To play Fortnite on GeForce NOW, sign in on a supported desktop client, browser, Android app, or iPhone/iPad Safari session, then search for Fortnite and launch it. Link your Epic Games account in GeForce NOW settings if you want automatic sign-in later. The right controls depend on the device: touch works on supported mobile play, Xbox Wireless, DualSense, and DualShock 4 controllers are listed by Epic for cloud play, while keyboard and mouse are intended for supported desktop clients—not ordinary phone gameplay. Configure bindings and sensitivity inside Fortnite, and choose a GeForce NOW stream mode your display, membership, hardware, and connection can actually support.
There is no official, universally best Fortnite DPI, sensitivity, deadzone, or keybind layout. The reliable approach is to start with a familiar layout, verify every important action, and change one control at a time.

You need a GeForce NOW membership available in your region, a supported client or browser, an Epic Games account for Fortnite, and an input method appropriate to your device. GeForce NOW membership tiers and availability vary by country, so select the option shown for your location rather than assuming a particular plan or price.
- Windows, macOS, ChromeOS, or another supported computer: use the GeForce NOW desktop application or a supported browser.
- Android phone or tablet: use the GeForce NOW Android app.
- iPhone or iPad: use Safari. NVIDIA documents an optional Share → Add to Home Screen shortcut; do not assume an iOS App Store GeForce NOW app is available.
- TV: use a supported GeForce NOW television app or device and a compatible gamepad.
Epic and NVIDIA list Xbox Wireless, DualSense, and DualShock 4 controllers for GeForce NOW use. Mobile Fortnite also supports touch, so a phone controller is optional. NVIDIA names Backbone One and Razer Kishi V2 as mobile-controller examples, but the connector, phone dimensions, case, and host-device support must be checked separately.

For the service’s US baseline, NVIDIA lists at least 15 Mbps for HD at 60 FPS and 25 Mbps for FHD at 60 FPS, with latency below 80 ms to a GeForce NOW data center. Those are service requirements, not a promise of a particular Fortnite frame rate or input delay. The complete device and network matrix is in NVIDIA’s GeForce NOW system requirements.
How do you launch Fortnite and link your Epic account?
Launching is the same basic process on each supported route, but iPhone and iPad use Safari rather than a native iOS app.
- Open GeForce NOW on the supported desktop app, browser, Android app, or iOS Safari.
- Sign in to your GeForce NOW account and choose a membership offered in your region.
- Search the GeForce NOW library for Fortnite, then select Play or Launch.
- When prompted, sign in with the Epic Games account that owns or uses Fortnite.
- For automatic sign-in on future launches, open GeForce NOW settings and use the Epic-account linking option described by NVIDIA.
- On iPhone or iPad, keep the Safari page available, or use Safari’s Share button followed by Add to Home Screen to create a shortcut.
NVIDIA’s Fortnite mobile instructions, including the account-linking and Safari route, are at https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce-now/fortnite-mobile/. A failed launch can be an account, region, membership, or service-availability issue rather than a Fortnite control problem.
Which input method works on desktop, mobile, and TV?
Choose the input before buying accessories. Device support matters more than a claim that one controller, mouse, or sensitivity is universally superior.
| Device | Supported gameplay input | Important limitation |
|---|---|---|
| Desktop or laptop | Compatible controller, or keyboard and mouse through a supported GeForce NOW client | Mouse and keyboard behavior depends on the host device and client; use Fortnite’s own control settings. |
| iPhone or iPad in Safari | Touch or a compatible controller | Epic says mouse and keyboard cannot be used for mobile Fortnite gameplay through cloud services; Safari keyboard and mouse input is for navigation. |
| Android phone or tablet | Touch or a compatible controller | Ordinary mobile play is not the same as NVIDIA’s separate Android Desktop Mode arrangement. |
| TV | Supported gamepad | NVIDIA specifies a gamepad for gameplay; keyboard and mouse are for app navigation rather than playing Fortnite. |
Epic’s cloud-controller guidance is available at Epic Games Player Support. On a phone, start with touch if you want to play immediately. Buy or connect a controller only if physical sticks and triggers are more comfortable for you or your phone setup supports one reliably.
How do you configure a Fortnite controller?
Controller configuration happens inside Fortnite, not in GeForce NOW’s stream-quality panel. Open Fortnite’s menu, choose Settings, and select the gamepad tab.

