If Steam wishlist notifications are not working, start by checking three things: the game is still on the correct account’s Wishlist, Steam Mobile’s Wishlist category is enabled, and your email provider is not filtering Steam messages. Steam explicitly supports Wishlist notifications for games that go on sale. Release notifications are less clearly documented, so a missing release alert is not proof that your account is broken.
Work through the checks below in order. They separate a missing Wishlist entry, a mobile-push permission problem, an email-delivery problem, and behavior Steam has not fully specified.

What should Steam Wishlist notifications do?
Steam’s official sales FAQ says the Wishlist can notify you when a wanted game goes on sale. That is the firmest documented behavior and the best baseline for diagnosing a missing price alert.
Steam Mobile also lists Wishlist as a notification category. Valve’s official description says: “Customize your Steam notifications: wishlist, comments, trades, discussions, friend requests, and more.” This confirms that Wishlist alerts can be controlled in the mobile app.

Release alerts need more caution. The official material identifies Wishlist notifications as a mobile category, but it does not define a universal trigger for every game’s release, whether every title qualifies, or whether timing changes by region, platform, or title state. Treat a missing release alert as a behavior to verify rather than a guaranteed delivery failure.
What is the fastest way to diagnose a missing alert?
Use the channel that failed to narrow the cause before changing several settings at once.
| Channel | First check | Other control | Main delivery risk | What Steam documents |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Steam Mobile push | Wishlist category in Steam Mobile | Phone operating-system notification permission | App or device notifications blocked | Wishlist is a customizable mobile category |
| Registered Steam address and spam folders | Trusted-sender and provider filtering | Filtering or provider-side delay | Steam email-delivery checks and possible delays |
If one channel receives an alert and the other does not, the Wishlist itself is probably not the first thing to change. Concentrate on the controls and delivery path for the channel that failed.
How do I confirm that the game is still on my Wishlist?
Open Steam’s Wishlist in the client or in a browser while signed in to the account you actually use. The title must still appear there; removing a game, changing accounts, or viewing a different account can make an expected alert appear to be missing.
- Sign in to the intended Steam account. Check the account identity before troubleshooting notifications. A family member’s, secondary, or newly created account has a different Wishlist.
- Open Wishlist in the Steam client or browser. Steam documents that Wishlist entries can be viewed and edited in both places.
- Search for the exact game. Confirm the title is present, not merely that you remember adding it in the past.
- Check the title’s current store page. A game can change its store status, release information, or regional availability after you add it.
- Do not remove and re-add the title as a first remedy. Rebuilding the list does not repair a blocked phone permission or an email filter, and it can make account mix-ups harder to spot.
If the game is absent, add it to the Wishlist again from the correct account, then wait for a documented sale event before judging the sale-alert path. If it is present, continue with the channel-specific checks.
How do I restore Steam Mobile Wishlist notifications?
Steam Mobile exposes Wishlist as a customizable notification category. Enable that category in the app, then verify that the phone itself allows Steam to send notifications.

- SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
- Open Steam Mobile’s notification settings. Look for the notification-category controls in the app and make sure Wishlist is enabled. The exact screen wording can vary with the app version.
- Check the phone’s operating-system permission. In the phone’s app-notification settings, select Steam and allow notifications. An enabled category inside Steam cannot appear as a banner, sound, or lock-screen alert if the operating system blocks the app.
- Review interruption modes. Do Not Disturb, Focus, battery-saver, background-activity limits, or work-profile policies can suppress or delay push notifications even when permission is granted.
- Open Steam Mobile while connected. Confirm that you are signed in to the same Steam account whose Wishlist you checked. A stale session can make you inspect the wrong account.
- Recheck after saving. Return to the app’s notification settings and confirm Wishlist remains enabled. If the setting will not stay enabled, update the app through your device’s normal app store and sign in again.
These checks establish that the app and device are ready to receive a Wishlist push. They do not create a release alert for a title that Steam does not classify as eligible, and they cannot guarantee delivery timing.
Why am I not getting Steam Wishlist emails?
Email alerts use a separate delivery path from mobile push. Verify the address on the Steam account, inspect filtering, trust Steam’s sending addresses where your provider allows it, and allow for provider-side delay.
- Verify the registered email address. Steam’s official Steam Guard email guidance recommends confirming that the account is using the address you currently monitor. Check for an old address, a typo, or an inbox you no longer access.
- Search every relevant folder. Look in spam, junk, promotions, quarantine, archive, and any provider-specific filtered views. Search for “Steam” as well as the game name.
- Trust Steam’s documented sender addresses. Where appropriate, add
[email protected]and[email protected]to your provider’s trusted-sender or contacts list. This reduces the chance that a legitimate message is classified as unsolicited mail. - Check rules and forwarding. A personal filter can delete, archive, label, or forward Steam messages before they reach the inbox. Review rules on the provider’s website, not only in a phone mail app.
- Allow for delivery delay. Steam notes that some email providers can delay messages. A late message is different from a missing Wishlist event, so compare the message’s arrival time with the sale window before changing account settings.
- Check mailbox capacity and security blocks. A full mailbox, a recently changed password, or a provider security hold can interrupt delivery independently of Steam’s Wishlist state.
The sender-address and spam-folder instructions are documented by Steam for Steam Guard email. They are useful general Steam-email diagnostics, but Steam does not present them as a Wishlist-specific repair or as a guarantee that every alert will arrive.
How can I tell whether mobile push or email is the problem?
Run a channel comparison instead of repeatedly editing the Wishlist. The result tells you where the next check belongs.
- Mobile works, email fails: Keep the Wishlist unchanged and focus on the registered address, spam filtering, trusted senders, and provider delay.
- Email works, mobile fails: Focus on Steam Mobile’s Wishlist category, the phone’s operating-system permission, Focus or Do Not Disturb, and background restrictions.
- Both channels fail: Reconfirm the account and Wishlist entry first. Then check whether the event was a sale notification that Steam documents, or an expected release alert whose trigger is not fully specified.
- Neither channel has ever alerted for this title: Check the game’s current store page and account, then consider title or platform behavior before assuming a delivery outage.
Do not infer that a missing email proves mobile notifications are disabled, or that a missing push proves the Wishlist was removed. They are separate delivery paths.
Why did Steam not notify me when my game went on sale?
For a sale alert, confirm the title is still wishlisted and then inspect the channel that should have delivered it. Steam officially describes the Wishlist as a way to receive a notification when a wanted game goes on sale, but the delivery can still be affected by account state, app settings, or email filtering.

