FINAL FANTASY XIV: Dawntrail launched on July 2, 2024, so its early-access window and preorder rewards are historical—not benefits to assume you will receive with a purchase today. If you already own the full game, choose between the expansion and its digital collector items; if you are new, check the Complete Edition instead. First confirm that the product matches your platform and service account.
Which version should you get?
Start with the game license on the account you plan to use. Square Enix describes Dawntrail as an expansion “intended for existing users who own the full version of FINAL FANTASY XIV” and says it “cannot be played on its own.” It also states, “A subscription fee is required to play.” Check your platform storefront and account before buying: a license for one platform or service account may not be the one you need for another.

- You already own the full game on the relevant account: choose Standard if you only need Dawntrail, or Digital Collector’s Edition if you want its in-game collector rewards.
- You are new to FFXIV: compare the Complete Edition rather than buying Dawntrail by itself. Its product page lists the base game and expansions through Dawntrail, plus one 30-day free play period subject to platform and account restrictions.
- You want physical merchandise: the Collector’s Box is a separate merchandise product, not a game license. Its official listing is marked sold out.
These are USD prices on Square Enix’s North American pages as of October 8, 2026; they are not universal regional prices. Check your local storefront for its current price, stock, and account terms.

What comes with each collector option?
Digital Collector’s Edition
The digital Collector’s Edition adds three in-game items: the Ark mount, Wind-up Garnet minion, and a Pictomancer job weapon. These are in-game rewards, not physical merchandise. The official preorder explainer describes the package contents.
Physical Collector’s Box
The box contains the Dawntrail Special Art Box, Expertly Crafted Viper Figure, Adventurer’s Cloth Map, The Unending Journey notebook, and Adventurer’s Pen Case. Square Enix’s product description explicitly says, “A copy of Dawntrail, in-game bonus items, and pre-order bonuses are not included.” The official product page marks the box sold out as of October 8, 2026.

- Remaster of the original CRISIS CORE - FINAL FANTASY VII-, featuring a complete HD graphics overhaul, a remastered soundtrack, a reimagined UI, and an updated combat system.
- The story begins seven years before the events of FINAL FANTASY VII (1997) and follows Zack Fair, a young and ambitious Shinra SOLDIER operative. Zack is tasked with tracking down a missing SOLDIER 1st Class operative named Genesis Rhapsodos.
- But as his adventure unfolds, he discovers the dark secrets of Shinra's experiments and the monsters they create. The game features a number of characters from the FINAL FANTASY VII franchise such as Cloud, Sephiroth, Aerith and others.
The North American product page also lists the Windows/Mac Collector’s Edition bundle as sold out. The 2024 preorder explainer said players on PS5/PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam seeking both physical and digital collector contents would pair the Collector’s Box with the Digital Collector’s Edition on their platform. That historical guidance does not mention Nintendo Switch 2, which appears on the current platform list; confirm current platform support and availability before relying on that combination.

The historical Dawntrail preorder rewards were the Wind-up Zidane minion and Azeyma’s Earrings. Square Enix described the earrings as providing 30% more EXP from defeating enemies while worn, only for levels 1 through 90, and only for Disciples of War or Magic. That is not a general EXP bonus for every activity, level, or class category. The product page described the preorder bonus as account-wide.

Dawntrail early access was scheduled to begin June 28, 2024 at 2:00 a.m. PDT, four days before the July 2, 2024 launch. Square Enix’s April 2024 preorder explainer also said players had to complete the Endwalker Main Scenario Quests to access Dawntrail content. Both dates and the early-access period have passed. A current purchase should not be assumed to include the old preorder rewards: verify seller-specific entitlement before relying on any bonus code.

These are historical redemption details, not a current preorder procedure. At launch, PlayStation and Xbox purchases did not require a separate preorder bonus code; retailer purchases and Steam used a code registered through Mog Station. Square Enix said rewards were delivered sequentially through the Moogle Delivery Service and advised waiting up to 48 hours after registration or completion before contacting support. Its preorder and early-access FAQ covers that delivery and entitlement troubleshooting.
