Square Enix released the game digitally for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox PC on June 9, 2025. The Xbox Store’s cloud-play wording for Game Pass subscribers is also not proof that the game is included in the subscription catalog.
How many copies of FINAL FANTASY XVI sold on Xbox?
Square Enix has not published an Xbox-specific unit total or sell-through figure in the official materials covered here. Its briefing for the nine months ended December 31, 2025 reports net sales of ¥50.1 billion and operating profit of ¥12.8 billion for the entire HD Games segment. Those totals cover multiple games and platforms; they do not identify FINAL FANTASY XVI’s Xbox performance.

Square Enix’s briefing for the three months ended June 30, 2025 likewise reports HD Games segment figures—net sales of ¥8.9 billion and operating profit of ¥1.0 billion—not sales for this game. Segment results cannot establish whether the Xbox version sold well or poorly.
The often-cited launch milestone is for a different platform and period: Square Enix said more than 3 million physical and digital copies had been distributed worldwide following the game’s June 2023 PS5 launch. That figure is not an Xbox sales count, and it should not be treated as a direct comparison with Xbox performance.

To substantiate a claim that Xbox sales are struggling would require a reliable Xbox-specific figure and a comparable baseline—for example, matching time windows, geography, and whether the numbers measure shipments or purchases by players. No such comparison is provided by these official reports.
Is FINAL FANTASY XVI on Xbox Game Pass?
Square Enix announced the Xbox release as a digital purchase. The Xbox Store listing for the Complete Edition offers the game for purchase and separately mentions cloud play with certain Game Pass subscription tiers. Cloud-play eligibility does not establish that a game is included in the Game Pass catalog.