Pick a starting layout
Epic lists the Old School, Quick Builder, Combat Pro, Builder Pro, and Custom controller schemes. Builder Pro is an available build-oriented preset, not a measured guarantee of better performance. Start with the layout you already recognize, or try Builder Pro if you want building actions assigned for controller access, then verify the result in a safe practice situation.
- Open Menu → Settings → gamepad tab.
- Choose a preset or select Custom.
- Check movement, jump, crouch, interact, weapon swap, build, edit, and confirm actions.
- Make one change at a time so you can identify which adjustment helped or hurt.
- Play a short low-stakes session before changing another group of controls.
Epic’s controller-mapping support explains the available presets at https://www.epicgames.com/help/c-34254770/c-38015632/a11951123.
Set aim assist without assuming a magic sensitivity
To reach the documented aim-assist control, open Controller Options → Sensitivity → Use Advanced Options → Aim Assist, set the strength you want, and choose Apply. Epic’s troubleshooting guidance says to check that strength is 100% or lower it to a value you prefer. Epic also states: “Aim Assist is disabled whenever gyro is active.”
If Use Advanced Options is missing, switch Fortnite to Battle Royale mode and revisit the controller settings. Fortnite options can depend on the selected mode and platform, so the exact menu is not guaranteed to look identical everywhere. Epic’s aim-assist article is at https://www.epicgames.com/help/c-34254770/c-37371353/a20496062?lang=en-US.
Choose sensitivity and deadzone methodically
- Keep the same sensitivity long enough to identify whether the problem is turning speed, fine aiming, or stick drift.
- If the reticle moves while the stick is untouched, increase the affected stick’s deadzone gradually; if small movements fail to register, the deadzone may be too high.
- Change horizontal and vertical sensitivity separately only when you know which axis is uncomfortable.
- Test building, editing, close-range tracking, and long-range correction rather than judging a setting from one activity.
No inspected Epic or NVIDIA guide establishes a best numerical sensitivity or deadzone for every player, controller, screen, or stream condition. Your connection and display can change how a setting feels, so preserve a known-good profile before experimenting.
How do you change Fortnite mouse and keyboard settings on a computer?
On a supported desktop client, open Fortnite’s keyboard-controls tab to inspect and customize binds. Keep movement, building, editing, weapons, and interaction controls within comfortable reach, but treat that as ergonomic advice rather than an officially tested competitive layout.

- Replace only the keys that conflict with your hand position or other software.
- Use a practice or low-pressure match to confirm that each build and edit action works before changing more keys.
NVIDIA recommends a USB gaming mouse for desktop play. If mouse input stutters, NVIDIA’s published troubleshooting suggestion is to try a 125 Hz polling rate. That is a troubleshooting option, not a claim that 125 Hz is the best setting for every mouse or computer.
Do not infer a winning DPI or Fortnite sensitivity from a generic guide. DPI, in-game sensitivity, field of view, display size, and cloud-stream latency interact; the official material does not publish a universally best combination. Keep a written record of a setting before changing it so you can return to a known baseline.

On iPhone and iPad Safari, a keyboard and mouse can help navigate the page or menus, but Epic says they cannot be used for ordinary mobile Fortnite gameplay through cloud services. Do not buy desktop peripherals for that use case.
What is Android Desktop Mode, and is it ordinary phone play?
NVIDIA documents a separate Android Desktop Mode setup that uses an external display, a USB-C dock, and wired peripherals. Treat it as a specialized arrangement, not as a way to turn every handheld phone session into desktop Fortnite.
- Connect the Android device to a compatible external display through a suitable USB-C dock.
- Attach the wired keyboard and mouse described by NVIDIA’s setup guidance.
- Use the external-display desktop interface rather than assuming the phone screen has desktop input support.
- If mouse acceleration feels wrong, use the adjustment described in NVIDIA’s Desktop Mode guide.
NVIDIA says 120 FPS streaming is unavailable in Android Desktop Mode. Epic’s broader mobile restriction still applies to ordinary mobile cloud gameplay, so keep the external-display exception distinct from touch play on a phone.
How do you play Fortnite with touch controls?
Supported Fortnite mobile sessions can use touch without a controller. Touch is the simplest option when portability matters or when your phone does not accept a compatible gamepad.

