FINAL FANTASY XIV Patch 7.4 removes class, job, and level gates for glamour: players can glamour equipment without meeting its usual class, job, or level requirements, and the glamoured appearance remains visible across those restrictions. It is a major expansion of outfit options, but not a free-for-all with no boundaries: weapon and tool types must still match, and race, gender, and Grand Company restrictions remain.
What glamour restrictions did Patch 7.4 remove?
Square Enix’s Patch 7.4 notes, updated December 17, 2025, say equipment can be glamoured regardless of class or job requirements. The appearance also displays regardless of the character’s current class, job, or level. In practical terms, you are no longer limited to glamours whose original gear requirements match the job or level of the equipment you are using.

The change applies to player characters as well as retainers, squadron members, and Custom Delivery clients. That broader coverage means the eligibility change is not limited to a player’s own outfit.
What restrictions still apply?
Patch 7.4 removes specific eligibility gates; it does not make every appearance usable on every character or item. The patch notes retain these boundaries:

#1 Best Overall
- Adventure awaits you beyond the horizon in FINAL FANTASY XIV.
- This product is a digital 60-Day Game Time Card for FINAL FANTASY XIV Online. It serves as a payment option that allows players to add 60 days of game time to their FFXIV account at the Standard subscription rate, subject to account limits. Both the game and game time are required to play.
- This product can be redeemed on service accounts registered with the Windows, Mac, PlayStation, or Steam versions of FINAL FANTASY XIV Online. However, it cannot be redeemed on service accounts that have only the XBOX or Nintendo Switch 2 versions registered.
- Weapons and tools: The glamour must remain compatible with the same weapon or tool type. A glamour does not let one type of weapon or tool appear as another.
- Race and gender: Restrictions tied to race or gender remain in place.
- Grand Company: Grand Company restrictions also remain.
Square Enix’s Patch 7.4 feature page summarizes the change as removing class, job, and level restrictions when glamouring armor and accessories. The detailed notes are the better guide to the exceptions, especially for weapons and tools.
How outfit glamour storage changed
Patch 7.4 also makes outfit glamours less dependent on having a complete set ready at once. Previously, the documented workflow in the Patch 7.1 guidance required storing an entire set together. Under the new rules, you can create an outfit glamour from only some of its pieces, use glamour prisms according to the number of pieces added, and add missing pieces to that outfit glamour later. See the Patch 7.4 notes for the change.

- Access to all expansion content from Heavensward and Stormblood, unlocking additional jobs, areas, story quests and more ways to explore: flying, swimming and diving
- A flexible class system that allows players to switch freely between a variety of classes and jobs, including new additions red mage and samurai, and reach the new level cap of level 70
- All the hallmarks of the FINAL FANTASY franchise, including an engaging storyline, genre-leading graphics, and HD real time cut scenes.
- Robust gameplay features such as player-managed Free Companies, diverse party finder features to group up with other players with ease, and a variety of fun activities in the Gold Saucer area, all designed to accommodate a dynamic player community.
- Challenging trials, dungeons and raids for groups of up to 24, and exciting player-vs-player (PvP) content for groups of up to 72 players
This is a change to storing and assembling outfit glamours, separate from the expanded class, job, and level eligibility. It gives you a way to start organizing an outfit before every desired piece is available.
Where the Glamour Dresser and plates fit
The existing workflow remains useful: use a glamour prism to turn gear into a glamour, store it in a Glamour Dresser, then combine stored looks into glamour plates. Applying a plate places its included appearances on your current equipment. Square Enix’s Glamours Made Easy! guide explains that dresser-and-plate flow. Patch 7.4 broadens which equipment can be glamoured; it does not replace the dresser and plate system.
