Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 2 was officially titled LAWLESS. Epic launched it on February 21, 2025, around a crime-and-heist loop: players raided vaults, ambushed armored transports, stopped a loot train and fought the crime boss Fletcher Kane. The season also added Big Dill, a rapping pickle whose Dill Bits currency supported Black Market purchases, plus a Cowboy Bebop crossover featuring Spike Spiegel, Faye Valentine and limited quests. LAWLESS ended on May 2, 2025, Eastern Time, so this is historical season coverage; shop availability for its crossover cosmetics can change if Epic brings them back.
What is Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 2 LAWLESS?
LAWLESS was Fortnite’s Chapter 6 Season 2, released February 21, 2025. Its defining change was a set of criminal activities that made vault access, moving loot and Black Market spending part of an ordinary match rather than background story dressing.

Crime City served as the criminal hub, with Hostile Hotel, Wise Guys Bookstore and Launder Mat inside it. Outlaw Oasis was a luxury resort used as a hideout, while Shiny Shafts housed Fletcher Kane’s mining operation and Lonewolf Lair was his fortified mansion. These places concentrated the season’s heist objectives, high-value loot and boss encounters.
LAWLESS also added a cosmetic crossover with the 1998 anime Cowboy Bebop, whose story follows space bounty hunters led by Spike Spiegel. Big Dill supplied the season’s deliberately absurd hook: he is a green rap artist, not an emote or a piece of scenery, and performs with The Brat as the Tasty Bois.

How do the LAWLESS heists and vaults work?
Vaults require Thermite. Epic stated that it was the only way to crack a vault, so carrying Thermite was essential whenever your squad planned to pursue a locked-room payout.
Opening a vault
- Find a vault objective in a heist location or on the armored train.
- Place Thermite to begin the breach. Other weapons do not replace this requirement.
- Damage the exposed weak points while the breach progresses. Hitting them speeds up the opening.
- Defend the area from other players, collect the contents and leave before a third party arrives.
The procedure creates a deliberate risk-versus-time decision. A team can rush the breach and accept a noisy fight, or secure sight lines first and give opponents less opportunity to interrupt the opening.

What happens on the armored train?
The armored train is a moving, high-risk vault. Players must board it, destroy its turrets, stop its movement and then use Thermite on the vault car. Every stage announces your presence and leaves the squad exposed to players who rotate toward the train, so the reward is balanced by unusually clear counterplay.
How do Armored Transports fit into a match?
Armored Transport convoys carry valuables around the island. They can be hijacked, turning a moving target into a mobile source of loot and another reason to fight away from named points of interest. A convoy ambush is less structured than the train robbery, but it serves the same purpose: interrupt a valuable delivery before another team can claim it.
What are Gold Bars, Dill Bits and Black Markets?
LAWLESS uses two currencies with different roles. Gold Bars are the established Fortnite currency used during the season, while Big Dill’s Dill Bits are a match-focused resource tied to Black Markets.

| Currency or system | How players obtain or use it | What to remember |
|---|---|---|
| Gold Bars | Collected during matches and spent at Black Markets | Supports purchases of Mythic and Legendary items and Boons |
| Dill Bits | Collected in the season’s heist economy and spent at Black Markets | Match currency associated with Big Dill; it is not a Battle Pass or account-wide balance |
| Black Markets | Spend Gold Bars or Dill Bits here | Offers include Mythic and Legendary items and Boons |
| Gold Rush | Triggered by gold-infused water or mined Gold Veins | Raises movement speed, pickaxe swing speed and pickaxe structure damage |
Gold Rush is more than a loot label. The speed increase can change how quickly you rotate between objectives, while faster pickaxe swings and greater structure damage make harvesting or breaking through cover more efficient. Because the effect comes from environmental sources, squads have to decide whether detouring for it is worth losing time on the main heist.