- Open Fortnite through GeForce NOW in the Android app or iOS Safari route.
- Start a supported Fortnite session and confirm that the on-screen controls appear.
- Use Fortnite’s in-game settings to adjust the available touch controls and sensitivity for the selected mode.
- Practice movement, camera control, building, and item selection before entering a competitive match.
A controller can reduce the learning curve for players accustomed to physical sticks, but touch remains a supported mobile input. Check connector and phone fit before choosing a mobile controller; neither a controller nor a keyboard and mouse is mandatory for mobile play.
How should you choose GeForce NOW stream settings?
Set the stream mode after checking your display, device, membership, and connection. A higher stream resolution or frame rate consumes more bandwidth and may require supported hardware or a higher membership tier.
| Stream target listed by NVIDIA (US requirements page) | Published minimum bandwidth | Additional condition |
|---|---|---|
| HD, 60 FPS | 15 Mbps | Service baseline; actual experience depends on latency, stability, and device support. |
| FHD, 60 FPS | 25 Mbps | Requires a display and client that support the mode. |
| Browser QHD, 120 FPS | 35 Mbps | Requires Ultimate membership and compatible hardware; browser-specific modes differ from native desktop options. |
Use Ethernet when it is already practical. Otherwise use a stable 5 GHz Wi-Fi connection, stay near the access point, and avoid saturating the network with large downloads or video streams during play. NVIDIA requires latency under 80 ms to a data center for its stated service baseline.
Cloud stream frame rate is not the same as Fortnite’s internal render frame rate. Meeting a bandwidth threshold does not guarantee a fixed ping, a fixed frame rate, or a competitive advantage. Choose the highest mode your entire setup supports consistently, not the highest number shown in a menu.
Which setup is right for desktop, mobile, or TV?
Desktop
Desktop is the most flexible choice: use a controller if you prefer analog movement and aim, or keyboard and mouse when those controls are familiar. It is also the appropriate environment for Fortnite’s keyboard-controls tab and NVIDIA’s USB mouse troubleshooting guidance.
Mobile
Mobile prioritizes portability. Touch works without extra hardware; an Xbox Wireless, DualSense, DualShock 4, or a compatible mobile controller can provide physical controls. iPhone and iPad use Safari, while Android uses the GeForce NOW app. Do not treat a phone’s browser keyboard navigation as gameplay support.

TV
A TV setup calls for a supported gamepad. NVIDIA identifies keyboard and mouse as navigation tools for the app rather than Fortnite gameplay on TV, so choose a controller that your particular television or streaming device recognizes.
Native client versus browser
Native and browser clients do not expose identical stream modes. NVIDIA’s requirements page specifically distinguishes browser QHD 120 FPS from native desktop options, so select the client that matches your hardware and desired mode instead of assuming browser and app behavior are interchangeable.
What should you troubleshoot when Fortnite feels wrong?
Identify whether the problem is account access, input, stream quality, or Fortnite’s own settings before changing everything at once.
- Fortnite will not launch: confirm the GeForce NOW membership and regional availability, then sign in with the intended Epic account. Link that account in GeForce NOW settings if repeated sign-in prompts are the issue.
- No controller input: reconnect the controller, confirm the host device recognizes it, and reopen Fortnite’s gamepad tab. On TV, verify that the gamepad is supported by the GeForce NOW device.
- Mouse stutters: use NVIDIA’s suggestion to try 125 Hz polling, then check the USB connection and close applications competing for input.
- Keyboard and mouse work in menus but not in a phone game: this is expected for ordinary mobile cloud play; Epic does not support those peripherals for mobile Fortnite gameplay.
- Aim assist option is missing: select Battle Royale mode and revisit Controller Options. Remember that active gyro disables aim assist.
- Video is blurry or unstable: lower the stream mode to one your display, membership, hardware, bandwidth, and Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection can sustain. Check latency to the data center, not only the speed-test download number.
- Controls feel delayed: separate stream latency from Fortnite sensitivity. First stabilize the connection and stream mode; only then adjust deadzone or sensitivity.
For device-specific requirements, consult NVIDIA’s requirements page. For Fortnite control menus and aim-assist behavior, use the relevant Epic Games support guidance.
How we chose the recommended approach
The recommendations follow the compatibility and requirements published by Epic Games and NVIDIA: use the supported client for the device, select an input method that the device actually permits, configure controls inside Fortnite, and choose a stream mode supported by the membership, display, hardware, and connection. No official source establishes one best controller, mouse, keyboard, DPI, sensitivity, or deadzone for every Fortnite player, so the article favors reversible, one-change-at-a-time tuning over a supposedly universal preset.
Frequently Asked Questions
What did NVIDIA report about the early Fortnite mobile-touch beta?
NVIDIA reported more than 500,000 beta participants and over 4 million sessions in a May 19, 2022 GeForce NOW Community post. Those figures describe that closed beta period, not current Fortnite users or current service usage; see NVIDIA’s 2022 post.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Does a faster internet plan automatically make Fortnite controls more responsive?
No. Bandwidth is only one part of a cloud session; the route to the GeForce NOW data center, wireless interference, packet stability, and display processing also affect responsiveness. NVIDIA’s published Mbps figures are minimum service requirements, not an independently measured Fortnite latency benchmark.
Can I keep one Fortnite control profile for every device?
Not reliably. A controller profile, touch layout, and keyboard-controls layout serve different input systems, and Fortnite can expose options differently by mode or platform. Save a known-good baseline for each device instead of assuming a desktop keybind or controller deadzone will transfer cleanly to mobile.
Is a phone controller required to play Fortnite through GeForce NOW?
No. Supported mobile Fortnite sessions provide touch controls. A compatible controller is an optional comfort upgrade, and phone size, connector fit, case clearance, and host-device support should be checked before purchase.
