Deepground research center. Square Enix also describes new combat and gameplay features built around Yuffie’s signature fighting style, which supports both close-range and long-range attacks.
What is the difference between Intergrade and INTERmission?
Intergrade is the name of the enhanced PS5 edition and bundle. INTERmission is the name of the Yuffie episode contained in that bundle. They are related, but they are not interchangeable names for the same product.
The official PlayStation description presents INTERmission as standalone chapters outside the main game. In practical terms, an Intergrade listing should provide both the PS5 Remake campaign and access to the Yuffie story, while an INTERmission listing refers only to the additional episode.

Which PS5 upgrades are included?
Intergrade changes the presentation and controls of the main Remake experience with features designed for PlayStation 5. The advertised options are:

| Improved textures | Higher-quality textures improve the appearance of characters, objects and surfaces. |
| Improved lighting | Lighting upgrades add visual detail to scenes and environments. |
| Improved background environments | Background areas receive additional visual refinement. |
| Graphics Mode | Prioritizes 4K high-resolution graphics. |
| Performance Mode | Prioritizes smoother action at 60 frames per second. |
| Photo Mode | Provides a fully customizable way to compose and capture in-game images. |
| DualSense integration | Uses the PS5 controller’s haptic-feedback features. |
Graphics Mode and Performance Mode are priorities rather than two versions of the story. Graphics Mode favors image resolution; Performance Mode favors a smoother 60-fps target. The package does not include a DualSense controller, so the haptic features require compatible PS5 hardware.
Which bonus items come with Intergrade?
Square Enix’s listing names bonus equipment and summon materia. The items can be obtained from the Gift Box on the main menu.
| Category | Included items |
|---|---|
| Weapon | Cacstar |
| Armor | Midgar Bangle; Shinra Bangle; Corneo Armlet |
| Accessories | Superstar Belt; Mako Crystal; Seraphic Earrings |
| Summon materia | Carbuncle; Chocobo Chick; Cactuar |
The Cacstar has a specific restriction: it can be used only in FF7R EPISODE INTERmission. The other listed bonuses are also delivered through the Gift Box, so they are not necessarily placed directly in a character’s inventory at the start of a save.
Is Intergrade the whole Final Fantasy VII remake?
No. Intergrade covers the first game in the multi-part remake project, whose playable story is centered on Midgar and ends with the party’s escape. It does not include the later installments that continue the remake project, and it does not recreate the entirety of the 1997 original in one package.

This scope is important when comparing the game’s title with the original. “Remake” describes the first installment’s reimagining of the Midgar portion, while “Intergrade” identifies the enhanced PS5 edition of that installment.
How does the free PS5 upgrade differ from Intergrade?
Eligible owners of the original PS4 release can download a PS5 enhancement update, but that entitlement does not include Yuffie’s episode. To play INTERmission, those owners must obtain the PS5 version first and then purchase the episode separately.
| Purchase route | Main PS5 Remake game | INTERmission | PS5 enhancements |
|---|---|---|---|
| Intergrade package | Included | Included | Included |
| Qualifying PS4 owner claiming the PS5 enhancement | PS5 upgrade entitlement | Not included; separate purchase required | Included with the PS5 version |
| PS4 version received through PlayStation Plus Monthly Games | Not eligible for the free PS5 digital-version upgrade according to the official PlayStation information | Not included | Not obtained through that free-upgrade route |
The practical question is therefore not simply whether a listing says “PS5.” Check whether it grants the complete PS5 game or only an upgrade, and check whether INTERmission is included or sold separately.
What is in the Standard Edition and Digital Deluxe Edition?
The Standard Edition contains the PS5 Remake game and FF7R EPISODE INTERmission. The Digital Deluxe Edition contains those same game components and adds a digital artbook plus a digital mini-soundtrack.
| Edition | Base Remake game | INTERmission | Additional digital content |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard Edition | Included | Included | None listed beyond the Intergrade bonuses |
| Digital Deluxe Edition | Included | Included | Digital artbook and digital mini-soundtrack, including the song “Descendant of Shinobi” named in Square Enix’s press material |
If Yuffie’s story is your priority, the Digital Deluxe Edition is not required. Its extra value is the artbook and mini-soundtrack, not additional access to the episode.

