Premium Edition is the Forza Horizon 6 edition that includes both announced expansions. Standard and Deluxe include the base game but no expansion content. If you already own the game, the Premium Upgrade adds both expansions and the other Premium extras, while the Expansions Bundle contains the two expansions without requiring you to buy the full game again.
Expansion 1 is scheduled for January 21, 2027. Expansion 2 is included in the Premium lineup, but its release date has not been announced. Platform timing changes the practical choice: Xbox Series X|S and PC versions are available now, while the PS5 launch is scheduled for January 26, 2027, with five-day early access for Premium owners.

Forza Horizon 6 editions at a glance
The important distinction is whether you need the complete game or only additional content for a copy you already own. The official lineup has three full-game editions and two add-on routes.

Which edition includes Expansion 1?
Expansion 1 is included with Premium Edition, Premium Upgrade and Expansions Bundle. It is also sold separately. Playground Games announced an availability date of January 21, 2027 across platforms. The announcement did not provide a name for the expansion, so listings that use an unconfirmed title should be treated cautiously.
If you buy Standard or Deluxe, Expansion 1 is not part of those editions. You can still add it later through the separate expansion purchase or an eligible bundle, subject to the store and platform account on which you own the game.
Does Premium Edition include Expansion 2?
Yes. Expansion 2 is listed as part of Premium Edition, Premium Upgrade and Expansions Bundle. Its timing is currently stated only as “available at a later date”; no further release date is established in the official edition information.
This means Premium Edition is the only full-game purchase that clearly covers both announced expansions at once. Buying Standard or Deluxe now does not automatically grant Expansion 2, even if you later obtain Expansion 1 separately.
What Standard Edition is for
Standard Edition is the straightforward base-game purchase. It includes the complete Forza Horizon 6 game, but the edition comparison does not list either expansion. Choose it when you want to start with the core game, are unsure whether you will play the expansions, or prefer to decide on add-ons after release information is clearer.
Standard is also the starting point for an owner who may later choose Premium Upgrade. If you are using a subscription entitlement rather than purchasing the game, verify that your account and subscription satisfy the upgrade product’s current eligibility rules before checkout.
What Deluxe Edition adds—and what it does not
Deluxe Edition includes the full game, Welcome Pack and Car Pass. It does not list Expansion 1 or Expansion 2 as included content. The Car Pass and the expansions are separate categories: owning one does not grant the other.
Deluxe makes sense when the Welcome Pack and Car Pass are the extras you want, but you do not need the Premium expansion package. If your goal is both expansions, compare the total content of Premium Edition or Premium Upgrade rather than assuming Deluxe is a halfway version of Premium.
Why Premium Edition is the all-in-one choice
Premium Edition combines the full game with both expansions and the broadest listed set of extras. In addition to Expansion 1 and Expansion 2, it includes VIP Membership, Welcome Pack, Car Pass, Time Attack Car Pack and Italian Passion Car Pack.
For a new buyer who already knows they want the two expansions, this avoids purchasing a base edition and then assembling the add-ons. It also provides access to Expansion 1 from its announced January 21, 2027 date. On PS5, that date is five days before the general game launch, so Premium owners receive the announced early-access window.

Premium Upgrade versus Expansions Bundle
Both products include Expansion 1 and Expansion 2, but they are not interchangeable.

