Yes: Playground Games revealed Forza Horizon 6 during the Xbox Tokyo Game Show livestream on September 25, 2025, and confirmed that the game is set in Japan. The announcement confirms the setting, but it does not establish whether a particular pre-reveal leak was genuine or where it came from.
What happened at Tokyo Game Show 2025?
Playground Games announced Forza Horizon 6 during the Xbox Tokyo Game Show 2025 broadcast on September 25. The studio’s announcement said: “Today we joined the Xbox Tokyo Game Show livestream to reveal Forza Horizon 6 featuring our next, highly requested destination: Japan.” Playground Games’ reveal announcement made the game and its setting official.
Tokyo was more than the event’s backdrop. In an Xbox Wire interview published that day, Playground Games Art Director Don Arceta explained the choice of venue: “What better way to do that than announcing in Tokyo at Japan’s biggest gaming event of the year?” The interview also discusses the studio’s approach to representing Japan, including urban and rural environments.
Was Japan really leaked before the reveal?
Japan was the confirmed setting, and it had been the subject of pre-reveal speculation. But the official announcement and interview confirm the destination; they do not verify the details, timing, or source of any specific leak. So it is accurate to say that Japan was rumored and then officially confirmed—not that the announcement proves a particular leak was authentic.

What was announced afterward?
On January 22, 2026, Playground Games announced a May 19, 2026 release date for Xbox Series X|S and PC, with Premium Edition early access starting May 15. The announcement also said that a PS5 version would follow later in 2026; that was the plan stated at the time, and the cited announcement does not establish its subsequent availability. Tokyo Game Show 2026 is also in the past: the event organizer lists the show as running September 17–21, 2026, and says it concluded. The official TGS 2026 page gives the event dates.
