Does Fortnite on iPhone support cross-play?
Yes. Epic says Fortnite mobile is the full game with cross-platform play and account progression, and its support guidance says players can play with friends on any platform. That includes playing with friends on Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, or PC, subject to the game’s cross-play settings.

Cross-play and account progress are related but separate. Cross-play lets players on different platforms play together; shared account progress depends on using the right Epic Games account. Having Fortnite installed on an iPhone does not, by itself, connect the game to the account holding progress on another device.
What to check if you cannot play with friends on another platform
On platforms other than PC or Mac, Epic says cross-play may need to be enabled in Fortnite’s account and gameplay-privacy settings. On iPhone, check Settings > Account > Gameplay Privacy. If the setting is disabled, enable cross-play and check again. If it is already enabled, the setting alone does not resolve account-linking or other game issues.

Will Fortnite progress carry over from iPhone to console or PC?
It can. Epic’s requirement is that the platform accounts used for Fortnite are linked to the same active Epic Games account. Epic says PC and mobile play are already linked to the Epic account used for those games; to include PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, or Steam progress, link the relevant platform account to the Epic account that holds the progress you intend to keep.
Link the console or PC account that has the progress you want
- Identify the progress to keep. If you have played Fortnite under different platform accounts, decide which account has the progress you want to retain before changing links.
- Sign in to the matching Epic Games account. Use the Epic account that contains that Fortnite progress, rather than creating or choosing a different account by mistake.
- Open Linked Accounts. In the Epic account settings, go to Linked Accounts and link the relevant PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, or Steam account.
- Use that linked account on the platform. The goal is for the platform account used to play Fortnite and the iPhone’s mobile play to resolve to the same active Epic account.
Epic’s guidance treats account identity as the deciding factor for synchronization. If you are unsure which Epic account is connected to a console, verify the account before linking or unlinking anything; choosing the wrong account can leave you looking at a different set of Fortnite progress.
What happens if the iPhone and console use different Epic accounts?
Progress from separate accounts does not automatically combine. If the iPhone and console are tied to different Epic Games accounts, select which account’s progress you want to keep and link the relevant platform to that account. Do not expect separate progress histories to merge simply because both accounts are used by the same person.

Why are my Fortnite skins or progress missing after linking a console?
A common account-related explanation is that the console is linked to an Epic account other than the one holding the main Fortnite progress. Epic says that when progress appears to disappear after linking a console, players should unlink and relink the console to the Epic Games account that contains their main Fortnite progress.
Use a careful account check before changing links
- Confirm which Epic Games account contains the progress you want to keep.
- Check which Epic account the console is currently linked to.
- If the console is linked to the wrong Epic account, follow Epic’s unlink-and-relink guidance so it is connected to the account with the main progress.
- If different platform accounts have different progress, decide which progress to retain; Epic says it cannot be merged automatically.
Keep the distinction between an account-linking mismatch and the V-Bucks exception in mind. Epic’s general cross-platform statement covers purchased content and progress across linked Xbox, PlayStation, PC, Switch, and mobile platforms, but explicitly excepts V-Bucks. A missing currency balance therefore should not automatically be treated as proof that all account progression or cosmetic content failed to sync.
Do Fortnite purchases and V-Bucks transfer between iPhone and console?
Epic says content purchased and progress made are accessible across linked Xbox, PlayStation, PC, Switch, and mobile platforms, with V-Bucks as the exception. That means shared progression and content should not be treated as a promise that every currency balance behaves identically across platforms. The account-linking rule still matters for the content and progress covered by Epic’s cross-platform statement: the relevant platform accounts need to be linked to the active Epic Games account. Linking accounts does not merge progress from two different Fortnite accounts.
Can you install Fortnite on iPhone everywhere?
No single worldwide iPhone installation route is established. Epic’s current mobile page lists Fortnite for iOS on the US App Store, while its iOS installation support page says the App Store route applies to iPhones and iPads except in Australia and describes other official installation routes for specified regions. Availability therefore depends on the country and official distribution route available there.
Before planning to play on an iPhone, check Epic’s current mobile and iOS installation information for your location. The cross-play and account-progression features described above do not remove regional installation restrictions.

Use this distinction to diagnose the issue: cross-play settings affect whether you can play with friends on other platforms, while Epic account linking determines whether progress is associated with the same account across devices.
- You cannot join friends on another platform: check the iPhone cross-play setting under Settings > Account > Gameplay Privacy.
- Your console or PC progress is absent on iPhone: confirm that the platform account is linked to the Epic account containing the progress you intend to keep.
- Two sets of progress appear to conflict: choose which progress to retain. Epic does not automatically combine different Fortnite progress histories.

If I unlink a console, will that merge its Fortnite progress with my iPhone account?
No. Unlinking and relinking is an account-association fix, not a progress-merging method. Epic’s advice for apparently missing console progress is to relink the console to the Epic account containing the main Fortnite progress.