How is INTERmission delivered in a physical copy?
For physical packaging, Square Enix describes the Yuffie episode as a downloadable-content voucher code. An internet connection is required to download it. The exact retailer, region and condition of a used copy therefore matter: a box that mentions Intermission does not by itself confirm that the voucher is still available for redemption.
- Confirm that the package is the PS5 Intergrade edition, not the original PS4 release.
- Check whether the listing says INTERmission is included rather than merely describing PS5 upgrade rights.
- For a used physical copy, ask whether the downloadable-content code has already been redeemed.
- Verify the code’s region compatibility with the PlayStation account that will use it.
- Plan for an internet connection when redeeming and downloading the episode.
Which platforms and regional details should you check?
Intergrade was introduced as a PlayStation 5 product, but platform availability can vary by release and region. Square Enix announced versions for Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC for January 22, 2026. Because packaging, storefront entitlements and promotional extras can differ between platforms, read the specific store page or box description for the version you are buying.
The inclusion rules in this article describe the Intergrade bundle and the PS4-to-PS5 upgrade path. They should not be assumed to apply identically to every later platform release without checking that platform’s listing.

Which version should you buy?
Choose based on the content you already own and the extras you want:
- You own no version: Choose Intergrade if you want both Cloud’s complete first Remake game and Yuffie’s episode in one purchase.
- You own the PS4 game and qualify for the PS5 enhancement: Claim the upgrade for the enhanced main game, then budget for INTERmission separately.
- You received the PS4 game through PlayStation Plus Monthly Games: Do not assume the free PS5 digital upgrade applies; the official PlayStation information identifies that version as ineligible.
- You want collectible digital extras: Choose Digital Deluxe for the artbook and mini-soundtrack; it does not add a different Yuffie campaign.
- You are buying a used physical copy: Treat the voucher status as a deciding factor, because the episode may depend on a code rather than only on the disc.
How to verify a listing before you pay
- Read the product title and confirm that it identifies the PS5 Intergrade edition or the complete equivalent for your platform.
- Look for an explicit statement that FF7R EPISODE INTERmission is included.
- Determine whether the offer is a full game package, a PS4 upgrade entitlement or a standalone episode.
- Check the edition name to see whether the digital artbook and mini-soundtrack are included.
- For boxed copies, confirm the voucher-code and internet-download requirements, plus the seller’s region and used-copy condition.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does a physical Intergrade box guarantee access to Yuffie’s episode?
Not necessarily. Square Enix describes INTERmission in physical packaging as downloadable content supplied by voucher code, so a used copy can require confirmation that the code remains redeemable. Check the seller’s description and account region before buying.

Do I need the Digital Deluxe Edition to play INTERmission?
No. The Standard Edition includes both the PS5 Remake campaign and the Yuffie episode. Digital Deluxe adds a digital artbook and mini-soundtrack rather than extra story access.
What does the Cacstar bonus do?
Cacstar is the bonus weapon listed for Intergrade, but its use is restricted to FF7R EPISODE INTERmission. It is not a weapon for Cloud’s main Remake campaign.
Is the PlayStation Plus PS4 version eligible for the free PS5 upgrade?
The official PlayStation information specifically identifies the PS4 version obtained through PlayStation Plus Monthly Games as ineligible for the free PS5 digital-version upgrade. You should therefore check your entitlement instead of assuming that any PS4 license qualifies.
Does Intergrade include the later games in the remake project?
No. Its included campaign is the first, Midgar-focused Remake game. The package does not contain the complete original game’s storyline or subsequent remake installments.
