FINAL FANTASY VII REVELATION releases April 8, 2027, Square Enix has confirmed. The third and final game in the FINAL FANTASY VII Remake Series is announced for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Its 2027 launch coincides with the franchise’s 40th-anniversary year, but Square Enix connects the game itself to the original FINAL FANTASY VII’s 30th anniversary.

Which platforms will have the game?
Square Enix lists PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, Epic Games Store, and Xbox on PC. Physical editions are announced for PS5, Nintendo Switch 2, and Xbox Series X|S; digital editions are also announced. What has Square Enix said about the game?
The release announcement describes an open planet to explore aboard the Highwind, with Piko the Chocobo and new traversal and combat abilities. It also names Cid and Vincent as playable characters and describes a hybrid combat system, a new FITS ability system, character and party switching, and a grappling gun. Some quests will let players choose a party, with those choices able to affect events. These are publisher descriptions; the announcement does not constitute independent hands-on impressions. The North American announcement says two story DLCs are planned for release between Winter 2027 and Spring 2028. It also says they may be sold separately after release. Square Enix notes that plans and dates are subject to change.

Is this a 40th-anniversary edition?
No. 2027 is the FINAL FANTASY franchise’s 40th-anniversary year: the official franchise portal dates the first FINAL FANTASY release to 1987 and lists an anniversary exhibition and a Distant Worlds orchestral concert. But Square Enix’s game announcement frames REVELATION as arriving in the original FINAL FANTASY VII’s 30th-anniversary year. The game is not described as a 40th-anniversary edition. The exhibition is scheduled at the Tokyo National Museum from January 8 through April 4, 2027, according to Square Enix’s event page. These anniversary events are distinct from REVELATION’s release.