Who is Fletcher Kane, and what do you get for defeating him?
Fletcher Kane is LAWLESS’s crime boss and the central boss fight of the season. He is tied to Shiny Shafts and Lonewolf Lair, giving players two thematic locations to investigate when hunting his rewards.
Defeating Kane awards the Mythic Fletcher Kane’s Double Down Pistol and the Unstoppable Medallion. The Medallion increases sprint speed and enables sprint bashes, but it also makes its carrier visible on opponents’ mini-maps. That visibility is a meaningful drawback: the item improves mobility while advertising the location of the player carrying it.
Which weapons and tools were added in LAWLESS?
Epic’s season lineup mixed firearms, mobility equipment, scanning tools and healing items. The names below are the season’s documented additions; exact statistics and availability could vary with balance updates during the season.
| Item | Category | Role indicated by the season lineup |
|---|---|---|
| Plasma Burst Laser | Weapon | Energy weapon |
| Rocket Drill | Tool or weapon | Drill-based breaching or combat item |
| Collateral Damage Assault Rifle | Assault rifle | Primary rifle |
| Falcon Eye Sniper | Sniper rifle | Long-range weapon |
| Outlaw Shotgun | Shotgun | Close-range weapon |
| Pump & Dump | Dual-wield weapon | Two-gun close-range option |
| The Kneecapper | Weapon | Named season weapon; detailed function was not stated |
| Port-A-Cover | Utility | Deployable cover |
| Pulse Scanner | Utility | Scanning equipment |
| Med-Mist Grenade | Healing utility | Area healing item |
| Gold Splash | Consumable | Restores 20 Health, or 20 Shield when Health is full |
Gold Splash has a specific threshold interaction: it restores 20 Health when you are missing Health, but gives 20 Shield instead when you are already at full Health. That makes it useful in two different recovery states without requiring a separate choice of consumable.

What are the five LAWLESS Boons?
Five Boons appeared through Black Markets or Rare Chests: Vulture, Gold Rush, Adrenaline Rush, Gold Ammo and Greed. Boons were match-impacting upgrades rather than cosmetic collectibles, and they survived an elimination if the player was rebooted in the same match.
| Boon | Documented availability or behavior |
|---|---|
| Vulture | Available from Black Markets or Rare Chests; specific effect not stated |
| Gold Rush | Available from Black Markets or Rare Chests; also associated with gold-infused water and Gold Veins, and improves movement and pickaxe performance |
| Adrenaline Rush | Available from Black Markets or Rare Chests; specific effect not stated |
| Gold Ammo | Available from Black Markets or Rare Chests; specific effect not stated |
| Greed | Available from Black Markets or Rare Chests; specific effect not stated |
The reboot rule changes how aggressively a squad can contest a Boon. Losing a carrier does not automatically erase the upgrade if that player returns during the same match, so a team can regroup instead of abandoning its whole build after one elimination.
Who is Big Dill, the pickle in Fortnite?
Big Dill is a green rapping pickle introduced as “the newest rap artist on the scene in Fortnite.” He and The Brat make up the Tasty Bois, giving the season a music-and-food joke alongside its serious heist fiction.
His single, “Runamok,” was released as a Jam Track in the Battle Pass. Big Dill also created the Dill Bits economy: players could collect the currency during a match and use it at Black Markets for seasonal purchases. Dill Bits were deliberately temporary rather than a permanent account wallet, so their value was tied to making a decision before the match ended.

Meeting the quests’ bonus goals unlocked the Cowboy Bebop Wrap and the Bebop Legends Loading Screen. The quest track was time-limited, so players needed to complete its objectives during the available window rather than treating it like an always-on archive.
This crossover was primarily cosmetic and progression content. Spike and Faye were outfits, not separate gameplay classes, and the wrap and loading screen changed presentation rather than weapon damage, movement or vault access.
How much did the LAWLESS Battle Pass cost, and what was in it?
Epic listed the digital LAWLESS Battle Pass at 1,000 V-Bucks. It was season-bound: progression ended when LAWLESS ended on May 2, 2025, Eastern Time.
| Battle Pass detail | Documented information |
|---|---|
| Price | 1,000 V-Bucks |
| Format | Digital, time-limited seasonal pass |
| Named outfits | Cassidy Quinn, Joss, Fletcher Kane, Valentina, Big Dill, Keisha Cross and Sub-Zero |
| Music reward | Big Dill’s “Runamok” Jam Track |
| Progression deadline | May 2, 2025, Eastern Time |
The pass mixed character outfits with music and season-themed rewards. The presence of Big Dill in the pass connected the pickle character to the broader heist narrative instead of leaving him as a shop-only novelty.