The game is no longer listed
Add it again from the intended account and verify that it appears in Wishlist afterward. If the title disappeared because it was removed manually or the account changed, there is no active Wishlist entry from which to generate a sale notification.
The game is listed but mobile is silent
Enable Wishlist in Steam Mobile, permit Steam notifications in the phone’s operating system, and check Focus, Do Not Disturb, battery, and background limits. These device-level controls can suppress a valid push after Steam has made the category available.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsThe game is listed but email is silent
Verify the registered address, search filtered folders, trust [email protected] and [email protected] where suitable, and allow for provider-side delay. Do not assume that a delayed or filtered message means Steam removed the game from your Wishlist.
The sale ended before you saw anything
Record when the sale started and when the message arrived, if it eventually appears. Steam’s documentation does not promise a specific delivery time, and an email provider may delay a message long enough for a short promotion to change.
Are Steam release notifications guaranteed for every wishlisted game?
No universal guarantee is established by the official pages available here. Steam documents sale notifications and lists Wishlist as a mobile notification category, but it does not clearly publish the exact release-alert trigger, eligibility rules, regional behavior, platform differences, or delivery timing for every title.
That means a missing release alert should be handled differently from a missing sale alert:

- Confirm the game remains on the correct account’s Wishlist.
- Check Steam Mobile’s Wishlist category and the phone’s notification permission.
- Check the registered email and filtering if you expected an email.
- Open the title’s current Steam page to verify its release state and region.
- Avoid promising that re-adding the game, reinstalling Steam, or changing hardware will force a release message.
If all settings are correct, the remaining explanation may be title-specific or platform-side behavior that Steam’s public documentation does not define. Contact Steam Support with the account, title, expected event, and channels checked rather than using an unrelated cleanup utility.
What should I check on the game’s Steam page?
The store page can reveal that the event you expected is not the event Steam is currently advertising.
- Release state: distinguish an announced date, an early-access status, a delayed launch, and a game already released in another region.
- Edition: confirm that the wishlisted item is the same edition or package whose sale or release you are watching.
- Region: prices, release timing, and availability can differ by country. Do not assume another region’s store event should produce the same alert.
- Account: open the page while signed in to the account whose Wishlist you verified.
- Current listing: a delisted, renamed, or replaced store item may not behave like the original entry.
These checks do not prove why an alert was absent, but they prevent treating a change in the title’s store status as a notification-system failure.
What should I do if the alerts still do not work?
After confirming the account, Wishlist entry, mobile settings, phone permission, email address, filters, and provider delay, use Steam Support for an account-specific answer.

- Registry cleaners and “notification repair” utilities: the documented controls are the Wishlist, Steam Mobile category, phone permission, account email, and mail-provider filtering. An unrelated cleaner cannot establish a missing Wishlist entry or release eligibility.
- Changing hardware: a different keyboard, monitor, router, or headset does not repair an account-level Wishlist state or an email rule.
- Repeatedly removing and re-adding games: this can obscure an account mix-up and does not unblock phone notifications or mail delivery.
- Assuming release behavior from sale behavior: sale alerts are explicitly documented; release-alert rules are not fully specified in the same way.
- Disabling all security controls: do not weaken account or email security merely to chase an alert. Review targeted filters and permissions instead.

How we distinguish a documented fix from an assumption
The troubleshooting order follows the controls Steam publicly identifies: Wishlist entries can be viewed and edited in the client and browser; sale notifications are a stated Wishlist feature; Steam Mobile exposes Wishlist as a notification category; and Steam’s email guidance covers address verification, spam filtering, trusted senders, and provider delays. Release-alert eligibility and timing are left qualified because Steam’s public material does not define them completely.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I get Steam Wishlist alerts without the mobile app?
Email is a separate delivery path, so you can troubleshoot and receive Steam messages through the account’s registered email even when mobile push is unavailable. The mobile app is the place where Steam explicitly exposes the Wishlist notification category, so email and push should be checked independently.
Will Steam notify me about a game’s exact release time?
Steam’s public documentation does not establish a universal exact-time release notification for every wishlisted title. Release timing can depend on the title’s store state, region, and platform behavior, so check the game’s current store page for the authoritative date.
Why do Steam emails arrive hours late?
Steam notes that some email providers can delay messages after Steam sends them. Provider queues, spam scanning, filtering rules, and mailbox policies can all affect arrival time; compare the message timestamp with the event before changing your Wishlist.
Does adding a game to my Wishlist subscribe me to every notification type?
Adding a title creates a Wishlist entry, but the documented notification controls still apply to the channel you use. Sale notifications are explicitly described, while the trigger and coverage for release alerts are not fully defined publicly.