Premium Upgrade
Premium Upgrade is an add-on, not a standalone game. You must own the game separately, or meet the stated Xbox and PC Game Pass eligibility terms. It includes the same Premium extras listed with Premium Edition: VIP Membership, Welcome Pack, Car Pass, Time Attack Car Pack and Italian Passion Car Pack, as well as both expansions.
Use this route when you already own Standard or Deluxe and want the complete Premium content set. Before buying, check the store listing for the exact eligible edition, platform and subscription status; product labels and eligibility can differ between storefronts.
Expansions Bundle
The Expansions Bundle is also an add-on, but its listed contents are limited to Expansion 1 and Expansion 2. It does not include the other Premium extras. It is the more targeted option for an existing owner who wants the expansion pair and does not need VIP Membership, the Welcome Pack, Car Pass or the two additional car packs.
Release dates and platform differences
| Platform or access route | Availability stated by official announcements | What to verify before purchase |
|---|---|---|
| Xbox Series X|S | Available as of the May 19, 2026 launch announcement | Edition, add-on ownership and current store entitlement |
| PC | Available through the Xbox app and Steam; Standard Edition is included with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass under the launch announcement | Whether your subscription still qualifies for Premium Upgrade and which PC storefront owns the base game |
| PS5 | Standard and Deluxe scheduled for January 26, 2027; Premium early access begins January 21, 2027 | Exact digital or physical edition listing and whether your selected configuration has the content you expect |
Playground Games has announced a PS5 disc version through supporting retailers. That does not establish that every edition, including every Premium configuration, will be sold as a physical disc. Check the actual retailer or platform listing for format, region, edition name and included items.

How to choose if you already own the game
- Identify your base-game entitlement. Confirm whether you own Standard or Deluxe on the same platform account where you intend to purchase the add-on. A subscription entitlement may have separate rules from a purchased copy.
- Decide whether you want Premium extras. If you want VIP Membership, Welcome Pack, Car Pass, Time Attack Car Pack and Italian Passion Car Pack in addition to the expansions, compare Premium Upgrade. If you want only the two expansions, compare Expansions Bundle.
- Check platform compatibility. Xbox, PC and PS5 stores may present separate products. On PC, confirm whether the game is installed through the Xbox app or Steam before selecting an add-on.
- Confirm timing. Expansion 1’s announced date is January 21, 2027. Expansion 2 has no announced date beyond “available at a later date.”
- Review the final store description. Edition contents and release information can change. Make sure the checkout page names the correct platform and does not describe a full game when you are buying an add-on.
How to choose as a new buyer
Choose Standard when you want flexibility
Standard gives you the base game without committing to expansion content. It is suitable if you want to begin playing first or are waiting for more information about the expansions.
Choose Deluxe when the listed car extras are the priority
Deluxe is aimed at players who specifically want the Welcome Pack and Car Pass. It is not the expansion edition, so budget for a separate expansion purchase if you later decide to add that content.
Choose Premium when you want the announced complete package
Premium is the direct choice for a new player who wants the game, both expansions and all of the other listed Premium add-ons. It is also the edition tied to the five-day PS5 early-access period beginning January 21, 2027.
Cars and edition scope
Playground Games describes Forza Horizon 6 as featuring more than 550 real-world cars. That figure describes the game-wide car roster and is not an edition-by-edition count. The edition comparison distinguishes the Car Pass and named car packs as included extras; it does not establish a separate total-car number for Standard, Deluxe or Premium.

- Assuming Deluxe includes expansions: the Deluxe listing names Welcome Pack and Car Pass, not Expansion 1 or Expansion 2.
- Buying Premium Upgrade without the game: Upgrade is not a standalone copy. You need the game separately, subject to the applicable Game Pass terms.
- Expecting the Expansions Bundle to include every Premium extra: its listed contents are the two expansions only.
- Treating the PS5 early-access date as the general launch date: January 21 is the Premium early-access start; Standard and Deluxe are scheduled for January 26.
- Assuming Expansion 2 has a fixed launch date: the official listing gives no date beyond later availability.
- Confusing a physical game with an add-on: a PS5 disc announcement concerns the game release path. Premium Upgrade and Expansions Bundle are digital add-on choices in the edition structure.
What to verify when editions change
Edition contents, platform availability and release dates are volatile. Before placing an order, open the current Xbox, PC or PlayStation listing and confirm the edition name, base-game requirement, expansion names, release timing, region and physical or digital format. This is especially important for PS5, where the announced disc availability is limited to supporting retailers and does not prove that every Premium configuration has a disc counterpart.
The safest decision rule is simple: buy Premium Edition for a new copy with both expansions; use Premium Upgrade for an existing owner who wants the full Premium extras; use Expansions Bundle for an existing owner who wants only the two expansions; and choose Standard or Deluxe only when you intentionally do not need expansion content included now.
