To switch to R15 in Catalog Avatar Creator, open the in-game Roblox chat, type /r15, and press Enter. Your currently previewed avatar should reload as an R15 character. You can also select it through Avatar → Body → Scale.
Switch to R15 with the chat command
- Join the official Catalog Avatar Creator experience by @Muneeb.
- Open Roblox’s in-experience chat.
- Enter
/r15. - Press Enter and wait for your avatar to reload.
The command changes the rig of the avatar you are currently previewing inside Catalog Avatar Creator. To switch back to R6, use:

- Open Avatar.
- Select Body.
- Open Scale.
- Find the R6/R15 body-type controls.
- Select R15.
The selector may be farther down in the Scale section or require scrolling within the editor. It is not necessarily located in a general gear-shaped settings menu. If you cannot find it, /r15 is usually the quicker method. Community references document the menu location as Body → Scale, with users also reporting that the control can be lower in the interface than expected.
What changes when you select R15?
R6 and R15 are different Roblox avatar rigs, not simply two visual body presets. R6 uses six main body parts, while R15 uses 15 body parts with additional joints for more flexible movement and animation.

R15 is the newer avatar technology and supports modern features such as layered clothing and animatable heads. Roblox describes the evolution of these avatar capabilities in its avatar technology overview. Because the body structures differ, clothing and accessories can fit or behave differently after the switch.

Why R15 may look different in another Roblox game
Changing to R15 in Catalog Avatar Creator does not force every Roblox experience to use R15. Each experience can be configured for R6, R15, or R15 & R6 through its own avatar settings. The destination game can therefore restrict or replace the rig you previewed in CAC. Roblox documents these developer-controlled options in its Avatar Settings documentation.

Some R6 experiences can use Roblox’s R6-to-R15 Adapter. This is not a player-side switch: the experience developer must enable it. The adapter can allow an R15 avatar to retain some R15 features, including layered clothing and animatable heads, while the experience continues using R6-like scale and movement systems.
Troubleshooting
The /r15 command does nothing
- Check that you typed
/r15exactly, including the leading slash. - Send it in the in-game chat, not a private message or search field.
- Wait for the avatar to reload before checking the result.
- Reopen the avatar editor or rejoin Catalog Avatar Creator if the preview remains unchanged.
The R15 option is missing
Look in Avatar → Body → Scale and scroll through the Scale controls. If the selector is difficult to locate, use /r15 instead.

Clothing disappears or fits incorrectly
R6 and R15 have different body structures. Classic clothing, layered clothing, and accessories may not behave identically on both rigs, and some items may be positioned or scaled differently. That does not necessarily mean the conversion failed; inspect the avatar after the rig has finished reloading.

The avatar changes back after joining another experience
The other experience may allow only R6, only R15, or both rigs. Its configuration can override the avatar setup from Catalog Avatar Creator. Likewise, an R15 avatar may appear or move more like R6 in an R6 experience if the developer has not enabled the R6-to-R15 Adapter.

Common misconceptions
You do not switch CAC to R15 through Roblox account settings
The direct player-side method in Catalog Avatar Creator is the in-game /r15 command, with Avatar → Body → Scale as the menu route where available. Roblox Studio’s Avatar Settings are for experience developers configuring their games, not for ordinary players changing the rig in CAC.
R15 does not guarantee R15 support everywhere
Your selection applies to the avatar preview in Catalog Avatar Creator. Individual Roblox experiences control which avatar types they accept and whether they use an adapter or their own character system.
