The headline “Star Wars Headlines New Fortnite UEFN Content, Squid Game Lands This Month” was published on June 3, 2025, so “this month” meant June 2025—not October 2026. The two stories concern licensed tools and assets for Fortnite island creators, not new standalone games: Squid Game creator content was announced for June 2025, while Epic announced Star Wars creation tools in April 2026 and set their publishing date for May 1, 2026.
What the headline meant
The June 3, 2025 headline combined two developments in Fortnite’s creator ecosystem. Epic was bringing Squid Game-themed assets into UEFN and Fortnite Creative, and Star Wars creator tools were also part of the broader story. The timing needs care: Epic’s Squid Game announcement said islands could publish starting August 14, 2025, rather than June 27. The June date referred to the planned arrival of creator assets, not the start of publishing. Epic’s Squid Game announcement gives the creator-program details.
What creators received for each franchise
| Program | Tools and assets | Publishing timing | Creator terms |
|---|---|---|---|
| Star Wars | Templates and starter islands, themed galleries and props, characters, locations, vehicles, weapons, gameplay features, and creator documentation. | Epic announced tools on April 1, 2026, with island publishing planned for May 1, 2026. | Creators must join the Fortnite Developer Program and accept additional Creator Portal terms. Epic’s announcement set a 20% engagement payout share for The Walt Disney Company, required compliance with Star Wars Brand Rules, and said islands do not support in-island transactions. | Squid Game | NPCs, devices, templates, galleries, widgets, characters, and audio; a flat-grid starter island was also available in Creative. | Creator assets were announced for June 2025. Epic said Squid Game islands could publish starting August 14, 2025. | Creators must opt into additional terms. Epic’s 2025 announcement set a 15% engagement payout share for Netflix. These were separate licensed programs, not interchangeable terms. Epic’s percentages describe creator engagement payout shares for the relevant island programs; they are not player purchase prices.
Squid Game templates and age-rating limits
Epic’s documentation identifies three UEFN templates: Squid Game Starter Island, Minigames Mastery Template, and Social Deduction Template. Creators could also start from a Squid Game flat-grid island in Fortnite Creative. Epic’s Squid Game creation documentation lists the available resources and regional maximum age-rating categories:

The release required enrollment in the Fortnite Developer Program and acceptance of added terms through the Creator Portal. Epic’s announcement also stated: “All Star Wars islands must comply with the Star Wars Brand Rules and do not support in-island transactions.”

What changed in the Star Wars toolkit later
Epic’s June 25, 2026 v41.10 ecosystem notes said the Star Wars toolkit then included over 30 droids with control rigs and a rideable Mountain Tauntaun variant. The same release described the Verse Quest API as experimental and not usable in publishable islands at that time; that was a general UEFN feature note, not a restriction specific to the licensed Star Wars toolkit. Epic’s v41.10 notes provide the dated toolkit details.