A practical route was to treat each match as a sequence of decisions rather than sprinting toward the nearest vault.

- Choose an objective. Decide whether your squad wants a named-location vault, a moving convoy or the armored train. Each creates a different timing and exposure problem.
- Secure Thermite. Do not commit to a vault plan without it; Epic identified Thermite as the sole vault-breaching method.
- Build an exit route. Before starting the breach, mark cover and rotation options. The sound and delay of a vault opening attract opponents.
- Break weak points during the breach. The faster opening reduces the period in which another squad can arrive.
- Spend deliberately. Use Gold Bars or Dill Bits at a Black Market for the item or Boon that fits your current loadout instead of treating every currency pickup as an automatic purchase.
- Reassess after a boss fight. Fletcher Kane’s reward improves mobility but exposes the carrier on enemy mini-maps, so the squad should rotate with that risk in mind.
This loop highlights why LAWLESS felt different from a purely cosmetic season: the map, currencies, boss reward and Boons all changed how a team selected routes and judged danger.
Which LAWLESS content changed gameplay, and which was cosmetic?
| Content | Gameplay impact | Access route | Time window |
|---|---|---|---|
| Vaults, trains and Armored Transports | Directly affect loot, positioning and fights | Found during matches; Thermite required for vaults | Season-long systems during LAWLESS |
| Gold Bars, Dill Bits and Black Markets | Enable purchases and influence routing | Collected in matches and spent at Black Markets | Match-based seasonal economy |
| Fletcher Kane’s pistol and Medallion | Mythic weapon and mobility benefit with map-visibility trade-off | Defeat Fletcher Kane | Season gameplay content |
| Boons | Provide match upgrades and can survive a reboot in the same match | Black Markets or Rare Chests | Season gameplay content |
| Battle Pass outfits and “Runamok” | Cosmetic or music presentation | Battle Pass progression | Progression ended May 2, 2025 ET |
| Spike and Faye outfits | Cosmetic character appearance | Fortnite Shop | Shop returns are controlled by Epic and may change |
| Cowboy Bebop Wrap and Bebop Legends Loading Screen | Cosmetic customization | Limited Cowboy Bebop quest goals | Quest completion window was limited |
Can you still get LAWLESS or Cowboy Bebop items?
The LAWLESS Battle Pass progression period ended May 2, 2025, Eastern Time. Shop outfits are a separate system, and their return is not guaranteed by the original season schedule; availability can change whenever Epic rotates the Fortnite Shop. The documented season facts therefore establish how the content worked, not a permanent promise that every cosmetic remains purchasable.

Why LAWLESS mattered to Fortnite players
LAWLESS combined a coherent match loop with unusually recognizable crossover dressing. Competitive players had reasons to contest vaults, convoys, Boons and the train because those systems changed power and positioning. Players drawn by Cowboy Bebop had a shorter quest track, two anime-inspired outfits and themed cosmetic rewards. Big Dill bridged the two audiences: he was both a Battle Pass character with a Jam Track and the source of a currency used in the season’s central Black Markets.
Frequently Asked Questions
Were Dill Bits carried from one match to the next?
No. Dill Bits functioned as a non-persistent match currency, so they had to be spent at Black Markets during the match in which they were collected. They were not a permanent balance like an account-level wallet.
Could a rebooted player keep a LAWLESS Boon?
Yes, if the player was rebooted in the same match, the Boon persisted after elimination. That made recovering a teammate worthwhile even when the squad had lost the original carrier.
Were Spike Spiegel and Faye Valentine playable heroes with unique abilities?
They were Fortnite outfits tied to the Cowboy Bebop collaboration, not separate ability-based classes. Equipping either changed the character’s appearance while normal Fortnite gameplay systems remained in place.
What happened if I missed the Cowboy Bebop quest window?
The quest rewards depended on meeting the bonus goals during the limited completion period. Missing that window meant the Wrap and Bebop Legends Loading Screen were not earned through those quests, although Shop cosmetics followed their own rotation rules.
