Fortnite does not have one permanent Power Hour start time. Power Hour is a limited-time event whose schedule, duration, game mode, and gameplay modifiers change from event to event. Check the event text beside the lobby countdown rather than assuming every timer is counting down to Power Hour.
The latest schedules covered by the available information include multiple sessions on the same day, different regional start times, and sessions lasting two hours instead of one.

What the Fortnite Power Hour countdown means
The Power Hour countdown is an automatically scheduled in-game timer. It is not a command, a player-configurable timer, or a feature that can be started manually.
In Battle Royale and Zero Build, reports place the relevant countdown in the lobby near the mode-selection options. However, the lobby can show more than one scheduled timer. A countdown may refer to Power Hour, a live or story event, or the end of the current season.

Read the event name or accompanying text before treating the timer as a Power Hour countdown. The timer alone is not proof of which event is next.
How to find the next Power Hour
- Return to the Fortnite lobby. Look near the Battle Royale or Zero Build mode options for the event timer and its associated label.
- Check the event name. Confirm that the text identifies Power Hour or a named Power Hour variant, rather than a season-end or story-event countdown.
- Use the listed date and time. Convert the published event time to your own time zone. One displayed regional time does not apply unchanged worldwide.
- Check for multiple sessions. Some events run in separate windows on the same day.
- Enter early when the event includes a live moment or special reward. This is not a universal Power Hour requirement, but one event announcement recommended joining roughly 15 minutes before the start because queuing at the exact start time could be affected by server congestion.
There is no verified universal current menu sequence such as Menu → Events → Power Hour. The available reports identify the lobby, but they do not establish a single button path or event-panel label that applies to every Fortnite version and mode.
Recent Power Hour start-time examples
| Event example | Published window | Duration and sessions |
|---|---|---|
| Dark Voyager Takeover | March 21, 2026, 3:30–4:30 p.m. ET and 9:30–10:30 p.m. ET | Two one-hour sessions |
| Holofoil Hours | July 11, 2026, 11:00 a.m. PT / 2:00 p.m. ET, then 6:00 p.m. PT / 9:00 p.m. ET | Two separate two-hour sessions |
These examples show why “the Fortnite Power Hour starts at [one fixed time]” is unreliable. The start time depends on the named event and date, while the number and length of sessions can also change.

For the latest event-specific information, compare the in-game label with the published schedule. The available information does not verify a future Power Hour session after the July 11, 2026 Holofoil Hours event, so an old schedule should not be presented as a current upcoming start time.
Does Power Hour always last one hour?
No. The name is not a guarantee of a 60-minute duration. Some schedules use one-hour sessions, while recent examples have used two-hour sessions. An event can also run more than once on the same day.
Use the event’s end time—not the word “Hour”—to decide how long the session lasts. If the schedule lists two windows, the first session ending does not necessarily mean the event is over for the day.

What changes during Power Hour?
Power Hour is a temporary ruleset or event modifier, not a permanent Fortnite mode. Depending on the season and named event, it may affect:

Do not assume that one Power Hour shares another event’s modifiers. The exact effects belong to the schedule and description for that specific event.
When do the effects apply?
Power Hour effects generally apply when a new match starts. Special starting items and devices are described as being granted at the start of the match, so an already-running match should not be expected to change retroactively when the event window opens.

Power Hour has also appeared in Save the World, where the countdown location may differ. Community reports placed one countdown on the Map screen rather than in Homebase. That placement is player-reported, not confirmed by an Epic support article, and may not apply to every Save the World event or client version.

Common countdown mistakes
- Calling every timer Power Hour: Check whether the label instead refers to the season ending or a live/story event.
- Using one time for every region: Convert the published global schedule to your local time.
- Assuming the event lasts exactly 60 minutes: Read the complete session window; two-hour sessions exist.
- Expecting an active match to update: Effects generally apply at match start.
- Looking for a command: Power Hour is scheduled automatically; the available information identifies no console, chat, or player-entered command.
- Queueing at the exact start of a live event: If the announcement includes a story moment or special reward, joining early may reduce the risk of server congestion, though this is event-specific.
Bottom line
Fortnite Power Hour has no universal start time or guaranteed one-hour duration. Use the named event and its complete schedule, verify the time zone and session window, and treat the lobby timer as a clue that must be matched to its event label. For Battle Royale and Zero Build, check the lobby; for Save the World, the relevant timer may appear on the Map screen.
